I have a feeling next Sunday will be huge.

Predictions:

BBC1:
Strictly- 9.7m
Planet Earth- 9.0m

ITV:
X Factor- 7.0m
I'm a Celebrity- 9.3m

I think X Factor will be helped a little by being on before IAC.

Amazing overnight for Planet Earth II. Should easily pass all Series 1 totals. It's also looking very likely that (with timeshift) it could become the highest single rated episode ever for a BBC NHU programme. Previous BARB high was 12.1m for The Blue Planet (2001) but that included a 2m rated Sunday repeat.

Previous Planet Earth consolidated ratings (March/Nov 2006):

Ep 1 - 9.41m Ep 6 - 6.37m**
Ep 2 - 8.57m Ep 7 - 6.72m
Ep 3 - 8.83m Ep 8 - 7.04m*
Ep 4 - 8.98m Ep 9 - 7.32m*
Ep 5 - 9.23m Ep 10 - 7.42m*

*against IAC
**against 10m A touch of Frost

Frozen Planet consolidated ratings (November 2011):

Ep 1 - 8.81m
Ep 2 - 9.73m
Ep 3 - 8.85m
Ep 4 - 7.27m*
Ep 5 - 8.29m*
Ep 6 - 6.65m*
Ep 7 - 8.07m

* against IAC

The Blue Planet consolidated ratings (September 2001):

Ep 1 - 12.01m* Ep 5 - 9.75m
Ep 2 - 11.51m* Ep 6 - 9.80m
Ep 3 - 10.98m* Ep 7 - 10.35m
Ep 4 - 12.10m* Ep 8 - 9.97m

*includes Sunday repeat

Tat finished with a similar rating to last week. Let's face it, many on here (including me) thought it would launch with 3-.3.5m, so its done it better than first thought.

But overall, ITV night pales in comparison to BBC1. The BBC can just put together a schedule so well, and is helped when they have strong shows already in the schedule to support the new programming.

ITV's Autumn looked strong, but the BBC has again, taken the mat from underneath ITV's feet, and it seems the BBC has had another good Autumn and I suspect, will have another good Winter and Christmas.”

Tut held its rating so I was wrong earlier there. Clearly 4m people liked it and I'm sure it'll make money abroad.
Magician matched Chase which is a fine achievement. Twitrer is very unrepresentative on the GB public but it went down very well. Rockers continues to do okay and is certainly stronger than YBF.

I'm not convinced BBC has quite won the autumn. Yes its bankers came good but they were not new shows. ITV has gained two new dramas and Magician and TTNY probably are returning too. Next weekend is a huge test for itv as XF needs to grow on Saturday and IAC will be expecting 8m.

Last night was a good night for British TV. Lots of variety (dance, wildlife, country issues, costume drama, magic, song and gotcha tv) pleasing 25m people. Both channels should be happy.

Good god! That is a stunning rating! I know people will say it had a big lead in, etc but that is a brilliant rating. May well timeshift to over 11m!

10.2m for #Strictly last night, followed by an incredible 9.2m for #planetearth2 . #XFactor held up well with 6.5m.”

Utterly stunning for BBC PEII. I thought I was being over optimistic in predicting 8 million, but 9.2! Wow! Well done to BBC Strictly too. Fab-u-lous!!

Wow at last nights Planet Earth ratings being closer to the Blue Planet ratings from 15 years ago out of the other similar shows!

ITV have axed Brief Encounters. Slightly surprised as it seemed to be received really well and the numbers were decent, if unspectacular. Another victim of the new leadership team I guess, along with Home Fires.

I suspect certain members on here would hope not, because they just want the BBC to succeed.

All that promotion, and doing quite well in the ratings, and they axe it! Really don't understand. Same with Home Fires.

The BBC have dominated this Autumn. Even if the BBC have new shows which flop, they have the reliable rating bankers to fall back on, so they don't look quite so bad.

ITV don't have that luxury (their own making), and generally the entire night can do poorly, or one show down YOY surrounded by flops.

Why?? It did well for Summer, and only dropped in ep6 because its was dented by something on BBC1 - can't remember what.

Does that mean Summer will be drama free again, or filled will lower rating factual.

Really stupid decision. What a way to piss off viewers.

Lygo is like one of those new football managers who has to sell all of his good players so he can bring in his own players.

Those two shows need to be replaced by a show involving a cop with a dark past who has to face their demons whilst solving a murder in a sleepy town...

Axing Brief Encounters is as mad as axing Home Fires, It's been promoted so much for the repeats on ITV Encore I thought series 2 was certain.

From BBC 1 I want a new great LE show though the autumn isn't the time to give us that. ITV needed new dramas more than BBC and has made some progress. The bankers have come home big style for BBC but my concern is that what replaces PE2 and GBBO next year? The BBC mustn't do what itv did and rely on certain shows too much.

In a way the real interesting TV comes in January. For both sides.
