Whoever authorised all this must be kicking themselves. How much Drama/New Comedy etc... could have been funded by the money they've spent on Baking on a Channel not exactly short of food shows :O This is more money than a mid level blockbuster movie and it certainly won't have those returns- Utterly utterly baffling move by Jay Hunt”

I think her title is creative director, stealing an existing show isn't creative.

Definition of creative.
: having or showing an ability to make new things or think of new ideas.
: using the ability to make or think of new things : involving the process by which new ideas, stories, etc., are created.
: done in an unusual and often dishonest way.

Maybe her title refers to the third definition.

Where has the ratings thread gone?
Did C4 buy that as well?

Do you expect the ratings thread not to discuss the highest rated programme moving channels?

Hopefully that will give time for season 4 of Last Tango to finally get going.

"Dear Danny,
Please stop bothering us. We are not going to give you the job of presenting Bake Off. If you persist we will take out an injunction.
Yours Sincerely,
Love Productions."

Well, yes of course he would.

Yep. I agree with you. He most certainly would! It'll get loads of people talking though! And, would be good for him too. Think of the promotion he'll get!

BBC source says Paul Hollywood offered 'some appearances' in Top Gear not a full presenting role.

The same can be said for Tipping Point or any number of gameshows. It's hardly unusual to have people being nice.

What's nice to some people is soppy too others. See reality show back stories (bloody sob story about how he lost him mother as a kid..)

The best bit about all this is how Jay Hunt went crying to the media when Netflix poached Black Mirror from them, saying how Charlie Brooker and Co. had used public money to fund the show etc but now taken the pay day, and now she's the poacher!

Of course the difference was that Black Mirror went to Netflix purely because they wanted to do a full series in 2015, which Channel 4 wouldn't agree to, and they wanted to do 6 episodes, not 3. There was also the feeling that Netflix had promoted Black Mirror far more than C4 had ever done. Plus, to start with, everybody wanted a piece of Black Mirror but they went with Channel 4 due to it fitting their remit of "risky."

Oh and I can confirm that contract sent to Danny Baker is genuine but it's only for him to present the first special or take part in it, we're not sure what it is yet.

And, turn that around. What organisation made Bake Off the hit that made Hollywood the star? Did Love Productions have a platform to air Bake Off considering they themselves are not a broadcaster?

It wasn't Bake Off that made Hollywood a star. It was the BBC. Without the BBC there'd be no Bake Off and there'd be no extra Hollywood programmes on the BBC either. So, no. Bake Off did not make him a star.

Round of applause for The Grauniad:

Quote:
“However, the Bake Off shake-down has now left the unusual combination of a triumphant loser (the BBC) and a sore winner (Channel 4). They say it’s better to be inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in. Love Productions would never have expected three of its star baking quartet to be outside the tent.”

You do have to wonder if the new idiots-in-charge picked him solely because of his surname. Anything's possible with a Hunt at the helm.
