I like Cold Feet on a Sunday but looking at its ratings I don't think it would be doing as well as Victoria

As expected worthy PSB on BBC1 hardly registered. Pointless and The Chase look close, wish we had some tape checked ratings to look at for those two.

Whilst I have been surprised that the overnights for Cold Feet haven't been higher, I do think it's worthy of a recommission. It's a relationship drama, a genre they've struggled in, the audience is more upmarket than most ITV dramas (according to Broadcast the ABC1 skews for episodes 1 and 2 were 57% and 56% respectively) and it consolidates really well (much better than Home Fires did off similar overnights). Definitely worth another go. If you're getting rid of shoes that consolidate to 6.5m+ then you're mad.

Then schedule it away from such competition which is what they did here. It's the second most-watched drama currently on. Clearly much of its audience doesn't care about watching it straight away. It's also not an expensive costume drama or another standard murder drama.

I doubt Cold Feet is attracting the OAP crowd so ITV is probably pleased with its demos. It's not Downton or Victoria; I imagine it'll do better with 35 year olds than 55 year olds.

ITV need to establish schedules at 9pm. As James said really but not quite so extensive. 9pm should be quality 6 days a week meaning drama or quality documentaries. If they roll drama after drama on Mondays then it'll get there.

Of course they need to be good too and may need to be co-productions. Some of those shows may start at 8pm or 8:30. The BBC has largely already done this either through BBC1 or 2.

Precisely. Cold Feet has done well too. It's not a mystery like Broadchurch so people aren't worried about hearing a spoiler at work. They can watch it whenever.

A programme is more likely to do well if it's in a slot that the channel tends to win. It means there's a habit of people coming to you and those people are probably not hooked in to the alternative on the other side.

All three of the big soaps are pretty much level with each other! It's so strange to see!

Just seen the first reviews of The Crown which starts a month today. It looks to be very well received and talk is of the excellent chemistry between Claire Foy and Matt Smith as Princess Elizabeth and Philip. Which is a key part of whether this vastly expensive series is going to work.

First episode is set in 1947 and the first series will cover the 1950s with future series continuing the reign of Queen Elizabeth II - assuming they are commissioned based on viewing figures and likely a few series on, of course, with different actors in the lead roles.

How are Netflix figures measured, does anyone know, please? How quickly will we get a sense post 4 November of how well this show is doing?

Though I guess if does very well (like Westworld on HBO yesterday and Sky tonight) they will shout it loud enough themselves.

Of course it will. Nesbitt and Thomson need it to fill their egos.

You'd think so. One poster though seems to think JR boosts Strictly which I still can't quite fathom.

Netflix never release viewing figures, because they don't have to. As they collect their own 'ratings', the public don't have to see them.

I'm not that sure that ratings even matter that much for Netflix, it's more about getting the original content out there so people sign up.

I think Cold Feet sits perfectly well on a Monday, I don't associate Sunday's with this type of relationship drama. Sunday's is more period dramas and traditional crime dramas.

Plus if Cold Feet was on Sunday that would mean Victoria would have been on Monday and that wouldn't have sat well at all.

Maybe. It needs some sort of boost because it's never really recovered from ITV repeating the first 20 editions too soon.
