Yep all things considered that quite a retention given XF was still playing.

Interesting to see the primetime channel share, I do miss those.

I'm surprised TXF didn't benefit from directly following SCD. Perhaps the show was just too long, but the peak isn't as high as I would've expected either.

The other way of looking at it is that, spread over two days, it gets two days worth of coverage in the press, and two days where people are talking about it. Maybe even the BBC accept the hit on ratings for this sort of double exposure on launch?

The marathon two and a half hour XF live shows with advertisements every 2 acts will struggle

X Factor retained its viewers very well over a near 2 hour period, especially so close to 10pm. Over 7 million is very good for X Factor, in my opinion.

SCD's share was absolutely fantastic.

Mrs Brown's Boys getting 4.5 million viewers on a repeat is quite astonishing for a comedy in 2016.

Newzoids - 1.79m (EXC HD & +1)
Catsdown - 910k
Football on 5 Part 1 - 470k
Football on 5 Part 2 - 430k
The Xtra Factor - 360k”

And that is why BBC1 will continue to rpt MBB. It rates even if they showed the same episode thousands of times.

Got For It looks like a definate 1 series flop.

The Xtra Factor is doing as bad as any other year. Time to axe this waste of spae I think. concentrate on TXF, and let this show end. Save some money.

Very good for Strictly Come Dancing but poor for The X Factor considering the crossover lead in. It needed to be higher than that to claim a goos figure during the usual Judges Houses drop which will not be helped by the Strictly clashes. Will people remember it starts at 7pm tonight?

In the great scheme of things it's still ITV's highest rating show of the moment but that second (?) audition show showed promise which it hasn't been able to maintain.

Casualty did very well as did Mrs. Brown's Boys. Why try something new when a repeat performs like that?

Its a shame we rarely see demos posted for UK ratings, as I suspect the demos for the MBB repeat were horrendous!

True but no one seems to care about demos in this thread

X Factor is an independent show in the schedules, it doesn't leech off SCD for its audience as some on here go on about, as last week's 7.7m proved - where was SCD then?

If anything, XF boosted SCD, given how close the latter's peak was to the former's start time

I reckon they'll try to keep the shows under 2 hours this year. Looks fairly likely there will only be 12 contestants in the live shows for a start.

What brand new comedy this year has rated higher than last nights mbb repeat, even the comedy seasons offerings were either just higher or lower.

The provisional schedules have the first live show down for a 2 hour slot (8-10pm). Obviously could change but hopefully they'll stick with it.

Looks like Go For It completely died on around 2m (possibly even below it). Must have been one of the worst XF lead-ins ever.

It should leech off Strictly though. Two Saturday night shiny floor shows one following the other; why SHOULDN'T they boost each other in turn? You said yourself that The X Factor may have boosted Strictly - well quite rightly so. And it should have worked the other way round too.

With the long clashes coming in The X Factor is going to be trundling along around the 6m mark at best. How much is that new contract worth again?

If you chase demos you sometimes end up not getting enough of any of them. I'd take that 4m for a sitcom as not many others can get that.

By the same logic, surely The X Factor could have benefited more than it did from the 9m Strictly peak at 19:50, given that there was only the weak Nick Knowles Lottery quiz keeping viewers on BBC One at the 8pm junction?

Go for It looks to be almost exactly the same format as You Bet! In the 90s

It's another example of a show that was a big hit in the 90s not translating as such in 2016. Like a lot of light entertainment and game shows.

I think it's a good slot for Comedy though, especially MBB as bawdy escapism as people are looking for something light and funny at that time

If I were BBC One next year I might try one of the revivals there:

Maybe:
5.45-6 30-Pointless Celeb's
6 30-8.30 Strictly Come Dancing
8.30-9.15- His Dark Materials
9 15-9.30- National Lottery Draws
9.30-10- Are you being Served?

And shorten Casualties run and reintroduce it after AYBS has finished?

Last year had 45 minute clashes and it still overnighted 7.8m.
And given that the YOY drops, if any, are MUCH smaller than last year, you seem to have arrived at 6m through total non-logic.

It's worth what the show is worth - a lot. we may see a consolidated rating today, in the region of 9.2m. Great ratings, XF is a big show!

Possibly MBB has been given a slightly bigger boost by the well received live episode, and maybe translate forward to Christmas too.

Agree. Whilst some posters are making eXcuses for X factor, it still
Is uninspiring and poor against SCD shows people are avoiding XF.
