I predict about 13 mill for GBBO finale! I'll be watching. I reckon Candice will win.

I hope the BBC make it as difficult as possible for Channel 4.

The Bake Off I know and love is ruined.
Meh, it's become more of an obstruction, what with it shunting The Apprentice onto a more competitive night & stopping BGT from being the year's #1 show.

Awwww, poor little BGT for not being the highest rated show of the year.

Has Strictly Come Dancing ever been the most watched show of the year? I don't think it ever has. Maybe 2017 will be its year.

Ludicrous. The Apprentice has never aired at 8pm.

Ladies and gents, I give you...

The Agenda - 875,000
Solid rating there. Tom Bradby has really proven himself to be a real ratings draw. Hopefully ITV will promote him as host of The X Factor next year.

He means Apprentice would be on Wednesdays at 9pm if there was no Bake Off.

Apprentice was like GBBO last week what with the cooking task. Apprentice just then had so much more in the episode too.

I don't understand that? It was Wednesday at 9 last year with Bake Off at 8. It was a decision by the BBC to move Apprentice nothing to do with Mary Berry.

Does BGT have some kind of divine right to be number 1 programme that I don't know about?

No it's never been most watched of the year before. Who knows? We don't know what will get the top spot next year. It's difficult to predict because, unlike this year, there's no massive events next year. Unless a royal dies or a major news story.

The World Athletics Championships are in London next year, so we could see some high ratings there, albeit not stratospheric.

Ludicrous. The Apprentice has never aired at 8pm.
Exactly, how is it the Bake Off's fault that The Apprentice was moved to a different night? The Beeb could've kept it on Wednesday's if they had wanted. The Missing is in its place instead.

You are so strange.

You look at successful TV shows as if they are damaging towards some sort of career for you.

Delusional.

Here's how previous Bake Off finals have rated:

2010 - 2.47m (10.6%)
2011 - 4.56m (20.0%)
2012 - 6.54m (25.3%), peak - 7.20m (27.0%) at 20:50
2013 - 8.42m (32.6%), peak - 9.10m (34.1%) at 20:50
2014 - 12.29m (49.0%), peak - 13.32m (51.2%) at 20:50
2015 - 13.40m (54.8%), peak - 14.50m (57.2%) at 20:55

Being bold, I would predict 14.5m. But can it really top last year's final? Last year's final increased 3.2m on the previous week so the same could happen this time around.

It would be disappointing if it rated lower than last year. Obviously there's the feeling that it would smash last year's as it is the last final on BBC 1 but, I don't know, are the 3 finalists as memorable as Nadiya and Tamal? We shall see tomorrow! Really want it to smash last year's rating, massive ratings like that are rare these days.

I think we will see the highest ever final. It's the last true GBBO final.

Let's not forget the clash with Man Utd v Man City on Sky Sports which could stop Bake Off from reaching such heights.

I'm afraid live sport wins for me. I'll catch up on Bake Off another day.

Who are these guests who want to appear on a chat show that won't air?
You'd think they'd screen it on itv2 or Hub.

Next Tuesday ITV shows the PoBritain Awards. It'll be interesting to see how this compares to the flop zone and how it affects Holby and OL. I assume ITV will start making an effort now Xmas tv adverts are a few days from launching.
My thoughts exactly. Why don't they broadcast the pilot series, as you say, on ITV2 or The Hub as a directly digital experience

Well one rating loser to another like a double minus.

Some people think SyCo has a Devine right to rule TV and we must all watch like good kids.

Pity that more and more people have realised it's not good TV.

They don't "dislike" soaps, they don't get wall to wall coverage and appear on the cover every week (though they have had many covers) but they are always highlighted when something is interesting,
Yes there isn't wall to wall coverage, but they go from one extreme to another and offer no coverage at all, there is a paragraph on a Monday and a preview if it is deemed worth it, but I find it quite odd that the highest rating programmes on TV that cover many hours can't justify one double page spread.

OK, you knew it was coming... It's still going to rate higher than The Agenda. Actually, it probably will.
I did know it was coming, but you've gone down in my estimation that it came from you. I thought you were above turning an informative post into just an excuse for channel wars.

Overnights.tv ‏@overnightstv 8s9 seconds ago
#ordinarylies wont he 9pm slot for BBC1 with just under 4m/19.1%, lower than launch figure @RedProductionCo http://www.overnights.tv

Not a good rating there.
Seems low considering it had such weak competition, the new setting mustn't be as engaging as Jason Manford and his car showroom last time.

But they're already watching Question Time, why do they need to watch another one that's the same but not as good?
I wasn't aware viewers were only allowed one hour of politics a week? And not even on the same day?

Why do people watch Sunday Politics when it's the same as Marr on an hour previous but not as good?

BBC QT is increasingly a parody of itself these days in any case and should have some competition. There was also a Labour Party QT Special in prime time the other week which I remember you supporting and sticking up for, plus of course it rated well in any case despite the ongoing Labour Party leadership row boring a lot of people.
