Of course they are, but I don't know why everyone comes to the Ratings Thread to vent about it each week.
I know people post opinions about other shows too but nowhere near as much.

Well Dan, maybe, and I'm saying this nicely, don't respond to the negative posts. It drags the thread down to ridiculous levels and we continue to go on the merry go round yet again. Ok, it's discussion, but it's tiring to read.

I'm really enjoying both X Factor and Strictly to be honest

I'd still pick Strictly over Ninja Warrior, the same way people picked Strictly over Take Me Out. A few young people would watch and then the older viewers wouldn't. Ninja Warrior UK didn't do that well in a head to head with Pointless Celebrities either. Some shows you just choose to watch first like Britain's Got Talent or I'm A Celebrity which don't get challenged at all most years. I think ITV could do better opposite Strictly but Strictly would still be huge.

I thought it was poor show tonight. Two illnesses and weird marking, especially for Ore where the bias is clear. Not impressed.

But why would anybody, especially a commercial channel, put something decent up against a juggernaut? I very much doubt that advertisers are queuing up to be featured in this slot. You're saying this like Strictly hasn't been beating all comers for a decade.

Well the illnesses cant be helped, plus Will Young ofcourse but I agree a bit about Ore. Good but not that good imo. They desperately need someone to look like they can challenge Danny Mac who for me (more than anyone else in the history of the show) is just a few training sessions away from a being a pro.

Wouldn't say it was poor though, still entertaining even if its not running entirely smooth this year.

Are there any moderators on this forum? A handful of people totally ruin this thread and yet the old pros (they know who they are) keep on posting insightful, interesting, helpful things - they have the patience of saints.

I'm not saying anything ITV put up against SCD will beat it, but something tha will do more than 2m.

ITV used to get 5m+ against SCD with TV Burp. We know NWUK can do 4-5m on a good day, and has a loyal 3-4m audience. Even getting 3.5m against SCD would match what the Lottery is getting against TXF with less competition.

TXF is becoming weaker, and so is the schedule around TXF. Eventually something drastic needs to happen.

A default audience does often exist on BBC One in certain circumstances, but I doubt it does for Strictly. People aren't going to watch week in week out just because Ninja Warrior isn't on.

I also disagree with your suggestion that people are only watching Holby City by default as well. That's been on every week for years, whereas people may default to some cheap factual about supermarkets I doubt they will watch an ongoing drama every week.

Certain people are irrational beyond belief, trotting out the same old crap like they own a bloody programme themselves.

I hope "Who Dares Wins" rates better than "5 Star Family Reunion". It is a far better Quiz show.

The Chase manages 3.1m against SCD on Sunday. So why should Meet The Parents be pulling in 2m?

There are more viewers around that those who just watch SCD. SCD attract 40-50% of viewers. That is still 50% audience available.

I refuse to accept ITV should be settling for 2m viewers against SCD. No matter how many times you tell me ITV are doing the best they can.

Danny Mac is apparently very well trained from his time in performance school. You could argue it makes the show a sham but it's just celebrities dancing so hardly matters.


Or they could stick with MTP and see if it can grow. How can it be compared to the Chase when that show is an established show with a baked in audience?

I've just watched MTP and it was shockingly good, far more enjoyable than Strictly. If they put Ninja against Strictly it would get crushed.

TV Burp had one good year in 2009 when Strictly was struggling but SCD was revamped and beat up Burp in 10. At times tonight SCD was cringeworthy awful with its jokes but it is a pair of slippers to millions now.

Since ITV stick all of its adverts on XF it's not worth guillotining shows like Ninja.

I'd like to see them swap MTP with Tipping Point since one show is safe from the axe but MTP is much better counter programming to SCD and clearly is pulling in the younger demographic. Since it's the same demographic that XF want, that makes sense.

Great for strictly, Jonathan Ross seems to be getting a boost from being on after X factor

Brilliant for Strictly, underwhelming for X Factor, good for Jonathon Ross though.

Strong average but unspectacular peak. When BGT gets 10.1m it's peaking with 11.3, 4, 5. The time also shows XF gave it a leg-up.
Not ideal for XF but higher than The Voice's 4m, so up 50% on that. Up week on week too.
