It wasn't a drastically different performance to two weeks ago (the only other episode this series in the same slot) though, was it? That got 6.8m with no clash (and a peak of 7.9m).
I agree it should have been a bit higher but I wasn't expecting much more. The breakdown shows it averaged 5.2m from 7.30-8pm and 7.0m from 8-9pm so the clash was clearly an issue.
The share is low, you're right, but it is actually up slightly on the Sunday judges houses share last year. Not much to brag about I know, but still.
As for the live shows, you could well be right. Next Saturday will be rubbish anyway because of the extended clash and shitty You've Been Framed lead-in.
I actually think the contestants are decent. The outrage seems to be directed towards 2 particular acts. I can see why, there's often 1 novelty act but 2 is a bit much. I suspect it's probably happened because the producers aren't all that confident in either so will probably use next week to see which one could possibly last a bit. I imagine the other will be binned quite quickly (as in no effort made to keep them in a singoff etc) as I can't see them persisting with 2 novelty acts for weeks on end. The talent is actually pretty decent outside of those 2 acts but obviously a few others missed out. A wildcard place wouldn't hurt at this point.
