I am,

The pictures look fantastic, I saw some on Graham Norton, top quality television, with high production standards. Something Attenborough does so well.

Oh hi there Dan, how are you today?

I thought we'd established I'm not one of your enemies but I guess anyone who says anything you don't agree with or want to hear is.

I noticed that applications to be a X Factor contestant for 2017 closes at 23:59 on the 1st July, I don't remember applications closing this late so are we looking at the start date for X Factor 2017 being later?

I think they should swap it around and give The Voice the Autumn slot in 2017.

Problem is they are running out of quality contestants now, and have to use talent scouts, where most of the contestants now come from.

Nope. Just pointing out personal preference influencing predictions.

Great show for X Factor tonight. I'm predicting 6m and 10m for SCD

What, so it can drop to sub-3m against Strictly? Actually, that'd be good!

Brendan O'Carroll understands that. Although Agnes Brown is an OTT character, the way she is written and acted is wholly relateable. Citizen Khan is trying too hard to be Frank Spencer, but without the charm and persona.

For me, just acting stupid for laughs is not funny. There has to be a reason for laughing. If I wanted to see buffoonery I would go to a circus.”

There have been plenty of very successful comedies where the audience laugh at the central character, not with them - Fawlty Towers, Rising Damp, I'm Alan Partridge, Keeping Up Appearances, Till Death Us Do Part.

The problem with Citizen Khan is that it looks like a Goodness Gracious Me sketch that spoofs 70s sitcoms.

TVUK will hold up better.

Strictly is very strong yes, but also the XF is very weak. IMHO TVUK is more relevant to younger people and would hold up for far better.

TVUK coaches can sing, and it is about The Voice, not joke acts.

I enjoyed XF tonight too. Good show. At this stage the competition is quite open... even though the acts aren't that strong on the whole, it still flowed nicely and was a good watch.

Next year they should keep the same panel, refresh the middle stages and keep the show fun like it has been for (most) of this series. It's how the show should be again in essence but the final 12 is a bit lacklustre this year, no matter, next year can be better!

Why would a show that rates millions fewer than XF hold up better?

Actually I don't even know why I'm taking your bait.

Strictly was also excellent tonight.

No bait, - truth, TVUK would hold up far better, the XF has been failing on its own accord, and can't blame the strong SCD. Move The Voice to September in 2017 and it will rate better than XF. Yes SCD will beat it, but it will hold up better.

For Planet Earth 2 to beat X Factor in overnight ratings, it will have to bring in extra viewers to that Antiques Roadshow slot rather than take a load of viewers from X Factor. I have no predictions. I'll just wait for the ratings to come in.

I think it's a clever and bold move to put PE2 on at 8 pm.
- Avoids I am a celebrity.
- Let's school kids watch.
- Call the midwife gets excellent ratings in that slot.
- XF is now very weak on its last legs.

With Michael McInterie on the 17th, these are bold schedule moves.

Well Planet Earth 2 is arguably going to hit its highest overnight with its first episode buoyed up by hype and curiosity. The HD element should be high, this type of tv is made for it.

Anyone remember the ballpark ratings the first series achieved? Iv got this idea it was approaching 10 million consolidated but I may be totally wide of the mark.

Well I've not been sleeping well, what's your excuse? 13% (which I did know, pardon the brain fart on the conveying of the information) is hardly a flop.

And a very strong lead in from SCD results, I can see BBC1 going straight into PE2 from SCD without trailers and maybe at 7.58.

P'ing off any non-Strictly fans who will join at 8.00 and those on timer recording all around the country? What would be the point of that exactly?

That's how I feel about Citizen Khan too. Also I can't think of any Citizen Khan moments that have made me laugh out loud. This is a programme that has reached 5 series while being wholly unremarkable in terms of comedy and ratings. It's on against Corrie because it has failed in other timeslots.

Both shows were OK; perfectly passable entertainment though nothing at all memorable at all. BGT is the only Saturday ents show 'bringing it' at this point.

Oh classic ADP.
Of course a show which can't even muster 8m consolidated in January is going to do better than a show which does it in Sept/Oct against SCD and many more .
It woudlnt' hold up superior to XF, c'mon, gimme a break over here. If it rates worse than XF against NW, I'd say it going sub-4m against SCD ain't all that far into space.
And FYI, XF gets far more young viewers than The Voice did this year. The Voice was not a hit with the young than a hit tbh, in factual fact, speaking the truth. XF draws young chippers, just look at the skews/shares etc!
