Very odd as they haven't bothered about shoving other equally important events to BBC2 during EastEnders. They haven't even moved it by an hour here or there so far

Stunning ratings for the Olympics, really good to see it so high after so many questioned whether interest would hold up after London

BBC2 picking up some high shares for their half hours

The Americans are a bit up in arms over the new Star Trek heading for the pay TV channel being launched with it. It will still be shown with 12 minutes of ads despite needing a sub to view. Also rumoured that each episode will only be 'up' for 7 days to stop people waiting until all 13 have aired, subscribing, watching them all then quickly cancelling.

At least in the UK it will be on Netflix so none of this hassle.

Details of the series from Bryan Fuller include it is set ten years before the original Star Trek in the prime universe and so a sort of Star Trek Enterprise the next generation.

Kirk at that point would be a teenager but they are planning to establish their 2016 Star Trek TV look and the new characters in series 1 before possibly bringing in established Star Trek characters in series 2.

Will include starships and captains but told from the perspective of a female lead who will not be the ships captain. An openly gay actor will play an openly gay character and the show - not being bound by basic TV limitations - will be what sounds like one of his other shows (Hannibal) like in its attitude to sex, language and violence.

There will be more aliens than in past Star Trek crews and the ship's doctor will be British.

Most of the pages are working - the above is from October 1988 and i guess it's a fancy alternative to that new fangled interweb and that genome nonsense.

Thought it might appeal to the nostalgic types on here

Great find! Dave Lee Travis is on, on P174 - should it be removed for sensitivity?

Not sure if this has been mentioned but according to Geek Town, Victoria is launching Sunday 28th August. Assume it's 9pm and will have an X-Factor lead-in.

But - a bank holiday weekend launch seems like a risky move to me. Is it to get the jump on Poldark? Personally, I think they should hold off a week for XF and Victoria and launch both on the following weekend.

I think ITV want the jump on Poldark. But the BBC were clever in announcing Poldarks return date early because they know ITV will either have to start on the Bank Holiday weekend or opposie Poldark. Both are a disadvantage to Victoria.

I do hope we get to see a breakdown of tonight's BBC One audience from 11pm - 11:30pm.

Seems like ages ago when we predicted Poldark would move to Autumn.

Bank Holiday weekend isn't always bad for a programme. Maigret did well on one of them. Victoria gets a week's start on Poldark so should get a big sample audience. I think lots of people will watch Victoria on ITV+1 as it'll be easier.

ITV make Victoria and bought Mammoth Screen which makes Poldark. They can't lose!

Will the BBC sitcom season start on Bank Holiday weekend? That's another thing I'm curious about.

I wonder what the BBC have lined up for the Bank Holiday Sunday? If Fake or Fortune is back, that will air at 8pm, so a weak alternative to X Factor. But the 9pm slot will be interesting as it's just one week before Poldark starts. I wonder if there's a two parter for the Sunday and Bank Holiday in the pipeline?

They have a movie premiere penciled in for Bank Holiday weekend, possibly the Monday. Thor: The Dark World.

And according to this the Sitcom Season starts on Sunday 28th August.

Sunday Sitcom Season. Then it cannot fail to achieve a figure above 5m.

I think if ITV trail Sunday the 28th as Super Sunday. New 7pm show, TXF returns and new landmark period drama Victoria, then they could do well - at least Victoria could launch with a whopping consolidated figure from recordings.

The 1st ep of Victoria will have to hook viewers immediately like DA, otherwise the following Sunday Poldark with take many viewers away. I think Ep1 of Victoria is 90mins.

Isn't this all a bit out of date now. Folks can easily watch both and will if they are good enough. ITV+1 if folks don't have recording equipment. Others either record or download.

Great rating for the evening Olympics on BBC4. 1.46m has to be the channel's highest overnight rating. Also a good rating for The Olympics post 10.30pm on BBC1.

Excellent news. I know many compare it unfavourably to the PDC championship but it's always been a New Year staple of mine and I'm glad it's airing on a free-to-air channel in some form.

Sad to see another staple of the BBC Sport empire crash and burn. I know it's only the darts but still.

There will literally be nothing left before much longer. Just Five Live and a website.
