When do we get the consolidated ratings for last week's Bake Off?

Not really seeing he is the only one with a twitter account. Oh Sue has one but maybe didn't have the characters.

4m is okay for any drama. I assume it clears 5m 7day rating.”

Power of the brand while all of the current constituents are still in place.

I was just about to say the same! Whereas last nights episode really brought home to me what a different show it is going to be without Mel and Sue.
When I think of the Sports Relief versions, it never has quite the same feel, and I think that's partly due to the guest presenters they bring in.

Last night's GBBO was probably locked by the time M&S made their announcement but I like to think the Beeb may have hastily edited a little bit more of them back in in order to underline their importance. It would make sense to me for them to re-jig the remaining eps to just add a few more bits here and there to the rest of this series leaving nobody in any doubt as to what will be missing in future!

Bit childish maybe but all's far in Love (Productions) and War!!

Channel 4 have gone out to Paul and Mary's agents with huge offers, even more than what was quoted last night.

Paul's agent seems to be more Keen than Mary's. The BBC have offered less money but a better contract including a guaranteed amount of projects (of any kind) per year and a primetime slot featuring potentially the Bake Off team, if Mel and Sue agree.

Channel 4 are offering more money and input into Bake Off, but they're really desperate now as quite a few other people they've approached as potential judges have turned them down.

The phrase, "Poisoned Chalice" springs to mind. Unless you're Jamie "gizzajob" Oliver of course!

Your info on this is fascinating - Kepp the tidbits coming!

Difficult situation- if they go, they just look like they are going for the money. Especially if that bit about a primetime slot with Mel and Sue and the rest of the team is true.
I don't think they'd be able to spin a move to channel 4 as anything other than 'they offered more money'.

In your honest opinion, what do you see as the outcome? I think Hollywood will go and I think Mary will leave BUT will make a guest appearance or 2 during the run of the series.

Exactly! Who wants to take this job on now, with all that's happened in the last couple of days?
Money will talk eventually though.
I wonder if Paul does go, but Mary doesn't, who they'd try to team him up with?

I add this is probably Love's argument rather than my own. If Kudos couldn't reach an agreement with ITV over Braodchurch the same would have happened.”

But either Factual would have to lose £14m or Entertainment would have to find £24m.

Loathe Productions also make The Great British Sewing Bee, one to watch?

Sue doesn't need to have it tweeted to her - she and Mel have made their choice. That tweet is directed at Paul, who's yet to officially declare his choice, and Love Productions, for obvious reasons.

The rating is great, I thought it would be pretty close to the episode 1 overnights. Last night's episode was very pertinent, in light of recent news, in that it showed Mel and Sue presenting in a manner that I think is entirely impossible to replicate with any other presenter. From their adorable nursery rhyme (sung in harmony, no less) to open the show, to the kind of double entendre silliness, and sheer fun they bring to proceedings (Sue and Selasi pumping their fists in celebration when he successfully tossed his laced pancake), there's just no replacement for that, and it was a salient lesson to Love Productions (and C4) about what they've done to the brand.

Yes, I agree that's the most likely scenario. It'll be a shame if Hollywood goes, especially if the rumours about the BBC offering him Top Gear are true. I reckon if anything's going to swing it for him, that'll be it.

Replacing a host is hard. Max Bygraves struggled but Les Dennis didn't on FFortunes. Brucie mastered Price is Right though never as well as Crowther. It helps if you're not the replacement host.

Having said that Larry Grayson increased ratings on Generation Game and Jim Davidson did well too. Les Dawson was a hit on Blank. Dermot was an improvement for the XF. Brucie was integral to the launch and success of SCD.

Replacing the judges seems harder to me as we've seen on XF. Core judges stayed with SCD and DoIce. BGT has survived well, even without Cowell, but Ant and Dec are the kings of light entertainment in this century.

You can get a whole new cast and build it back up but you should not be paying top whack then. By the time it's worth £25m the contract will be up and it might go to ITV.

And you can be sure ITV will have all of talent ducks lined up first.

In today's episode of Top Bake.

The Souffle Mountain Challenge.

Can Paul and Mary bake the perfect Souffle while their mobile kitchen is pulled across the Alps by a Tank driven by Mel and Sue.

Followed by The Fastest Baker in a reasonably priced Oven.

I think Paul, sadly, will follow the show to 4 and Mary will quit. It's a shame because I hope all 4 stay and the BBC have a new show by this time next year.

The similarities between Breadxit and Brexit become more striking every day - Many folks just wanting everyone involved to admit they got it wrong and go back to how it was!!

Stick with Europe and the BBC!!

We're not leaving Europe, we're leaving the EU, there's a difference - but I see your point

In other news BBC News has published an article about ITV's plans for a late night entertainment show, stating a 40 episode run which could displace News at Ten. Described as "Saturday Night Takeaway meets James Corden's Late, Late Show"

According to The Mirror, "likely contenders for the wish-list of household name hosts are Jack Whitehall, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, Stephen Fry, David Walliams and Sarah Millican.

"Big name actors such as Olivia Colman and David Tennant, pop stars and sporting heroes could also be approached.

"The programme, likely to use the slogan “Where the stars come out at night”, is aimed at providing an alternative to the BBC’s Ten O’Clock News.

"Made by ITV Studios, it will have running gags and stunts which producers hope could go viral and help to attract a younger audience in the way that proved so successful for Corden’s Carpool Karaoke in the US."

Worth a shot, and if it does well, move the news to 10.30pm permanently. If it does middling, swap the news and it round. If it flops, axe it and restore normal service.

No, no, no! I didn't get it wrong when I voted Leave. And the contempt the UK was shown by our so called EU friends yesterday confirms that I was right! But, that's wayyyyy too political for this thread. Breadxit is way more serious.

I think DCI Banks will be ITV's next cancellation. I wonder why it has suddenly lost half it's usual audience.
