The TV event of this year! A televisual spectacular.

I see those commenting on the declining quality of the X Factor guests haven't exactly leaped forward to mention Robbie Williams and Emile Sande performing tonight...

Clearly they can still get the bookings.
Because, as rubbish as TXF is, there's no real alternative for a big act to promote themselves on that scale.

SCD Results ended early as predicted at 19.55, but trailers inbetween. Clauidia promoted Planet Earth at the end of SCD.
If somebody fell asleep at the end of Strictly and woke up when the sloth was on at the start of Planet Earth, they might have thought they were still watching Claudia on Strictly.

SCD doesn't do as well on a Sunday and doesn't fill the hour.
TP is close to Pointless on weekdays but loses by a lot on Saturdays.
Tipping Point doesn't get a pre-SCD slot and inflated boost.

Robbie Williams probably paid them to get on. He's way past his sell-by date. Emili Sande is yet to have a number one solo and has an album coming out in a few days time so again hardly a difficult booking. I wouldn't cross the street to listen to either of them.
Let's not bother having them on then if you don't like them...

Still two of the biggest artists around at the moment.

The Crown is getting tremendous AIs on Twitter. Many have already watched all ten episodes!!

Shame we don't get any viewing figures.
With a £100m budget you'd hope so!

You means these are only appearing because they have something to plug? How awful.

Cylon posted earlier that Pointless started with over 4m and grew quickly.

Correct. Pointless was already at 4m half an hour before Strictly started. Tipping Point isn't as popular as Pointless. Now The Chase v Pointless is another story.

BBC News is on before Pointless, which is default viewing fr those older viewers who watch SCD.

BBC News at 5.30pm is often 3.5m+, so Pointless has a good starting audience to grow from.

I could see over 8m for Planet Earth tonight to be honest. I'm gonna guess

Planet Earth - 8.1m
The X Factor - 5.6m
I think you've gone too high for Planet Earth 2 and too low for X Factor James. But I'm just guessing like you.

Actually Adele was no 1 biggest worldwide album seller of the year up to early October (I don't have any figures beyond that) leading Bieber, Bowie, Coldplay and Drake in that order. Little Mix was 9th.

Yes they have her chained behind those doors on the stage and only let her out occasionally.

Predictions for tonight:

X Factor: 6.3m
Planet Earth: 6.9m

True and this situation that the BBC enjoys has taken years to get to. ITV has chased younger viewers and driven millions away by stuffing their weekdays with soaps.

Lygo decides to show similar dramas on consecutive nights and chops the legs off new LE formats. Oh and he wants more Corrie.

Hardly surprising BBC1 is the default option for millions.

She's still the biggest in the world, last album has sold over 10 million is US alone. Which X factor winner has achieved that?

It's fairly clear I was talking about the UK, but I guess I should have seen your spin coming.
