This is something I've been wondering about the sitcom season. I think scheduling will be very important. If they face soaps then forget about it. But where could these sitcoms go? Also some sitcoms will obviously be more appealing than others during Sitcom Season.

Depending on the length - post Bake Off on Wednesdays?

It would be good to have some pre-watershed sitcoms. Sadly those spaces are limited these days.

Now this season, Kelly Cates is no longer one of the presenters of the show. That to me and to most others would suggest she had been sacked (or in other words, had her contract terminated/not renewed).

It's not necessarily libellous to suggest it because we have simply come to an obvious conclusion based on what has happened. If proof or reporting emerges showing that Kelly Cates was not sacked, I will happily retract my statement.”

Kelly Cates is joining Sky this season to present live Football League games.

She is also continuing her role as a football phone-in presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live.

The fact she is being employed in significant roles by both Sky and the BBC suggests that they both think she is a good presenter - so it seems unlikely she would have been sacked by C5.

Indeed I think it's far more likely she decided to leave C5 in order to take up her new role as a live Football League presenter on Sky.

In brackets is the % rise or fall compared to the averages for their previous series. For new shows, the % is the rise or fall between the first and last episodes of the series.

BBC One Drama in 2016 so far has averaged 5.75m over about 104 hours. ITV Drama so far in 2016 has averaged 4.96m (inc +1: 5.34m) over 101 hours.”

Thanks for those ratings. I am utterly baffled that the number nine Drama of the year so far Home Fires was axed. How can ITV just leave the viewers up in the air with unresolved storylines and ignore an audience of nearly 6m? There is also an online petition with over 31.000 signatories. Yes it's only a TV programme, but ITV's lack of respect for the viewing public is disgraceful.

It's low. It still is up on the first Sunday of last year (1.17m), and I reckon with +1 it'll be around 1.5m, which is "meh", but that's the standard for the summer CBB series it seems.

I've always said it, the summer CBB shouldn't exist.

The Imitation Game is a superb British film, so it is good to see it do well for Ch4. Should be around 1.8m inc+1.

Thanks Ray.

I think Skyfall must have been higher for ITV than last week's Bond movie. Robot Wars doing okay but I doubt it will be getting closer to Top Gear

I think Skyfall will be around 3m-3.5m. But repeating the same film next Saturday is very lazy. Its bad enough on ITV2, but doing it on the main channel.

This weekends Saturday ratings might have been low, but at leasti it was al new content.

1.5m is still better than virtually everything else on Channel 5. What would they replace it with?

You're right. I've just always had a problem with Summer CBB especially when it reduces the normal series which was very good.

But like I've said, comfortably up on last year which got 1.17m, so if it is around 1.5m, a 230k climb year on year ain't that bad.
