They managed too pay £21million for TVUk over 3 series with less spin-offs and hours. Everything Bake-Off related rates well.

Foolish. Really foolish. The problem is, the BBC is the loser in this situation. Love Productions will be more happy that they have their asking price.

Big shock that the BBC couldn't keep hold of it, especially as most of the key people in front of camera were very passionate about it staying there.

I'm not expecting any further surprises from here. It'll go to ITV and absolutely transform their fortunes midweek where they have nothing even in the same league as Bake Off currently.

They already do Celeb Bake-Off. Its called The Great British Sport/Comic Relief Bake-Off. TOWIE casts have already been on GBBO I believe.

Probably all about commercial opportunites. I guess they need to milk it whilst its at its most popular.

I hope Mary stays loyal to the BBC. I don't know if it would be allowed but couldn't they do something like the Bake Off that wasn't the Bake Off?.

Paul and Mary have already said they won't do it if not in BBC. I know money talks, but I believe it of them- well, Mary at least. For me- no Paul and Mary, no Bake Off.

You are joking? A TV programme moving channels is hardly worth mentioning on the main news.

I'm a believer that shows that were commissioned by a broadcaster, should stay with a broadcaster. This is a new evil in modern society. money seems to be the thing about everything these days. I will not watch any new series of Bake Off out of principal. It is a BBC show and the BBC should not ever use Love Productions again. The BBC is not a commercial broadcaster. They can't bid huge amounts of money that commercial providers can provide. Any Indy when making shows for the BBC should be aware of that.

I am genuinely saddened and annoyed at this story, so much so, that I might not even bother watch the rest of this series either.

They want the money from brand deals and others things that the BBC cant do so its more greed and the voice isnt on BBC now because again the BBC no longer has the money. cant see the presenters staying if it moves maybe Mary too and I dont really think it will work anywhere else to be honest

Umm, unless I'm mistaken they had to get rid of that too? So not really analogous, the license fee is squeezed (for IMHO) political reasons.

There will be a year's gap, Paul; and Mary might not be the judge and Mel and Sue might not present. Therefore, viewers might not watch. What would be the point in that?

Yes they did. But while they had TVUK they still had GBBO. Therefore they should have £20millon or so freed up that they would've spent on TVUK rights, plus the money they would have from GBBO.

Very, very sad for the show. I'll certainly miss it.

It is, however, a stroke of genius from ITV. Even if the new Bake Off falls flat on its arse, ITV have successfully destroyed the BBC's top program.

Lets not forget anyone questioning if Love Productions are a questionable production company, they also made Benefits Street so I think that says a lot

How silly. They will no doubt lose all of the on screen talent and ratings will freefall on another channel, no doubt ITV. Won't be worth the money. And Love Productions will suffer in the long run.

I really hope the talent doesn't follow, anyway. This is one programme that just won't be the same with adverts. May as well have this be the end and its successor be 'GBBO in name only'. I hope to be proved wrong as I love the show.

I watched my first ever episode of GBBO last week. It struck me as like one of the challenges on the Apprentice but without the selling part. To be honest I found the show quite boring but I'm going to try it again on Wednesday.

It's a reality show more than a talent show. I can't see any reason why it would suffer being on itv after Coronation Street.

One wonders whether Love Productions have noticed that itv is winning back viewers and can produce a drama that beats Poldark. Probably not, it was probably simply about money.

The show attracts 13m viewers and scores in all demographics. It's gold. Advertisers will love it, especially if it runs from the start of October. Imagine all of the new Xmas adverts that will launch on the show. The supermarkets will ahem.. love it.

But they're under a stricter budget now, are you seriously suggesting they shouldn't have commissioned any other big shows just so that they would be able to keep Bake-off in 4 years time, when Bake-off wasn't even that big a hit then and may have regressed. This is very odd.

Ideally if there wasn't cuts they'd have kept both, they're now being squeezed. This was always this governments intention.
