As for Celebrity Big Brother, the first few officials look incredibly promising:

Quote:
“CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (THU 28 JULY 2016) 2.71m
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (FRI 29 JULY 2016) 2.13m
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (SAT 30 JULY 2016) 2.00m
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (SUN 31 JULY 2016) 2.11m”

Equivalent week last year:

Quote:
“CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (THU 27 AUG 2015) 2.66m
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (FRI 28 AUG 2015) 2.03m
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (SAT 29 AUG 2015) 1.42m
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER (SUN 30 AUG 2015) 1.71m”

2016 average after 4 episodes: 2.24m (+0.28m)

Admittedly being able to screen the first Saturday H/L show at 9pm this year made a big difference, but all the other episodes are up y-o-y too. And that's despite airing in mid summer this year as opposed to the end of summer / start of autumn which tends to be a little bit easier ratings wise in terms of viewers being around, albeit facing bigger competition.

I could see them sticking to this scheduling next year as well.

Extremely promising. That Saturday rating is massive for C5 and time shifted 650k as it had a 1.35m overnight. Thanks for this Dan.

Also noted the last 2 officials of the regulations series lead to an official of 1.58m for the whole series above the first C5 series and the last two series. The last civilian series is up 220k on the previous most importantly.

They're probably using up their permitted showings.....

WENTWORTH PRISON (TUE 2200) 658,000

When was the last time 5STAR got ratings this high other than for Home And Away, Neighbours or Big Brother?

Back in Feb/March when Shannara Chronicles and Heroes Reborn started. Both ended with lower figures than that though, closer to the half a million mark, whereas I expect Wentworth to be a lot more consistent at this level.

I didn't even realise that Heroes Reborn or The Shannara Chronicles did that well for 5STAR.....

The first EastEnders break didn't exactly work out well as BBC1 and BBC2 didn't stay in step with each other, so viewers missed a dive in the middle of the diving final and were forced to watch trailers instead.

Olympic gymnastics due to finish around 10.30pm, and a fraction of a point between the top 3!
Looks like there'll be an immediate switch from BBC2 to BBC1 at that moment, regional news might be in the bin.
Womens' rugby sevens bronze medal match (GB vs Canada) also due to start at 10.30pm, that'll be BBC Four

EDIT: BBC regional news changed from 10.30pm (15 mins) to 10.25pm (shorter)

That's going to make headlines in the DM tomorrow.
If Helen Skelton's skirt can then I'm sure a missed dive will.....

It's a bit like that occasion when they cut the BBC News down during Wimbledon, committed to it, and then it looked daft on screen as Murray finished quicker than expected.

The news was shortened so they could show the whole of the Rugby Sevens on BBC One, but now due to the Gymnastics overrunning they've gone with that instead, having committed to the news shortening, and it just looks like they've switched channels 15 minutes early for no real reason.

Thanks Dancc and Ray Tings.

Impressed with the Olympic ratings on BBC2. Nearly 5m at 8pm then number one at 10pm. Also the soaps on ITV were pretty much unaffected and held up better than EastEnders.

Presumably that's BBC Two's biggest audience of the year so far? I can't think of anything that's done anywhere near that number off the top of my head.

BBC2's highest overnight rating of 2016 it looks like. Will anything beat Top Gear's consolidated episode 1 rating of 6.42m?

That'll be very hard to beat.

Does anyone know what University Challenge got in its slightly earlier than usual timeslot of 7:30 yesterday?
