Thanks to you both - great info - and at great speed!

On the face of it 1.4m looks a bit disappointing then - I would expect it to be lower than 2012 - but the lower level of excitement wouldn't justify a fall to anything like that degree.

We often hear about viewing on "other" devices not counted by BARB - whether that really is having a discernible impact I don't know but I guess there is a possibility it may explain some of the fall. I don't read this thread as much as I used to - I don't know whether anyone on here has any analysis on this issue.

A quick question: an overnight figure posted on this thread has gone done in numbers on the Barb website 7 day figure.

How and why does this occur? I thought that figures could only go up once on demand and PVR viewers are taken into account?

That's a really great rating for the Theroux documentary, much higher than I imagined which is maybe why the two dramas were down?

From Saturday:

Robin Parker ‏@robinparker55 12m12 minutes ago
BBC2 Saturday arts night met with a shrug: Betjeman 740k/ railway poetry 580k/ Kate Tempest 180k/ Artsnight 110k. BBC4 ahead most of the way

And from Friday (can't remember if this was posted):
Overnights.tv ‏@overnightstv 48s49 seconds ago
#GrahamNorton returned on Friday to BBC One with @AnnaKendrick47 to be watched by 3.3m and 26.7% @grahnort http://overnights.tv
Thanks for posting these, I think that's good for Graham Norton but disappointing for BBC2 poetry, not sure what they were expecting but the reviews for Kate Tempest were good.

10 BBC Two - 09:00 PM Louis Theroux - Savile 2.668m 12%
Making the top 10 is even better.

Thank you for the data. I am currently curating the ratings for the show on Wikipedia and they are a bit anal about the figures being citated with web links like twitter and the like.(I know it is so annoying)

Last year, I just used DS articles but they don't upload the ratings % anymore so I am working on scraps now.

It may not have been shown in all regions at the same time.
Which programme?

Thanks for these numbers.

Interesting to see that, contrary to what optimists believe, you can't just put art programmes on a major channel and hope they'll automatically meet a mass audience. 180k must be significantly lower than the channel average for a Saturday night.

That's a pity because the Kate Tempest show had moments of brilliance, despite one or two naffer moments.

On the other hand, that must be one of the highest ratings ever for a live poetry reading.

From rzt

Sunday 2nd October Overnights
BBC One
Countryfile: 5.64m (31.7%)
Strictly Come Dancing: 8.15m (36.6%)
* peak: 8.62m (36.3%) at 19:45
Antiques Roadshow: 5.11m (22.5%)
Poldark: 4.63m (20.7%)

ITV (inc +1)
The Chase: Celebrity Special: 2.87m (15.4%)
The X Factor: 6.37m (27.9%)
* peak: 7.72m (32.4%) at 20:50
Victoria: 4.96m (22.2%)

I'm never predicting anything again

I wouldn't call Poldark a failure but it hasn't set the ratings alight this year.
I think Poldark had an easier ride for it's first series with a delay going into the second not exactly helping it.

SCD doing well for a Sunday and TXF peaking as people turn on for Victoria again ? It is going to hang around those 6 numbers for the live shows, which I guess is ok, but nothing spectacular.
Bit of a naff rating for XF. In fairness it's in line with the Sunday judges houses show last year but that isn't something to shout about. The scheduling was terrible but I'm surprised the peak was so low. Something similar happened with the Sunday judges houses show in 2013 (the only other year they used this format) so it isn't entirely surprising but it's not good really. As for how last night's results will impact it going forwards...I'm not sure.

The 9pm dramas both look a bit low too.
From rzt:
Saturday 24th September Consolidated ratings:
Strictly Come Dancing- 10.13m (+1.49m timeshift)
The X Factor: 8.77m inc +1 (+1.69m timeshift)

Sunday 25th September Consolidated ratings are not out yet. But rough estimations seem to be: X Factor: c.8.5m (inc +1), Victoria: c.7.6m (inc +1), Poldark: c.6.5m

And a breakdown:
Code:
Time	BBC 1 ITV (inc. +1)

18:05	4.28m (26.8%) 1.40m (8.8%)

TXF not even cracking 9 million in consolidated numbers is quite poor.

Good numbers for Victoria and Poldark, great to see two dramas going head to head and bringing in decent numbers between them.
So everyone was making a mountain out of a molehill yesterday? I think not.

That share looks really low to me, as does the peak. And given the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the acts put through, I can see the lives proving a struggle as well.
Thanks lewi.

Actually I'm quite suprised at some of these ratings. I expected BBC1 to be higher for all programmes. Poldark has just hit a series low (as did Victoria) with SCD in the schedule.

The Chase isn't doing too badly, though I'm pretty sure a regular edition would be doing better. The lower rating for this compared with Pointless it also the fact that TC and TXF don't share as similar demo, as Pointless does with SCD. The Chase would probably do better leading into BGT, and have Take Me Out leading into TXF.

TXF is poor, and its only just going to get worse. They had an audience willing to watch a another series if they didn't piss about, and actually make a good show. They had 10m+ consolidated at one point. But now they have shot themselves in the foot, they have no-one to blame but themselves, if the ratings fall off a cliff. Based on this, I expect next Saturday show too be around 6m. ITV relying on a YBF rpt as a lead in to to give TXF a leg up? Well what do they expect.....a miracle.

It looks to me like both parties (ITV and Syco) are trying to kill the show off. Poor lead in, poor content.

Lets hope the two waste of spaces put through both go out week 1, and steady the ship. But tbh, I expect the talent to be voted out and the rubbish to continue on.
I generally agree with all these comments, the " honest" truth is out there and more and more, everyone is starting to agree that the XF is under performing, it's not making any mountain out of a molehill, it's really on the slide, and beyond disappointing.

I know there are one/ two posters who support the XF and tend to make a big noise about it, and reply back quickly, trying to be positive on the dire XF ratings, but fact is fact is fact, it is way under performing. The changes this year haven't arrested the decline, they blamed, Nick, Caroline unfairly last year, - OK Olly was bad, but the negativity even in the pro XF forum here is building week by week.

Many posted they will not watch again last night, Loius is beyond a joke, away with the fairies, Simon so out of touch, so in the 1960s - "take your make up off, Luv," how to upset 50% of the population there, so un PC, must have read the Donald Trump guide to speaking to women there. The show is stuck in some kind of time warp, they need the Doctor to bring them all into 2016!

Poldark was fantastic last night, pity the ratings have slid a bit but seems to always be high on IPlayer, each week they do so much, another main character was lost in a tearful and dramatic way.

SCD gets the viewers in through the turnstiles, it shows how much XF has fallen and that the viewers are there just avoid XF.

I didn't realise it was so complicated. Makes sense as there aren't many ratings reports to link to. What about linking to posts on here?

7.65m for Victoria consolidated V an overnight of 5.26m. +2.39m

6.5m for Poldark consolidated V an overnight of 5.15m. +1.35m

Despite similar overnights, Victoria has managed to extend to lead in consolidated ratings. Its not often an ITV drama can outmuscle an BBC drama, especially one that has been trumpeted so much. And that two dramas can rate well alongside each other. This time last year we were predicting that Poldark would likely kill off Victoria if ITv didn't launch it first.

Clearly the 1st series recieved many floating viewers.

Victoria in its consolidated ratings are remarkably consistent.

Haha. 26° but too cloudy - though you don't mind that at the start of your hols. They're on the same timezone too which has completely confused 3/Moviestar who keep giving me Spanish time. I had to change my phone clock manually - took me 10 minutes to work that out!

Back on topic... Err X Factor!! It is a nonsense to call this bit a fix because it's not the viewers vote. It's not really a fix if the show decided to put different people through than what the show might have done.

If you're a good singer and want to go on a talent show, go on BGT. That puts people through who aren't all that.

So use think audience figures will be up because of her ?
Yes. I bet she doesn't perform during the clash with SCD. She has the ability to become a Chico who gets some watercooler action.

When I looked at that list of finalists I least impressed by Nicole's picks. They'll soon go once the teen vote gets swamped.

Brookes I hear are managed by Sinitta. They won't last either. I've no idea what Simon relationship story is.

Technically they're both ITV dramas.

Both would be higher away from each other. One was always going to lose out in the battle but I would say Poldark's ratings are still respectable. I think it's already been recommissioned anyway.

Perhaps it's because Scotland joined it at 7pm.

Our Girl - 5.54m
Paranoid - 5.52m (5.16m exc. +1)
Casualty - 5.39m
.
A lot of posts have been quoted about how the XF is in crisis and hasn't recovered and the changes are failing and how SCD thrashes it and how the negative hot takes means it is in doooomed...

3rd most watched show on then. Third. In autumn. Exclude the adverts and it's about 1m below SCD.
Paranoid beat Casualty and matched Our Girl. Both were closer to Poldark than Victoria was.

How many watched episode 2 of Paranoid though is the $64m...
