Tuesday's should be a strong night for Ch5 with Yorkshire Vet at 8pm and New Lives in the Wild at 9pm.
Can make the most of ITV's weakness here. Also looking forward to Extreme Railways. |

Didn't realise they was going to be a new series of Extreme Railways, the last series did very well for 5 increasing week on week and that was with a three year gap between series! I assume Mondays or Thursday at 9pm.
They're also repeating the first two series in stacks on my5 in the run up to the Series 3 launch. |

Tuesdays seems a good option, partly because of ITV's weakness on that night, but I'd have been tempted to put it back on Fridays again on the basis that it's about the only thing that has rated well for Five on a Friday night in the past few years. |

anyone know when Jane's new show is on.
" all At Sea With Jane McDonald" should be October, Not unusual for Five to change plans last minute. Tour de Celeb has been pushed back about three times now I think, but will apparently finally air in November - which seems daft, as it surely had more chance of finding an audience directly after the Olympics. |

Saw Jane last week in Birmingham she was full of this new show. Also full theatre which was nice to see these days, think she is stiil quite poplar. |

That seems little more than a guess, to be honest. Besides, French and Saunders are mates with Mel and Sue - Mel and Sue used to write for them, and some of their first TV work was on their show - so why would they want to do it?
I agree that it is unlikely they'd have said yes though not for the same reasons. I am not sure it's their thing, Dawn has LBShots which should be huge, they would be compared negatively and that would be demeaning to them. I don't think they'd have any reason to be loyal to Mel and Sue. Ive no idea if they are still friends or not but since Mel and Sue walked away from the show, there is no reason for sensitivity. It ain't happening anyway so it's moo as Tribiani would say. |

Looks like it'll be Mondays so a competitive enough slot for it but should find an audience once again. Viewers took a while to find it last series, but I imagine it skews pretty upmarket compared to some of Five's typical weekday programming, so that makes sense.

Do you think New Lives in the Wild can carry on where it left off or has it peaked?

Migration aired on Friday but I think it should aired on a different night to take advantage of the stronger 8pm lead ins, Fridays at 8pm are pretty weak, I don't know how well Britain's Greatest Bridges will do but it's a good alternative for Fridays nights. I wouldn't be surprised if Tour de Celeb will be a 10pm show |

Corrie have some troubles looming. Their objection to a new tram line has been overruled by the government and the line from Salford Quays to the Trafford Centre will start building by the end of the year.
It is ironic for a show that has used the Metrolink and the tram crash to push for big ratings just before they moved to the new set to now claim to face problems as a result of the same thing. The new line will pass right by the set, there will be a station nearby and they expect it will create chaos with tannoy announcements on top of the hooting trams. They claim not to have known this line was in the offing when they rebuilt the set though it has been in consideration for a while so they tried to get it moved to a new alignment away from them and the nearby attractions like the War Museum also on the route. So it is amusing that for years they have pretended the street is near to trams and added in artificial tram sounds to episodes all the time, then used them for big ratings but now that real trams will be passing by they are upset in case the noise interferes with filming. Maybe an anti Metrolink storyline could be in the offing as revenge though there is talk of some modernisation to the plans to deaden sound. It is just ironic that they used the trams to such good effect when they were not there but are now getting het up over them passing the back door after moving near the already existing line to the Quays. |

JR Ewing has his own mountain. As great as Jack and Vera became even they didn't fill the Stan and Hilda void. From the singing to the gossiping to the cattiness to the ducks to the bossing of Stan and Eddie there really was not a soap star who pulled every heartstring. It's a remarkable testament to Jean Alexander that she created a character that could become the most beloved character in Britain's favourite tv show. Even more remarkable because she never really got the stories that Bet and Ken got. Thinking back to the 80s I feel she was every bit as popular as Del Boy, JR and Arthur Daley. She wasn't the star like them though, she just stole scenes. Woman Stanley, woman. |

I seriously wonder about ITV and their decision making. So many hosts you could choose from...

On the Mount Rushmore of UK soaps... Den, Hilda and Elsie might well be the most common picks. Hilda actually I would say is the GOAT of UK soaps and ranks with Alexis Colby. Rarefied air indeed.

She wasn't the star like them though, she just stole scenes. Woman Stanley, woman. She stuck to her guns and never went back, the show became something she didn't always appreciate it would seem. Surprised to read she was Auntie Wainwright in LOTSW for 22 years too-didn't think it was that long tbh. RIP Jean Alexander. |

Maybe they will want the industrial estates to the south closed down next? |
