Do you think they'll ever bring back Dancing On Ice? It certainly did well when it started but like XF it started to experience declines every year. For it's final series in 2014 the performance shows were averaging very similar to what XF got last night and DOI was axed.”
Yes that might be an option going forwards. Some of those result ratings could be quite low, but it's definitely an option. Another could even be to do it all in one show (they could make voting app only like the Sunday lifeline vote so counting would be much quicker) although that could be a bit of a marathon. I could definitely see them going back to one night at some point though.
As for Dancing on Ice, maybe. Kevin Lygo has said he wishes the former management had never axed it as nothing they've put in the slot since has got near its figures. The difference between XF and DOI was demographics though, 6m XF viewers is a lot more valuable to ITV than 6m DOI viewers. But I think they might well do, maybe in a couple of years. It'll probably depend on how The Voice goes and where it is scheduled (still no idea what they're doing with that), but I certainly can't see both X Factor AND The Voice running beyond 2019 so there will probably be an opening.

Midweek would probably be great for XF but it'd leave SCD starting at 7 and finishing at 9. The only option for ITV would be a two hour drama starting at 7. The danger is people just record ITV and all the Beeb has to do is start SCD before 7. But is it worth it if ITV dominate Tuesday and Wednesdays?
It's also worth remembering that ITV could dominate Saturdays for the half of next year.”
I think audiences associate X Factor with Saturday nights. It is intrinsically a Saturday night show and I think moving it midweek would be a disaster. We've already seen with BGT and even Strictly how audiences are less and less keen to watch these talent shows on weeknights. We don't have the same culture of midweek entertainment shows that they do in other territories (where Saturdays are a wasteland). Dramas (maybe outside of family adventure stuff) would feel odd on Saturdays too and wouldn't work for the same reason.
