Oh FFS. He's going to ruin Emmerdale.

Are TV bosses blind or just desperate? How can anyone not put Corrie's ratings drop and Blackburn together?

I just cannot fathom what ITV class as Corrie being poor?

I'm not happy about this either. Crazy decision. ITV need to seriously wake up and look what a mess he made of Corrie. Emmerdale is in an extremely strong position right now and they don't need him to come along and F*** everything up.

According to Radio Times website, I'm A Celebrity opener is running 9.00-10.45pm. I believe that's 5-mins shorter than last year. Although IIRC, last year the opener ran over by 5-mins and didn't actually finish until 10.55pm.

Last year the opener averaged 9.8m (inc +1). I wonder how it'll do this year. I would be nice to see it top 10m.

He says it is unconfirmed but his source is pretty reliable. We'll probably find out next Monday to see the confirmed rating.

And a few daytime ratings from yesterday:
Judge Rinder - 1.02m (17.5%)
The Moonstone - 773k (13.4%)
Rebound - 845k (13.4%)
Tipping Point - 2.34m (25.7%)
The Chase - 3.41m (25.1%)
Pointless - 3.04m (21.2%)

I think the ITV shows include +1. Excellent for The Chase and Tipping Point. I much prefer The Chase to Pointless myself, more enjoyable.”

I don't see the point in having such a late finish yet having no show on the Saturday.
Not having some sort of show on Saturday baffles me.

Don't forget the shambles he made at Emmerdale too. What on earth has possessed them to do this?

The Moonstone - I tried ep 1, but got bored. Seems to be so did most viewers. Nrmally these dramas in the 2.15pm slot on BBC1 are in the 1.2m-1.5m region.

Fantastic for Bake-Off. Up 1.9m on the overnight. I don't get why nearly 2m recorded it. Why has the final jumped to nearly 16m?”

It's a shame about The Moonstone. It really got going with episode 2.

And remember when I said Tipping Point and The Chase should always stay together and Andy23 said otherwise? I love being right!

Bar staff. Supermarket staff. Shift workers. Maybe kids who have to go to bed at 8 o'clock.

Evening clubs and societies and sporting events that won't cancel just because the Bake Off final is on. And that includes League Cup football matches one of which, Manchester United verses Manchester City was on the TV at the same time as the baking.

It's funny that I don't think The Chase works with celebrities but is perfect with members of the public. I find Pointless Celebrities more enjoyable than The Chase or Tipping Point celeb specials. Pointless Celebrities just seems to work better.

Really? That's the notable omission? Suffice it to say that I saw not a single episode of 14 of the 17 on offer and I don't feel I've missed out in any way at all. Critics? Pah! What do they know? (And for once not a grain of irony there!)

Launching on the Sunday gives IAC its biggest audience.

What would be the point in launching on Saturday after TXF, starting at 9.50pm only to finish at 10.50pm like the Sunday.

Sunday has more viewers around. When the IAC final is on a Sunday it gains almost 2m extra viewers from a Saturday final.

I think ITV would get more viewers if they teased which celebs are going in via TV trails. As long as they have some strong names, this should surely create a buzz.

I'd like to see it back over 10m (depending on the cast), but its got to work harder each year as TXF declines, its lead in support becomes less effective.

So you didn't watch 14 of the 17? Did you see the other 3 then? First series of True Detective is better than the second. Surprised Downton or Sherlock were there considering all of the critics awards they won plus Downton making the Guinness Book If Records one year for being the best reviewed programme of the year.

I was thinking of more of a review of 2015 and preview of 2016 than the actual launch show. Something that whets the appetite but still gets a solid audience. Maybe they already do that on itv2 but it seems a waste considering Ross only pulls in 2.5m.

Thinking about it I accept it probably doesn't alter the Sunday show much if at all.

On a different topic, Mary has a new cooking show on BBC1...

Just looking back at last years Christmas Day numbers, and I think, to do well on Xmas Day now, schedules need to be fun and light. Something warm and cosy to sit down and watch. Let's not forget Stick Man in the early evening almost topped the day with 6.3m viewers. I think that tells us all we need to know about what viewers want on the main day.

For this reason I think ITV should keep drama (bar soaps) off the main day. You can't really concentrate properly on a drama while you have family round.

I thought he was in the Emmerdale writing team prior to becoming a producer.

Last years launch rating was lower than recent years, the number I've predicted is more in line with the 2014 launch. I could be wrong, just giving my opinion

Or drunk! . I always struggled why BBC put Call The Midwife on Christmas Day as it has made quite heavy viewing especially given the early time it airs.
