Excellent rating for Brief Encounters. A sure recommission and a hit Summer drama for ITV.

Bring it back and try it in Autumn/Winter?

I wonder if they might see it as a replacement for Home Fires in the spring, pairing it up with The Durrells?
![]() Isn't the Durrells set in the mid to late thirties so sometime during series3 or 4 the Nazi's will arrive in Corfu and they will have to flee and come home, possibly reenacting the Sound of Music while doing so. |

Obviously this week's was dented due to the hot weather, but I presume everyone should have rushed indoors to watch Catchphrase before resuming their BBQs

The highlight of the evening oddly came during BOTS. That impressionist Luke Kempner is pretty damn good, isn't he? What a talent for the future. |

Really? Yikes, couldn't agree with any of that. A truly forgettable series ended in slightly surprising fashion, but it didn't really make me feel anything, which is a sign of how far BB has fallen.

The actual result was a COMPLETE surprise, nobody would have thought Jason would win it. First surprise result in a while.

Channel 4 and Channel 5 did okay. |

thanks to rzt
Inc +1: Big Brother Final: 1.50m (8.6%) Bit On The Side: 664k (7.5%) Up 220k on the final from last year, so C5 will be happy, it also looks set to be the highest of the series as the launch got an official of 1.86m and this could potentially beat that. |

Not totally dreadful for BB. Hopefully bodes well for the main event on Thursday.
Plenty of disappointments elsewhere but BBC Two had a very strong Tuesday. |

Now obviously that was to encourage more votes but with no clear leader it meant that you knew whoever was in that top 2 with Hughie had a real chance. So yeah, only slightly surprising because of that. I certainly wouldn't have predicted Jason beforehand although he was 2nd favourite apparently. |
