Dare I suggest slightly disappointing for last night's episode?

There has been a notable slowing of the pace the last two weeks, but I thought this was a fairly strong episode nonetheless.

It was also nice to see them supporting their sister channel strongly with lots of nice looking promotional stuff for Mars on Nat Geo this Sunday in and around TWD.
Fox freely admit they can't show it uncut at 9 and some episodes have been heavily cut in that slot. Presumably this hurts the rating of that showing?

Odds on which US election programme The Ratings Thread will decide is best tonight

ITV: 1/10 Fav
BBC: 4/1
Sky: 100/1

Come on then guys. Which will you be watching? Perhaps looking elsewhere to CNN or some other US source?

I can understand them having to make cuts to the first episode when shown in that slot. But I wouldn't have thought it's overly common for them to do so?

That season opener was incredibly brutal. Made some early episodes of TWD look like a cartoon or something.

glad to see EE higher, but its still worryingly low compared to Emmerdale.

I hope there is something of a big/talking point storyline soon, I enjoy the realness but its not going to bring viewers in for Christmas Day/NYD at this rate

What's helping EastEnders us that more viewers are around. The share for Monday is still poor though. It shouldn't be struggling to reach 30% on Monday.

Report: CBB to follow in the footsteps of IAC and ban reality TV stars:

http://realitybox.co.uk/celebrity-bi...ty-stars-line/

It's from the Star which in this case means it might be true as they still have sources close to the programme.

CNN for me. With Fox News open on my laptop so I can watch them implode if Clinton wins.

A boost for Eastenders there and Corrie hits 7m. Also SAS got a series high last night too. Quite a good night all round.

That would be very good. BUT i don't believe it. Channel 5= Viacom. Viacom= King of
reality TV. I would find it odd.

Plus, on IAC, I'd say Scarlett is a "reality" star of some sorts.

Haha! I wish CNN International was still on Freeview.

I did think that about Scarlett. If she wasn't on Gogglebox, she'd probably be on one of those shows!

But it could be true. Is there even any evidence to suggest that Bear's appearance on CBB boosted Ex On The Beach in a significant way? I'm not sure there is. What was more apparent was that he rather dominated the edit and ruined the series as a consequence.

The January series is higher rating so it's important they don't make the same mistake this time around.

Susan Boyle's audition clip was put up on You Tube by a viewer and became a popular clip. So much do that Syco later set up an official You Tube channel. On think people overestimate the effect of an act helping boost a programme. BGT has stayed popular for years mist winners are forgettable. If you have a good show with a good mix of acts making good TV that's what gets your ratings. BGT's biggest act, just like X Factor's didn't win it. Boyle did more for the show in 2009 than Diversity who won it. Good contestants give you good ratings and a good series.

There will always be contestants for these series and some return multiple times. What Syco want from these shows is different to what ITV wants from these shows. Wouldn't matter to viewers or ITV if BGT didn't fund a big act, and they haven't most years, as long as the programme is good and popular. Which brings us back to The Voice on NBC.
It won't matter to the core audience but it can bring in new viewers. If XF had Adele as a contestant and she was causing a sensation then I bet ratings would rise. An amazing talent would be a huge boost to the brand right now.

I spend my time in American pop culture thanks to my preference for their sport and TV. Remember I'm the guy who has only seen about 10 British dramas in this whole century.
I remember how David Archuleta caused such a fuss he was being discussed on PTI on ESPN. He came second too!

Being able to go viral can bring new eyeballs. American NFL journalists with hundreds of thousands of followers were retweeting that 2 minute clip of snakes from PE2. I ended up putting that scene on last night so I could see it on a big screen (utterly amazing!!!) just because of NFL Twitter. It's still the only bit of PE2 I've seen but it does make me want to watch it all now.

Whether it's the Voice or Planet Earth or a sporting event... You want that Sportscenter moment. SuBo was that and she increased the rating. The percentage of floating viewers that they can add though has probably greatly diminished. IAC hopefully will get its Sportscenter moment this series.

Series 2 filming dates are now up for Lip Sync Battle UK by the way. They are filming 8 episodes over 8 consecutive nights with the first due to film on November 30 so looks to be back in January like last time as expected.

I think Viacom are more keen to use CBB in January to boost shows on C5 itself rather than the sister channels.

Why does Corrie get better ratings as its absolutely terrible at the moment. Emmerdale is amazing and EE might be quiter at the moment but it's still a lot better than Corrie.

It has more older viewers who'll watch come what may.

I'm guessing the 2m+ viewers Blackburn drove away were from other demos.

It's actually much better lately. It's definitely on the up, if you actually watched it.

Somebody posted the demographic breakdown of the soaps. Em skews older than Corrie with EE skewing the youngest. It's 'ironic' that EE is the soap that would make itv the most money.
Well I say that but maybe not if Corrie is 1m ahead of EE.
Though EE is stronger is the south east of England so that's better for itv.

I'm now arguing with myself.

Other than big episodes of EE, Corrie has nearly always been ahead of it on first showings. Corrie skewing old clearly plays a part in maintaining this even despite the shambolic state it was in under Blackburn that did cost them some viewers.

I don't really see why a fuss needs to be created over this all of a sudden. It's different with SCD vs XF as the status quo there really did change. Bar short periods it never has with Corrie/EE.

Not that there's anything wrong with Gavin posing that question as it relates to his opinion of the current quality of Corrie but it only leads to the same old tired digs when ultimately all of the soaps are in decline and not the juggernauts they once were. Dancc summed it up best a few weeks back.

EE posted a decent figure last night so I'm not sure why we need a repeat of 'EE is doomed because of the new boss's approach'. It's comfortably up on last Monday. I did say to someone whipping up a crisis on the soaps forum that the Halloween effect likely played a part in last Monday's underwhelming figure.

Sub 30 shares on a Monday have been the norm for ages and I don't think there's a lot they can do about it given it has those shares while pulling in a similar no. of viewers to or in last night's case not being massively behind the other soaps.

Yes ITV would rather have EastEnders over Corrie. Lygo admitted as much at that TV Festival a short while back.

Might be wrong here but weren't there a couple of episodes left over from last year that they didn't air? In which case could be a longer run than 8 episodes if they show them as part of this run.

Hopefully this one rates well again. Would be interesting to see how it does if it runs beyond CBB. I know there was one episode after it last year and didn't do well but I remember there being some sort of reason why, so that might not be representative of how it could do.
