Thanks for this.
Great to see BGT doing so superbly across all age groups!

I'm waiting on a few more but BGT and Bake Off show why they rate so highly, big numbers across several demos. If a programme can't do that then they need to do really well in one and well in several others, like Strictly.

Anyone get the feeling there will almost be a protest at the Channel 4 'version' of Bake Off and C4 will be well and truly humiliated in the launch ratings and onwards? I have this feeling people won't even tune in for curiosity, not on the night anyway, and said their goodbyes yesterday!

As it was mentioned around a week or two ago, last week's overnights for Pointless and The Chase, from Broadcast:

Pointless:
Monday - n/a (moved to BBC2 for Olympics parade, was below 2.12m)
Tuesday - 2.61m (20.79%)
Wednesday - 2.77m (21.16%)
Thursday - 2.54m (20.17%)
Friday - 2.50m (18.99%)
Average - 2.61m (20.28%)

The Chase:
Monday - 3.26m (26.27%)
Tuesday - 2.97m (24.77%)
Wednesday - 2.98m (23.87%)
Thursday - 2.98m (24.65%)
Friday - 3.25m (25.73%)
Average - 3.09m (25.06%)

A couple of episodes of Tipping Point made the top 100 too, Tuesday (2.18m/25.69%) and Wednesday (2.12m/24.82%).

Incredible. Absolutely incredible. Peak lower than I thought it would be but that average!”

Amazing! I predicted 13m

I do also. The first ep might rate decent, although nothing like BBC1 ratings, and the ratings will crash.

I wonder how The Voice will do on ITV also?

It could be the Chris Evans version of Top Gear all over again.

There definitely hasn't been such a backlash about The Voice. Mainly because it isn't as popular, but maybe because of the different circumstances?

ITV have also brought Tom Jones back, which has been a popular move.

I think ITV will let The Voice be 'the oldies' singing competition, and target X Factor at a younger demographic.

I do appreciate what people are saying about Bake Off collapsing on Channel 4 but I do have a feeling that it will be more resilient than we're giving it credit for. I'm not a huge devotee of the show but whenever I watch it, it's the contestants and the general formula that seem intrinsic to its success rather than Mel and Sue as the presenters or Mary as a judge. It's a different beast to something like Top Gear, where Clarkson, Hammond and May and the dynamics between them pretty much constituted the programme itself.

I get the feeling that no matter what Channel 4 do it won't be enough. I think the goodwill for it ends when it ends on BBC1 this Christmas. I won't be watching it on Channel 4....and I say that as somebody that didn't really bother with the Comic Relief versions/other versions as they didn't have the whole team in place.

It's the contestants but also the contestants interacting with the judges and presenters. Mel & Sue walking around joking with contestants. It would be like I'm A Celebrity without Ant & Dec linking the bits between clips or hosting the show in general.

And with a year gap and also the BBC releasing a new cookery competition, C4 is doomed before it starts, I think it will be around four million.

Even staying level with this year's series would be embarrassing considering how much they paid for it.

Everything that made Bake Off has gone.

Had Mary have left or retired, I think the show would have survived. The circumstances which caused the show to move has left a bad taste, which is why many viewers will abandon it.

The show hasn't moved - it's ended in my eyes.

What if it does better than X Factor?

(Some might say that's not particularly difficult )

The point above seems to be true from the people I've spoken to.

Some feel Channel 4 and Love Productions have ruined a show they love and won't follow it out of loyalty to the original and BBC.

I can't see it topping 10m consolidated, when this series didn't even manage 8. Can you?
