I've been up and down that list several times and I can only see ONE ITV sitcom on it - Love Thy Neighbour. And it's very hard for ANYONE to argue that that was quality fare.

7pm was always more game show than quiz though. "Play Your Cards Right", "Wheel of Fortune", "Sale of the Century" and of course "Family Fortunes" all did very well in 7pm weeknight slots.

Shows of this type aren't prohibitively expensive to produce and whilst it is sadly unrealistic to expect ITV to ditch a couple of episodes of Emmerdale to put a few back at 7, I suspect a couple of these brought back with the right presenter could do some damage to EastEnders in the 7.30 or 8.00 slots.

It's a bit of a shame that Channel 5 hasn't developed into more of a direct rival to BBC1 and ITV as that perhaps could have resulted in more variety in early evenings by challenging the status quo.

The biggest problem was increasing Emmerdale and taking away those 7pm weeknight slots for quizzes. Family Fortunes was getting 15m on Fridays, Telly Addicts would beat Emmerdale some weeks at 7pm. We get half hour quizzes padded out to an hour these days.

Game Shows seem out of favour in this era where people are more selective at what they watch, hence why almost all game shows are actually quiz shows. People turn their nose up at bright and breezy and somewhat tacky game shows these days as many people are wannabe TV snobs.

Its a shame itv couldn't cut back on an episode of emmerdale and put a gamrshow in its place. I used to watch them growing up.

Can you imagine if itv did actually put up something likr that up agaisnt eastenders and it did actually damage it, even just a few hundred thousand I bet ee hardcore fans eould kick up s big fuss over it

To be fair Andy there's virtually no suitable slot to put these shows in any more. Early evening is strangled with soaps and weekend prime time is wrapped up by hours of SCD and XF.

The other problem is that the game shows that are on are either celebrity specials only, elongated beyond their original length or a combination of the 2.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if a 30 minute series of "civilian" Family Fortunes was scheduled in the early evening. It might do better than you think.

This time next year was an interesting format. Good job Davina looks the same now as she did 12 months ago. They'll have to decide if there is going to be a second series quickly, as its got more than a 12 month lead time.

Maybe Kevin Lygo will surprise us when his new schedule takes shape. Maybe he'll come up with some off-the-wall scheduling for his six hours of soap, freeing up some slots for game shows.

Seems to have gone down very well on Twitter, although no thread on here. It's a neat idea and it was warm, uplifting TV. It seems the sort of thing that could get a decent audience. Perhaps it would be better suited to Sunday but Sundays are tough right now whereas the Wednesday slot is fairly cushy so it makes sense. I guess it'll get around 3.5m.

If it does do well I guess it'll be early 2018 before a second series hits screens, unless they get filming very quickly! Although it could return to the Autumn after that (if they were prepared to order a third run before the second aired).

Surely ITV would have had to take the risk and commission 2 series of this from the off because they would know from the format that if they wait to see how series one did, they have a big gap before series 2.

Certainly sounds like a fresh idea in an TV age where fresh ideas are hard to come by (due to the amount of television there has been up to this point). But how much appeal will it have? My mum watches and enjoys Long Lost Family and Surprise Surprise, but she wasn't interested in watching This Time Next Year.

Does anyone know if this is an ITV original format? Or have they imported the idea from abroad?

Not sure many are really rumours though, just a list of anyone who is at a loose end. As if Sam Allardyce would do it, or Nigel Farage for that matter, or Eammon Holmes.

Apparently it's an ITV Studios format, that has already been sold to Germany, Denmark and Australia.

Jesus it's like everybody is of the same mind as me. I totally concur with the above posts about gameshows. Many should be 30mins long and not so called all-star shows.

FF is the best example of this. Catchphrase has come back well and I can live with 45 mins. Price is Right was actually better at an hour under Crowther and 321 worked well as a long show. WoF, Jeopardy, Take Your Pick, Win Lose or Draw, Bullseye and Sale of the Century could all slot in at 3pm or 7:30 or 8.

I believe PiR was going to come back under Vernon Kay but offcom said it wasn't skillful enough. Ridiculous even excluding Deal or no Deal. Get the right host and you're away. You won't get 6m but you might get 4m. Hopefully Blankety Blank will help revive shows.

This applies to BBC1 too which can be revived even without Sir Bob hosting. And of course they don't all have to be old shows, you do want new too. I remember Noel saying how snobby people were about Telly Adicts but if they had been books or films or music....

The crazy thing is ITV needs a Bullseye leading off on Sundays and that could hurt Countryfile. 321 could be a good variety show with someone like Jason Manford hosting and doing the opening act. Toss in a chart music act, a magician, a dance act and a veteran pop act (Cliff!) and you've got lots of demos hit. People said variety wouldn't rate but Cowell disagreed.

These shows even syndicate well as Challenge TV proves.

I wanted to hate it but found myself quite enjoying it. It's cheesy AF but Davina is so good at this sort of show that it works. I wouldn't watch it if it was Holly or Mulhern. I think it'll do reasonably well though can see the format wearing thin after a while.

I'd also like to see more game shows back on ITV, and definitely only 30 minutes! I don't like the 60 minute ones, it's just too long.

Jason Manford has had two formats on ITV. They were both flops. He was a figure of fun to hate at round here a year or two ago.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like all these old game shows coming back, but I can't see them rating. If it isn't just questions its sneered at.

The dying days of Play your Cards Right weren't great. It looked quite old fashioned in the Pop Idol/Big Brother/Millionaire/Weakest Link era, which resulted in ITV moving it to 5:30pm and Brucie getting narked off.

And the slots aren't the issue, SCD and TXF is dominating now, but that's only the autumn season.

So that suggests they might have filmed series 1 and 2 first parts last September, and will be continuing to film series 2 part 2 now.

I suppose it depended on how many applicants they got.

This second series hasn't grabbed me like the first one did, so I'm not surprised it is rating poorly.
