Should be some big numbers for BBC One tonight hopefully!
I reckon a 8m peak. Well done to the Leeds lads. Was a nail-biting finish too!

Somebody doesn't know their emojis very well do they? That's crying with laughter. Might want to get those specs tested.
Apologies again, it's just your posts are like a big fog. It's hard to see what's past the crap.

Wonderful viewing tonight, great to see us all doing so well, fantastic entertainment. A bit of jumping around to catch the action, but done very well.

Agreed, the diving was spectacular entertainment. Deserves a strong rating.

Haha, I've just seen the schedule for Sunday 21st August. It's not benefits related but I think it will get people talking! Mince pies at the ready.

Not ratings related I know but came across this site where actual CEEFAX pages broadcast in the past can be found by typing in the page number!

http://www.uniquecodeanddata.co.uk/t...bbc1-19881029/

Most of the pages are working - the above is from October 1988 and i guess it's a fancy alternative to that new fangled interweb and that genome nonsense.

Thought it might appeal to the nostalgic types on here

Heh. They did the same thing last year as well IIRC, although maybe not quite to that extent. Bizarre to say the least.

@BBCSport: A peak TV audience of 8.1 million watched @teamgb win gold in the diving on @BBCOne last night

Brilliant figure. Rightly so after the first diving gold ever.

The Government's new policy of "perform well and we'll fund you" seems to be working. After London 2012 the Sports Council withdrew a significant amount of funding for swimming and diving due to mediocre results. Each genre of sport is at risk of losing funding and if they perform well as specified by targets, funding will continue or increase. If they don't, then funding will be removed or decreased. Synchronised swimming has no GB team because they severely underperformed in London and receive no funding at all - one of the sacrifices of the swimming budget.

I guess the UK no longer accepts "it's the taking part that matters" line anymore. As a country we expect results and since Sydney we've actually done reasonably well or brilliant - only Athens let us down a little where we won 9 Gold medals instead of the 11 at Sydney.

So they can get gymnastics into peak viewing time 7-10 pm (and avoid an hour-long Emmerdale on ITV). There's then a repeat of Endeavour on ITV while BBC1 is showing Laura Trott in the women's cycling. There's no EE/Emmerdale clash next week.
