Very true. Instead they chose to give both BGT and TXF poor lead in's and lead out's for years with pretty feeble shows (Bang On The Money, Play to the Whistle, Go For It) with only one hit found in years. That being Ninja Warrior UK.
Now I think it would be worth testing out Big Little Shots after BGT next year, instead of in the Wednesday 8pm slot. Give it a big lead in. It'll be something a bit different with Dawn French as a new host for ITV on Saturday nights. 6.30pm Ninja Warrior UK 7.30pm Britain's Got Talent 8.50pm Big Little Shots I think, if BLS is any good, that would be a pretty robust schedule. Its about commissioning those shows with potential, and using the big shows to give them support. As Ive said before - if you want to launch a new format like Dance Dance Dance you put it in-between two 45min episodes of BGT auditions and let Ant and Dec introduce it (no advert break). ITV and C4 should seriously consider the American idea of no adverts between some programmes such as after Corrie. The biggest bigger itv has is BGT - it should be in the autumn. If BGT was to clash with SCD (I don't think would because the channels would both be worried) then I think BGT would win. It's battle-hardened and proven. |

Little Big Shots should be a huge hit but it's too similar a format to follow BGT. It'd be better versus Antiques on Sundays.

I'm amazed no-one has done a drama based off the National Crime Agency. |

ITV weeknight schedule revamp idea from 2017 (assumes The Late Show works and is commissioned for most of year and includes 6th Corrie):

Bold but what if ITV did this stripped across the entire week:
17:30 Regional News 18:00 The Chase 19:00 ITV News at 7 19:30 Emmerdale 20:00 .. 20:30 Coronation Street 21:00 .. 22:00 The Late Show 22:35 ITV Late News The Chase could do great at 6pm against the BBC News, better than currently. The News at 7 could be the new primetime flagship bulletin and beat The One Show roundly. Emmerdale is doing so well recently, wonder how much better it'd do at 7.30pm. Stripping Corrie at 8.30pm all week could help the schedule too, and then the 9pm slot is open to everything. The 8pm slot of half hour would be where EastEnders would be forced to move to, so ITV could air For The Love of Dogs, Tonight and other such stuff here. Emmerdale would be hour-long on Wednesday to make its extra episode up, and Corrie's 6th could be an hour-long on Friday night, with a sitcom at 9.30pm like Birds of a Feather. If you ran that schedule you remove the Midsommer slot which means Midsommer could go to [gulp] 8pm on a Saturday after XF. |

That's not bad though I'd run Corrie after Em and let the BBC decide what to do with EE. It'd be better if itv avoided the 6th episode of the soaps.

EastEnders would air Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri at 8pm. There would be no clashes of any soap. |

Monday to Friday at 8.30pm with an hour-long on Friday is the equivalent of 6 episodes. Likewise Emmerdale Monday to Friday at 7.30pm with an hour-long on Wednesday is also 6.

The logic is sound but I'll still automatically avoid itv until 9pm under that schedule. If I know the soaps end by 8:30, I'll consider ITV earlier. At some point itv is going to have to enter soap rehab.

Just think it might be the most logical plan. |

https://s11.postimg.org/7du4p3ms3/itv.png Thoughts? ![]() ITV would also have the problem of Corrie presumably then starting half way through BBC programmes airing at 8-9pm. I can see the logic of trying to spread new shows between big shows but I don't think it would work at all. |

The BBC could then easily just put EE at 7pm (with The One Show ay 7:30pm) giving it the news lead out and build an audience there in the way Emmerdale has from being consistently at 7pm. EastEnders vs The news would probably be a disaster for ITV, especially isolating the regional news back to 5:30pm.

Factual on Tue/Thu are you referring to 9pm or 8pm? ITV rarely airs drama at 9 on these days at the moment but there would be nothing stopping them under this schedule. I really don't think the BBC would leave EE at 7.30 on Tue/Thu for long. Emmerdale is beating it without a clash as it is, let alone with a clash. At least for ITV the week would be consistent in shape. I think The Chase at 6pm would be a great shout. |

No messier than Corrie at 7.30 & 8.30 on Monday and Friday, Emmerdale at 7 and 8 on Thursday, surely?

That schedule looks very soap heavy and less space for choice. I just think that's a schedule that would get Corrie & Emmerdale viewers and struggle to get others in. Coronation Street wouldn't stop viewers switching at 9pm for Silent Witnes, The Apprentice or Gogglebox. The soaps get a solid audience now because they have no real competition. It's about time they all had some real competition. We see what happens to them around Christmas. They are there for the taking! |

The 9pm factual. The 8pm factual would be very easy to schedule against. BBC1 have left EastEnders on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm for 30 years. Would be funny if they thought sod it with EastEnders and put a few longer episodes on that ran over into Coronation Street's slot.

It's about time they all had some real competition. We see what happens to them around Christmas. They are there for the taking! It's about maximising potential for ITV if they successfully launch the 10pm chat show. The Chase at 6pm would do well. Emmerdale would perform at 7.30pm all week long. Corrie would do the business at 8.30pm all week long. Of course that doesn't mean success at 9pm is a certainty. It's up to ITV to commission decent shows people actually want to watch there. I think people wish for more variety in the pre 9pm schedules but quite frankly the networks aren't commissioning for this, especially ITV who have cut shows like The Bill etc off. Even the BBC's only 8pm show, GBBO, is now finished. I think the schedules need tearing up and being made again. You might be happy to keep things exactly the same but I don't think the current schedules are tidy at all, they're a total state and the 6-a-week of the soaps is happening, no avoiding it, so why not try and find a way to schedule them consistently and logically. The schedule is no messier, as I said, to what we're looking at from 2017 which is Corrie on Mon (7.30/8.30), Wed (7.30), Thu (8.30), Fri (7.30/8.30) and ED (Mon-Fri 7pm and Thu 8pm) .. at least this idea bins off the doubles completely! |
