I don't know if peaktime Crimewatch is declining, or at least no worse than anything else in peaktime.
I don't recall it getting great numbers in recent years - 2 to 3m an edition from my hazy recollection. I can just imagine the daft schedulers at the BBC pairing one hour Watchdog with one hour Crimewatch on Thursday nights in September from 8 - 10pm. It would turn off a lot of viewers.

How does that compare to other series? If I've worked it out right that's a last week of October finish?

I think if Channel 5 wants to get into comedy, I think reviving Whose Line it is Anyway? would be a good bet, it's done well in America and the recent live shows have been successful.

If there are 12 Bakers it usually runs for 10 weeks so that takes it to the 26th of October. Bit later than usual (the start is a couple of weeks later because of the Olympics).

BBC One on Twitter has announced that Poldark is returning on Sunday 4 September.

Edit - Seems this has already been confirmed a few weeks ago (first I'd heard of a start date for it).

The awful Thursday night benefit shows are all part of the same series. Next week is episode 22 of 24 so there are only three more.
In the PI issued today the episode number is showing as 24/30 so it looks like it's been extended.

Prepare for 6 more weeks of the same old points being made about this largely irrelevant programme.

Well, well...So much for them winding down the Benefits commissions under the shiny new Viacom regime. Has ever the phrase, "Same shit different day" been more appropriate?

Do we have a start date for Ordinary Lies yet? I'm guessing Tuesday 23 August.

With the Olympics finishing on August 21 will the Autumn season be brought forward or will we have two weeks of filler until September
In terms of BBC1, I think the summer season starts then with Ordinary Lies, Bake Off etc.

Not sure about Crimewatch being every week for a few weeks, but at least it looks like it is keeping a proper hour long 9pm slot.

It looked like it had been secretly dropped as it hasn't aired for months, and then when it announced it was going weekly I assumed a dumbed down 30 min job opposite Corrie on a Monday.

It'll be much easier to schedule though, as I think Crimewatch is the last of these monthly series in prime time, and it did tend to appear at random on any one of 4 days at any point during a month.

Ok, thanks for that, so presuming It stays on Tuesdays, It can't start until 20th September then, strange considering it was In the "Summer" trailer.

From the looks of the cast photos in the other thread of the new episode of Goodnight, Sweetheart all the main cast are returning - so this will be the one thing in the sitcom season with the original writers and cast doing a new story.

The other shows are either prequels like the one to Keeping up appearances, with same characters but recast as younger people, sequels like the Porridge update or complete recastings (Hancock, Steptoe, Till death us do part, The Good Life and Are you being served?)

Be interesting to see what works best out of this array of ideas.

Maybe we will see a drama remake/recast season in future. Though I expect that is less likely as it would cost more to recreate dramas than sitcoms.

Could we see a GBBO/Apprentice pairing from the start then do we think?

No. Lord Sugar has tweeted a few times that The Apprentice will launch in October.

Won't be live if it's starting at 10pm but I imagine they will be showing the whole set on delay given the length of the programme.

Should rate quite well.

I see that One Of Us is written by Harry and Jack Williams, the writers of acclaimed ratings hit The Missing. Ill be interesting to see if this new offering fares as well.

BBC1 have started trailing series 2 of Our Girl. I wonder if that will get paired with Great British Bake Off on Wednesdays. Didn't series 1 skew quite young (starring, as it did, a popular young female soap star to be replaced by another popular young female soap star this time round)? And Bake Off has a large young audience so the BBC may feel the two shows could sit well together.

Interesting to see how the opening ceremony does-should be quite some share after midnight. Only saw the first 90 minutes but although it was hugely colourful as you would expect, it couldn't hold a candle to London imo-in fact it made me appreciate Danny Boyle and the whole London effort even more topped off with brilliant comedy inserts.
