Thanks Ray.

I wonder if The Apprentice's Fall was due in part to The Fall's rise?

Maybe. I don't watch a lot of TV anymore, but Thursday 9pm for me is very competitive, I watch The Apprentice, The Fall and Hunted, I assume quite a few people do that too, so they must record 2, watch 1, watch 1 on +1 (Hunted), watch one real time, have one on record, etc...

I can never watch Hunted on +1 either because of Celebrity Juice at 10. Too many things to watch on Thursdays!

Yes me too, plus You're Fired.

I tend to watch The Fall live and then catch up with TA but not always on the night.

Would be interesting to know how much those programmes have been consolidating at, as though they are ostensibly quite different offerings there is a fair bit of a cross over audience I would suspect?

The last two weeks opposite The Apprentice, The Fall went to 1.85m then 1.80m last week. Now last night it has gone back over 2m. I wonder why?

Perhaps there is a New Tricks sized hole in the BBC's schedules this year.

Anyway, we need Mike Teevee and his top 20 lists or Bushmills now. Somebody send up the signal!

Good ratings for the soaps.

Jamie Dornan nude? The Fall should have aired on Mondays after Ripper Street.

There is. There is certainly a Monday night drama gap in the Autumn.

What do you make of the big soap week? Feels a bit random to me like it wasn't given enough of a build. The ratings are good but don't look particularly high to me.

I think The Fall would have survived opposite Cold Feet. It gets similar overnights to Ripper Street but higher timeshift.

So 6.6m and 6.8m for Emmerdale.

Monday 6.2m
Tuesday 6.4m
Wednesday 6.5m
Thursday 6.6m & 6.8m
Friday 6.9m?

It has certainly built throughout the week, so is it likely to post the highest rating tonight with Coronation Street leading out?

I think its done fine this week, escpecially considering its 2nd ep last night matched Corrie's Wednesday ep.

900k for BT showing the ManU game. It's a good rating for BT but it's barely more than a weak Super Sunday game.

It is a 10% rise for Emmerdale which is not bad but nothing exceptional. The positive for the soaps must be that not many non-viewers would have known there was something special happening.
The negative for the soaps is the possibility that 7m is about their overnight ceiling now. If true, we have around 8m people who are willing to watch the three soaps and around 5m who'll watch the two BBC medical soaps.

The three soaps are still in the same ballpark as XF so they're still popular. ITV has reduced the amount of XF minutes though, they aren't about to increase them.
