That's not the most inspiring IAC line-up as I can't see who is supposed to be a crazy one who'll create the waves. Maybe they are still to go. We shall see.
Personally I think this series will be a vintage year. As long as they keep the trails as good as last year, it should be a good strong series. I hope the final is on the Sunday this year though. |

I said this in the other place.
Makes you think that channels like to get a solid regular 5/6m in a slot, but if they cast the net wider for programmes they might get bigger rating programmes more often. Instead of a solid rating for Antiques Roadshow, BBC1 got a huge rating for Planet Earth 2 at 8pm. And X Factor wasn't troubled! Now that's choice. Funny to think that a few years back the idea of putting something like Planet Earth opposite X Factor would be considered mad, due to X Factor's popularity. I'm sure somebody will come along and say where will they get the money from? That's not our problem it's theirs. Let them work it out. Not all big hits have big budgets. |

Just looking at the latest BARB update.
The Flash returned for it's third season on Sky1 with 1.43m - up marginally from the season 2 premiere of 1.41m. It does very well for Sky1 and it's actually a really brilliant show. Meanwhile the fifth season of Arrow started with just 844k - a big drop from last years 1.11m. Supergirl's second season started with 758k - again down hugely from last years 1.61m. All figures exclude +1 |

Decent finish for Poldark. If I was in charge at BBC1 I would certainly take the opportunity to move series 3 back into a spring slot. However, I would hope BBC1 would have something decent to fill the empty slot next Autumn.
What was strange is that last nights series finale was immediately followed by what basically amounted to a short trailer for S3. I can't remember another drama where I've seen that - for an upcoming Christmas special, sure, but not for the next series which could be a whole year away! So they're obviously some way through filming already, and presumably will have the option to make it to air late Spring next year should they so choose. |

It'll be interesting to see what they decide.

Since DA was first announced as being the last seres, I suspect the BBC had their eye on that slot for Poldark to take over. |

All figures exclude +1 Flash is the best show on TV and I'd expect it to beat the others. Arrow (and Agents of Shield) got silly last season and have work to do. Supergirl was surprisingly fun and Legends of Tomorrow was okay. I'd expect Flash to be the big show with Supergirl around 70%, Arrow 65% and LoT 55%. The fact that I've still got two episodes of Flash to watch from S2 illustrates how that is the nicest bit of the meal I've saved for last. LoT was more the Brussels sprouts and carrots. |

Last week's Humans consolidated to 3.4m.
That's a bit down from last year, which was generally around 4.1m on C4 and C4+1 after 7 days, with another 1m or so after 28 days, for a total of 5.1m per episode. The final episode dipped to 4.8m though. |

What is noticable about this line-up is that there are no reality type trash. TOWIE, Geordie Shore and MIC.
Unless any of them turn up as late arrivals, seems the rumours are true in regard to them excluding the above. Decent line up. Characters will develop as the show goes on. Some good shower totty as well ![]() I hope someone tells Ola that her husbands a bit of a dick

SCD 10m Planet Earth 8.8m X Factor 6.8m I'm a Celebrity 10.5m This Sunday reminds me of Super Sunday in November 2009 when Top Gear, I'm A Celebrity, X Factor and the countdown to Tennant's Doctor Who exit continued in The Water Of Mars. Top Gear was at 9pm and Doctor Who at 7pm to avoid X Factor. The days when X Factor didn't need a lead-in, All Star Family Fortunes could beat Countryfile and 9m for Doctor Who was considered disappointing by some fans. Sunday 15th November 2009 1 …. 14.3 (47.9%) …. The X Factor (20:00) ITV 2 …. 9.8 (36.1%) …. I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! (21:00) ITV 3 …. 9.1 (33.9%) …. Doctor Who (19:00) BBC1 4 …. 6.1 (22.4%) …. All Star Family Fortunes (19:15) ITV 5 …. 5.8 (19.5%) …. Antiques Roadshow (20:00) BBC1 6 …. 5.7 (26.0%) …. Countryfile (18:00) BBC1 7 …. 5.5 (19.1%) …. And the BBC can't create new hits. Neither channel can. TBF the Voice was a hit for a while but, rather like Strictly, the winners were quickly forgotten. It's pathetic how badly Voice winners have done. Years after appearing on the show XF still has the top 2 of the singles chart and number 1 in the LPs chart.
BIB 2: Strictly isn't purporting to be making stars out of its winners so viewers forgetting them isn't really a problem. I think when shows have been on as long as XF/SCD it's normal not to be able to recall who won every series quickly/off hand. Quote:
Big Brother and Deal or No Deal are two prime examples of shows that were huge for their network but fell much faster and harder than X Factor. American Idol fell faster in the US too.
Also the first series of The Voice UK had the same trajectory that XF has had over the past 6 years across 6 weeks! |

Sunday at 7:15pm is a traditional slot for the show. It sits there better than Saturdays. Bullseye at 6:30 and a non celebrity FF at 7:15pm could do well today. |

BIB 1: They did alright with Bake Off and yes I know it is made by an indie but the BBC/Charlotte Moore did have input into the format as mentioned in a few interviews over the years and backed up by S1 being a lot different to later series. They also allowed it to time to grow which is essentially 'creating a hit'. Channel 4 or ITV would've probably ditched it after the first series.
BIB 2: Strictly isn't purporting to be making stars out of its winners so viewers forgetting them isn't really a problem. I think when shows have been on as long as XF/SCD it's normal not to be able to recall who won every series quickly/off hand. GBBO will be joining this list next year. Some shows are so badly received that they are hard to bring back. Both channels have has them on Saturday in rexent times. |

It's a show about Take That. I can see it sliding but we need to see what it is up against. You think XF will be doing 'good' if it tops 8m so I assume you think this show will top 6m at least. I doubt it as I don't believe the public care enough for TT or Barlow.

It's pathetic how badly Voice winners have done. Years after appearing on the show XF still has the top 2 of the singles chart and number 1 in the LPs chart. The Voice hasn't found stars in America either but the ratings are great. That's what you want for a TV show. Strictly winners aren't about being remembered just like I'm A Celebrity. That's not their job. Celebs are interchangeable, it's the show people talk about and moments remembered. Like Russell Grant flying out of a cannon, John Sergeant and Anne Widdecombe's dancing on Strictly or Gillian Mckeith's meltdown or a bush tucker trial on I'm A Celebrity. |

It's done really well this series, and I assume that excludes the Saturday repeat which is the one I always watch.
I think they should do a Christmas special, if they don't already? |

I enjoyed Rich Hall's Presidential Grudge Match on BBC4 and I suspect they will be more than happy with 0.66m (3.4%)

The X Factor was always about finding music acts and making Syco money and it's about ratings for ITV. Their biggest act didn't even win it and that's One Direction. Not every winner has had big success with some being quietly dropped from their record label after poor sales. It used to be that the Christmas number 1 was guaranteed for the winner along with huge sales. That has been hit and miss over the years too since its peak period.
The Voice hasn't found stars in America either but the ratings are great. That's what you want for a TV show.f Strictly winners aren't about being remembered just like I'm A Celebrity. My point re SCD was more that IAC did revive some careers like Peter Andre whereas it doesn't seem to do that for their contestants. Again, maybe that's the era we are now in as Dixon did well from it and Gough certainly has. I suspect the public just done with this sort of thing now. The shows are now more for the moment but aren't likely to create a new Jade or Nasty Nick. |

Extreme Railway Journey's looks to have risen from last week. EastEnders rating looks healthier, but the share looks a biy weak. We'll see how the ITV soaps did. In regard to Corrie, the upcoming return of the Barlows looks o give Corrie a much needed boost of life and interest. That and the return of Toyah at Christmas. I'm finally starting to look forward to Corrie late November onwards. |

That's higher than I expect for IAC. I'm thinking 8.8m. Doctor Who over 9m means its ratings have halved like XF sadly.
Roadshow and Countryfile still right around fhe 5.5m mark. How itv must wish it had a show getting over 6m like FF. Sunday at 7:15pm is a traditional slot for the show. It sits there better than Saturdays. Bullseye at 6:30 and a non celebrity FF at 7:15pm could do well today. Doctor Who was a big deal back then. 13m for Christmas specials in 2007 & 2008. The David Tennant/Catherine Tate series was massive. Matt Smith's ratings were good as well 10m for his debut, 12m for A Christmas Carol. Doctor Who's sporadic appearances hurt it along with Capaldi's Doctor in my opinion but that's another story. |
