It'll start off well but I can't see 6m being interested in watching Take That TV for many weeks. But we need to see what it is up against.

McIntyre should be hosting a quiz show type of format. It's an old trope now but imagine him hosting GFI or StarsEyes or a GenGame type.
I really liked Michael McIntyre's Big Show, as it felt like an old fashioned variety show and was very funny. Reminded me of Tonight at the London Palladium, which I also really like. It feels like there isn't enough variety shows on TV, so when this came along it felt like a good change to what we usually see.

I could imagine him doing something like Generation Game as well, I'm glad they are using Michael on primetime Saturdays as I think he is a great talent.

BBC1 do well in January with pretty little effort. Lottery quizzes can get up to 5m, and MBB rpts the same.

This is especially likely if ITV are showing very little, or a young skewing show like Take Me Out.

I think Let It Shine will appeal to those viewers who watched the ALW shows.
Let It Shine would be a good alternative to Take Me Out if they clashed. I could see both shows benefiting from that.

The Celebrity Chase is seen as filler on here, but with the right panel it's hilarious.

Is the new series of 'Off Their Rockers' a celebrity version? I've just seen Louis Walsh in the trailer? (That's not even a witty comment )

Are people out trick or treating tonight as that would affect viewing figures do you think?
I doubt it being Sunday and kids going back to school tomorrow but you never know. I would have thought tomorrow would be worse.
Some Halloween stuff and it's also Diwalli so they'll be some hits there. So many fireworks going off.

I notice when criticising the line up it wasn't mentioned that one of the other celebs on The Chase tonight is Louise Minchin.

Of course the lines up on Pointless Celebrities may be poor, at least they aren't as obscure as those on Celebrity Mastermind, which I'm sure we'll have cluttering up the schedules again at Christmas.

XF costs ITV up to £25m per year.
XF gets £10m from TalkTalk.
If 10 hours of Bake Off on C4 can attract £30m in adverts, what are 30 odd episodes of XF that get 6-8m ratings for up to 2 hours make?
Oh and the phone votes.
Minus production and other costs.

Yeah, ITV needs to dump it. Someone tell the Saudis to shut down the oil wells too.
The advertisers pay less if the audience falls below certain thresholds.

It is written in their contracts.

Well, yes, and as I mentioned last week, my mum was sufficiently interested in the format and the host to plan to record it, but because it was in the middle of Strictly she forgot all about it, and there's no repeats. However, I see there is a repeat of This Time Next Year, even though all that's facing is Watchdog and it has a much cushier slot. That makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Well, I look forward to the nation rushing to its screens tonight to watch Matt Allwright vs Keith Allen on The Chase. I can't remember Pointless ever being Kylie vs Madonna, that one must have passed me by. It's almost as if people watch Pointless because of what the contestants say and do, rather than who they are. I am very excited to see people like Roger McGough on this series. And of course, if they did have more household names, you definitely wouldn't complain about them having "the same old celebrities", would you?

Meet The Parents DOES have a repeat - Saturday at 8pm on ITV+1.

And I won't have a word said against Pointless Celebrities. It's the greatest title for a television programme. EVER.

Maybe if you didn't just watch crappy old ITV, you'd KNOW the celebrities on Celebrity Mastermind.

And last Christmas most episodes of Celebrity Mastermind went up against Emmerdale. Shame on you for not watching for not supporting your favourite channel's Second Soap.

I love Celebrity Chase, but prefer the normal version. Trouble is, because it's on all the time, including weekend repeats, it's easy for the specials to get lost, especially as there is no promotion.

Perhaps ITV would be better in not trying to reinvent the dating show. Just bring back Blind Date and have Paul O'Grady as the host.
Hasn't Paul O'Grady made it pretty clear that he won't be doing that sort of show again?

Louise Minchin will do anything, she did Celebrity Masterchef this summer as well.

I think they've had some good guests on Pointless Celebrities, it's hard to fill 24 episodes of 8 players each with A grade celebs, but their news presenters one had Piers and Susannah which I thought was unusual of ITV to let them on a BBC show.

I knew 5 of the 8 on Saturday. Still a better ratio than Celeb Big Brother which is the lowest for celeb recognition.

The celebs were really Z list and obscure last night as they often are. A comedians special and the most famous was probably Rhona Cameron.
.
I know, right? Jeremy Hardy and Robert Webb. What have they ever done? [Yes, I'm being sarcastic! You probably won't get that!]

That made me chuckle, what a brilliant comment.

**
Ed Balls is keeping Strictly in the tabloids at the moment. I saw he was on the front page of one of the Sunday papers! With Strictly, are people voting for who they like or who is the best at dancing? I suspect it's the first option.
Well obviously it's the first. Just as they have every season since the beginning. It frankly amazes me that there's anybody left in the Universe so deluded as to think it is purely a dance competition!

What's Brian Downling up to these days?
He hosts a game show in Ireland.

Is Michael McIntyre's variety show due back this autumn? I thought somebody said it was. Is it likely to displace Who Dares Wins? Could it be going up against X Factor but with a Strictly lead-in. The lead-in might help it to a decent rating, perhaps close to, or even above a 5m overnight.

McIntyre v X Factor could be an interesting battle, if it occurs.
It was shown April/May. I very much doubt that it will be seen again before that (if at all).

Are you suggesting most of the celebs are those that are on the BBC payroll?
I thought that only happened on ITV, allegedly.

I think what he's saying is that you don't see the kind of talented, smart celebrities they have on BBC quiz programmes slumming it on ITV, isn't he? Seems like a fair enough assessment to me!

That's a bit of a crap argument. If the celebrity really cared about the charity, they would go and win 20k on The Chase, not a meagre £500 on Pointless.

I suspect it's more the case that the celebrities on the BBC quizzes aren't being offered the ITV ones...

Humans rating might be affected, being pushed back due to the aftermath of a very dramatic F1 race.

What time did it start? It's still showing as 9pm on my Sky EPG.

I thought this spat was about celebrity Mastermind? Prize money doesn't come into it.

I will watch it later on in the week, like a large chunk of drama viewers seem to do these days.

And I won't watch it at all because the previews suggest that it's ceased to be anything other than preposterous but mostly because it's on bloody Channel 4 for whom my contempt knows no bounds at the moment!

The BBC are as inbred with their own celebs as ITV are with theirs.

How good did Humans do for C4 last year, I believe it was a big hit? I only watched the first series last month and can't wait to catch up on tonight's.

Do you not think it's worth, erm, taking a little step back perhaps?
