Mega line up! Glee star Amber Riley, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp named as judges on BBC1's new talent show Let it Shine and is co presented by Graham Norton and Mel off Bake Off
Oh dear. Not exactly the most inspiring lineup, although I'm sure the show will do OK.

As for This Morning, sounds like they were just taking the piss. Nothing to get worked up over.

That looks decent actually. Will the kids watch? We still don't know the complete coaches line up for The Voice on ITV.

Decent rather than mega. Might work.

It's no exaggeration to say Love Productions have damaged indie relations with broadcasters and some indies are angry with Love because of this. And what one TV person said to me yesterday about Love. It'd make a docker blush!
You have to spill now!

Wonder when they'll announce that? Filming must be starting soon. The rumours aren't particularly exciting for that either but we'll see.

You'd have thought announcements would have happened by now. Where in September and The Voice starts early in the new year on ITV. Or so we assume.

The words "couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery" have been heard a few times today about Love.

None of their employees seem to be happy about it, they had no clue they were going to Channel 4. They only found out (in an email I might add) about 20 minutes before the news broke. Of course there were rumours about it moving channels, but nobody actually thought it was going to happen. The execs at Love are a couple and apparently isolated themselves from everyone other than their legal team, so nobody had any clue.

Apparently the Judges are really, really annoyed by it. Mary has said in the press that she won't do it without Mel and Sue. Mel and Sue didn't even entertain Channel 4's offer, apparently, they took themselves off the table as soon as the news broke. Apparently, they didn't even get the email that Love's employees got.

C'mon! Generalise the comment and it'll be fine.

Dangerous move seeing as people seek the advice of their friends before making big decisions and from all I understand, the four of them are tight friends. Paul and Mary did their chat-show on ITV when it's clear they didn't have to and, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, the banter was that of friends chatting more than it was about flogging cookbooks.

I generalised the best I could for mine, removed some of the stuff that I don't think I'd be allowed to post (e.g. some of the salary offers made).

I guarantee this will make an amazing book in a few years.

And Paul?!! He's the interesting one - who's apparently taken himself off to Los Angeles and is 'unavailable'! Not sure what to believe, but some insider news/gossip about him would be interesting, if you have it.

None of the other stuff, about Mary, Mel and Sue is surprising, although that's appalling about not even having the courtesy to inform the presenters about the contract decision before sending a mass email to the staff. I heard some of the staff are BBC employees essentially seconded to Love Productions owing to the amount of programming done for the channel. Wonder what will happen to them?

Yes, they've become very close friends. Sue Perkins and Mary went to Ibiza together, for example and Paul has appeared on Sue's panel show as well as the chat show. Mel has done stuff with both of them as well. Plus they've both said Bake Off isn't Bake Off without Mel and Sue.

Bet she rues (Roux's?) these words now but perhaps it explains the ludicrous bravado following M&S's announcement:

https://www.theguardian.com/media/20...fident-pretend

Channel 4’s Jay Hunt: ‘If you can’t be confident, you can pretend’
I’m not a very confident person. I feel things acutely. When I get things wrong, I’m very aware of it. I find the criticism extremely tough..

I make decisions, knowingly, that are overtly non-commercial ... I’m incredibly proud of where we are creatively.”
Oh dear, Jay.......

Although you could say at £75m for a half-baked soggy bottom of a programme, that's about as non-commercial as it gets!

You have to wonder if Love Productions even give a shit whether the show tanks now or not, considering they've got £75 million out of it.

it certainly should be the last penny of licence fee payers money they get, let the commercial media pay their bills from now on.

There must be caveats - if the show isn't made (canned after the first year for terrible ratings or similar), clearly they don't get paid for the 2 years not made. C4 may have made a terrible error of judgement, but I wonder if they have some recourse to Love Productions, in that they've been sold a false bill of goods - Love maybe claiming the presenters/judges were a done deal, even though they hadn't secured them. Of course, it's always caveat emptor, but that's what C4 employs their lawyers for! This is just a giant omnishambles, and it's near guaranteed that anyone associated with the show is going to have to deal with some terrible press. To be a fly on the Love Production office walls right now....!

Presumably Newzoids will be hammering their Mel & Sue puppets this week. If they get a move on they could do a Jay Hunt puppet as well!

If the rumours are true about the obscene amounts of money (I'm talking mid 7 figures here) that Channel 4 are offering Paul and Mary, then I'm even more amazed that they seem to be heading towards sticking with the beeb.

So they've got two people who can't sing or dance and a woman most people (including me) have to google.

Despite this, it should get 6m if it has no competition. Put it on before The Voice in the SCD slot.

And yet the Mel and Sue presser made it clear that they would not switch as they aren't obsessed about money. Not a nice thing to say when youre friends haven't decided what to do.

So the BBC should not keep the sewing or pottery shows? Are they popular? *Genuine question*

I suspect the obscene number is the thing giving Paul a lot of problems - that's the kind of money that gives your family security for a long, long time. The kind of money that changes your retirement plans. However, he also knows the principles of rejecting it may net enough goodwill that his ongoing work options stay interesting, instead of being bound to a potentially tainted brand for an extended period of time, and having other doors firmly closed because of perceived traitordom! Tough call whether Paul will cave or not.
