In which case nobody on BGT can judge many of the acts on BGT. Sharon, Louis and and Simon can't sing.

The winner knows how to bake and knows what tastes nice. I'm not sure what makes a good critic. Was Jonathan Ross capable of critiquing films? Nina Myskow used to judge acts. Piers Morgan? Hasselhoff?

The irony is people didn't like Gary Barlow but he's eminently qualified.

Thank you. So the same undervaluing of consolidated ratings would apply to sky player or ITV Hub or C4 player etc then..?

Jo Brand is on the One Show tomorrow - wonder if she says something, but then she has a new comedy series starting on 4 next week

Wentworth Prison concluded its fourth season with a consolidated audience of 779,000, a new high since the move to 5Star.

Season 4 Breakdown
S4 / Ep4 Screw Lover: 0.42m
S4 / Ep5 Love and Hate: 0.61m
S4 / Ep6 Divide and Conquer: 0.66m
S4 / Ep7 Panic Button: 0.54m
S4 / Ep8 Plan Bea: 0.61m
S4 / Ep9 Afterlife: 0.73m
S4 / Ep10 Smitten: 0.68m
S4 / Ep11 Eleventh Hour: 0.68m
S4 / Ep12 Seeing Red: 0.78m

Given its last few episodes on C5 consolidated to about 1m inc. +1, that's roughly a 63% conversion rate on average and closer to 80% towards the end, surely one of the most successful channel switches of all-time.

While the Beeb weren't up for matching the 25m a year for the format I daresay, at this point, they would match C4's money for P&M unless it got silly. I can't see why they wouldn't equal the £350k per year it's been reported Hunt is offering.

Would they, what with all the scrutiny BBC stars' pay is under at the moment?

Anyway, by the sounds of it, it sounds like a done deal with Channel 4.

When hasn't that been the case over the last ten years?

Lineker's pay makes £350k look like pocket change.

Anyway, if paying that reunited P&M and M&S in a baking show it'd look like the bargain of the decade.

Aren't they supposed to be making £500k per year now? If he was offered host of Top Gear it's hard to see that not being big money.

He could easily ruin his career staying at the BBC. Chris Evans may never recover from Top Gear. Maybe the safest option is to stick with the show that you can do.

Sue allegedly was looking to leave GBBO already. I can't see the BBC making another baking show. Cooking yes, baking no.

Though C4 didn't give a damn about its remit so you never know.

Apparently the £500k figure was BS. Industry types say more like £250k making the £350k C4 are offering a decent rise. Almost certainly by this time the figure is in excess of that though as Hollywood holds all the cards now and is bound to be squeezing the pips out of Hunt.

And so he should. C4 made its bed.
He has to be careful though, he could end up with nobody. Unlikely. I would laugh if Paul or Mary signed up for a new show on ITV.

Simon Cowell on the phone for you, Mary.....

YBF is much cheaper than repeating ancient comedies since they don't need to pay repeat fees.

If Paul does go on his tod to Channel 4 I do not think it will make much difference to the ratings like it might have done if one of the others had too.

But he will be seen as a traitor and money grabber by some of the audience if he alone goes.

And if the BBC replace him and create a new cookery show around the other three then it will still win the battle long term.

Can see why Channel 4 are desperate to get someone to stay, but I suspect it really will not matter much to how well or badly the show does for them. He is probably not the big draw or key element of the success that he might think he is.

Bake Off is the four of them, but if it had to be part of the team only he will add the least viewers than any of the other three would and at some point it would have been better all round if Channel 4 had launched an all new show and the BBC had countered with an all new show as well with the four old presenters.

My bet is Paul will regret this move if he makes it as it will dilute both Bake Off and whatever new show the BBC create and he will get the blame.

As for those Hooten and the Lady catch up figures - doubling the audience is very good. Especially if (as someone posted earlier) viewers who watched before the episode was transmitted are not included. Many will have done that just as we did. Probably over a million with that added.

But it's not getting any viewers and often has no advertising. It may be cheap but you might as well put on Oracle pages if it isn't generating any revenue. Im sure Harry Hill is being paid.

Put Go For It as 6pm and something at 7 and you never know.

Push Strictly back to 6.10 on the Saturday, and have XF start at 8.15. And have the Strictly results at 6.45, both problems solved!

ITV put promos for the 6pm slots to have more ads for the big hitters, they only have so many ad minutes they can use between 6-10pm

Why should the BBC have to dance () around X Factor? They and we know any clash will affect X Factor more.

I can't think of a normal light entertainment show ever running for over two hours (no adverts) before. I'll be able to start watching on live pause at 7pm and still finish at 8:25. There is what, 45 minutes of actual dancing?

The XF will drop to 20:15 and 20:00 I'd assume. Maybe ITV will put Gone with the Wind up against SCD ...

Cheers. How does it work then? I assumed there was a maximum that they could have on in any one half hour or hour. I didn't realise they could stock up on adverts for TXF or whatever.

They should not. It's a reasonable start time. Whichever shoe is on first is going to win. Like Emmerdale. Assuming they're pretty even.

No it won't. Strictly Week 2 is always 2hs 5 mins as there are 15 dances to do.
