That's how the Bake-Off breakdown actually looks and only 1.91m actually time-shifted it whilst 4.05m was VOSDAL.

Also.... look at this....

Sherlock (New Years Day 2016)

LIVE: 6,376,000
VOSDAL: 2,112,000
Time-shifted: 3,155,000
TOTAL = 11,643,000 (40.2%)

As you can see, once the numbers are broken down further and split between VOSDAL and time-shifted, Sherlock is actually massively ahead if you just look at time-shifting. I know that's the different episode to the one you're comparing it with, but you get the idea. BARB don't distinguish between VOSDAL and time-shifted unfortunately.

Is that data sourced from BARB's site?

Is 10m the highest live rating of the year for a TV show?

It'll be interesting to see how tonight's game compares to other sport ratings for 2016. It's much worse weather and Scots are keen to watch so it should compare to the Euros if not the Olympics.

I'm not so sure, I think England football games aren't the big events they used to be. I would have watched this in the past but now. Plus they're such a boring team.

I suppose the Poppy controversy might bring in viewers.

No it's not - but I currently have access to the consolidated ratings.

To be fair, VODSAL is a form of time shift as you're watching it later than the billed broadcast.

True. I was just illustrating how it was broken down.

This is why for simplicity I look at time shifted from the overnight rating. Overnight ratings are Live + VOSDAL (viewed on same day as live) anyway.

Against an England v Scotland Euro qualifier? I'm not so sure.

Were the ratings for the news anything special yesterday?

Do we think Michaels show will see an increase next week after strictly or drop due to X factor, I personally think it will stay pretty level, but maybe a grower

I predict that with the Strictly lead-in, and the fact that this series is on in Winter rather than the Spring screening that series one had, Big Show will regularly overnight at 5m+.

Michaels show will do very well, a perfect slot, great entertainment, and the opposition is very very weak.

The Big show is real family entertainment.

Planet Earth 2 shows quality TV will win, and actually bring in new viewers who are disgruntled with talent shows.

Does anyone in here watch HIGNFY? From the bits I've caught, its not very funny, and the comments on the HIGNFY thread seem to suggest the same.

Although it still rates (presumably because its a tradition with its audience now. Watch it good or bad), is it time it was given a rest?

EastEnders: 4.81m (21.8%)

England v Scotland (19:14-21:59): 4.81m (22.6%) excluding HD / excluding +1

So I'm guessing over 6 million for the football?

Ouch for EE though, I think Emmerdale will be around a million ahead, despite the 6.45pm start.

I used to watch Have I Got News For You all.the time but a constant use of guest hosts of varying quality put me off it. It was at its best with Angus as host.

I started watching it this series as it's on before Still Game. It's not bad actually last night's was quite funny.

Last nights was good but some editions are weak and ride on past glories.

Hislop is prone to going off on far too serious rants sometimes like he's on Question Time, and Paul Merton often sits there in silence for about half the episodes.

People will watch out of tradition because it's been on so long.

I've found Still Game quite funny, I obviously don't know the back story as other series have been tucked away outside of Scotland, but it's been funny as a standalone series.

The One Show always gets a boost when Emmerdale is disrupted.

And A & D Story did well for a rpt on C5.

Sport with national interest gets viewers. England friendlies can be hit and miss, qualifiers do well, qualifiers with England and another British nation do very well. HIGNFY wasn't going to rise opposite England v Scotland.

Poor looking for Eastenders, struggling against what is, admittedly, the biggest draw in the World Cup qualifiers.
It does strike me with that One Show rating, what it might be achieving if ITV didn't have Emmerdale and was having to spread a variety of shows over that weekly 7.00 slot. Both ED and OS remove virtually all decision making in that slot for the big two.
