I'm sorry, but I find all this a bit unpleasant. These posts seem to be suggesting that someone should be fired and never work in television again, which is personalising things to a ridiculous degree. Stuart Blackburn has a career, a family and a life and suggesting he shouldn't be offered jobs and people are stupid to hire him is totally unfair. You don't know the man at all.
You're basing this on the perception he was personally responsible for all that was bad about Coronation Street. A lot of the time he was probably told what to do anyway. There are many layers of executives and managers above the producer of a soap, and they can overrule and meddle with all his decisions. And the producer can only work with the team and the budget they have anyway. It's a ridiculous argument.
Maybe he wasn't the best producer Corrie has ever had, but also then to take issue with him being hired as a writer is ridiculous. Maybe he's a really good writer who struggled with some of the roles of being a producer. Let alone the fact that his scripts will be overseen by a script editor, Emmerdale's own producer and the management there as well. How can a producer be singlehandedly reponsible for all that's bad about Corrie, and then in a different role "ruin" Emmerdale all by themselves as well.
Imagine Stuart Blackburn reading some of that stuff. People who've never met or worked with him slagging off his professionalism and suggesting he should never work again. What a horrible attitude. It's embarrassing to read.
