HERE IS MY HOT TAKE ON PAUL HOLLYWOOD: BAKE OFF MADE HIM A STAR, THE OTHER THREE ALREADY HAD MEDIA CAREERS. HE IS BEING LOYAL. TAKE ENDS.”

Bake Off made him a star, the BBC "made" Bake Off (and also gave him a couple of shows of his own). So without the BBC's input and faith, Bake Off might have been a failure.

Edit; I see wizzy got there before me.

Of course the difference was that Black Mirror went to Netflix purely because they wanted to do a full series in 2015, which Channel 4 wouldn't agree to, and they wanted to do 6 episodes, not 3. There was also the feeling that Netflix had promoted Black Mirror far more than C4 had ever done. Plus, to start with, everybody wanted a piece of Black Mirror but they went with Channel 4 due to it fitting their remit of "risky."”

Channel 4 likely was the best fit for BM in terms of FTA broadcasters but it could have easily gone to Sky.

Speaking of Sky, The Trip is going to Sky Atlantic after two series on BBC Two but I assume BBC Two didn't want to do anymore hence the move

I think with The Trip went to Sky due to the BBC being a bit unhappy with it being released as a film abroad that didn't make much money, depriving them of valuable international TV sales, which means they had to fund it all out of pocket with very little of it coming back.

It's a shame, but you can't blame them. Coogan has a pretty good relationship with Sky Atlantic as well, with all his Partridge shows on there.

Doesn't BBC Worldwide partly own Baby Cow so they'll still get the sales despite not airing on the BBC. The Trip was never a big hit so it wasn't a big loss

Rather overlooked today obviously but that's a decent performance for this incarnation of Our Girl which has I think has held on to its audience.

But this is about picking sides. This is football. Which side do you support? Come on you BBC. And it's ITV.. iTV PLC, we're by far the greatest side you'll ever see.

The whole topic has jumped over Jaws and waved him bye-bye. Much of the nonsense can be attributed to the self-serving press release form Mel and Sue who swore loyalty to a channel they've occasionally worked for against a channel that made them famous. And they insinuated they declined a huge pay cheque from C4 (no actual evidence that's true) and let people infer that if Paul or Mary left they would be disloyal money-grabbers.

Meanwhile former Bake Off contestants say Sue was ready to leave Bake Off anyway. That may be true or may be more made up gossip.

You have the remarkable situation where a PSB is breaking its remit and buying an existing show for huge money. Now we are to believe that the other PSB might break its remit and make a copycat show.

Then there are fans of the show who won't watch the show because it is switching from one PSB to another. Some won't because of the talent changes though others made it clear they were done with the programme the moment it left their BBC. That's understandable because they have just bought a BBC jersey and had put Bake Off 1 on the back of the shirt.

I think we can all agree anyone who watches new Bake Off will be a Judas and should be banned from the club, I mean from watching the TV.

I'm off to write a chant about Paul Hollywood who we all hate... unless he withdraws his transfer request and stays in which case he's a hero like Mary, Mel and Sue and it'll have had nothing to do with the BBC, nay my BBC, having offered him a sweeter new deal than what that C4 lot offered him/them.

When did Danny Baker do TV last? wasnt he the presenter of the first series of Pets win prizes or some over godawful Saturday teatime game show

I would say its underwhelming. Considering the opposition and lead in. Our Girl will be for the chop.

The last time I seen him was presenting Have I Got News For You some years back.

Well they bought the name and not much to go in it.

Whilst Episode 1 was average, Episode 2 won a lot of praise and people saying it was an adrenaline run. I was looking at I Player and post Episode 2 the positive social media jumped both episodes up, so people were catching up.

It's had a lot of tabloids interested, so I differ with you, if Michelle Keegan wants to more I think the BBC will do it.

There is some comment that continuity needs a bit of improvement.

Off camera he worked on Top Gear.

@cylon - clearly we need to bring back Win, Lose or Draw.

He recently admitted to having worked as an "advisor":

Quote:
“ Danny Baker has seemingly distanced himself from Top Gear .

The writer and comedian took to Twitter to insist he is not a writer on the show, despite being named as such in the credits of the episodes.

He wrote: "It is stated I am a writer on Top Gear. I am not. I am just an advisor."”

C5's Sunday night lineup is going the right way again. From October 3:

Quote:
“1705 Now That's Funny! (New)
1805 Penn and Teller: Fool Us in Vegas (New)
1900 Ice Road Truckers (New)
1955 Ice Road Truckers (New)
2100 The Expendables 2
2305 Total Recall”

Not sure about double IRT though. One episode would suffice with Fool Us in Vegas brought forward.

At least big budget movies have returned to 9pm. Won't be disgraced with that lineup.

The Sunday lineup has been awful in recent weeks, they should have more film premieres.

I do think IRT belongs to Fridays at 8pm as it was always a solid rater on that day

I can't help but think 4 have got it wrong again here- By nabbing Paul they invite far too many comparisons with the old one- Pale imitation etc... When it became clear Mary wasn't jumping I'd have said goodbye to Paul as well, at least then they might have a shot when the heat cools of making it a 'uniquely 4 bake off' and having a totally clean break might have stemmed the flow imo

No sign of CSI: Cyber in the final schedules. Gotham repeats drafted in on Saturdays- little hope of rating but FLT renders them uncompetitive there anyway.

But away from Saturdays looking a bit more solid. And Traffic Cops is on the way soon, which should rate well by C5 standards.

Love productions are panicking getting messages out,

Who actually would believe this tripe?

Bake Off makers insist the show will have the "same recipe" even though it's just Paul Hollywood left in a tent

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/great-b...eft-in-a-tent/

" same recipe " but a changed and bad home, can make terrible food.

What a ridiculous analogy. It seems you (and others) have taken the whole thing rather personally. God knows why. I know you are extremely pro-BBC, but you act as if you have been personally affected by the move.

I imagine Cyber will end up on Tuesdays at 10pm. Traffic Cops I think would work on Mondays or Thursdays

Hollywood is there purely as a bulwark now so Jay Hunt can try and cling onto her job. Still by no means certain she'll last but think of Paul as a flabby piece of flotsam which she's clinging to ferociously in the icy waters as the boat is sinking.

She won't let go like Leo did!!

In Jay Hunt's statement, she admitted she likes Paul's twinkle. Dirty bitch!

Advertisers may be wary of forking out the big bucks:

That charity thing next year isn't going to help them with that either.

Is Channel 4 made up of the most inept executives known to man? This is staggering.
