I don't like IAC either and I won't be watching it. Many people do enjoy it and I hope that it maintains its high numbers for the new series.

I will be catching up on Silent Witness which has been sat waiting since January

I rather suspect My Mother and Other Strangers will be a 3m to 2m flop, crushed by I'm a Celebrity, and another series to add to the sadly growing list of BBC One drama flops this autumn. It has hardly been trailed in many of the programme junctions on BBC One.

I reckon you might be about right with those predictions!

Does anyone have that list of historical IAC launch overnights? Planet Earth will almost certainly shoot up this week - it's the hottest show on the box right now.

You think praise is deserved in anyway? It's dire, how can anyone praise that to the high heavens.?

SCD was up, there was only a ten minute overlap, no fireworks no Halloween to blame.

Out of interest do you have a spreadsheet of XF figures you refer to?

Tricky for the BBC because they make money from GBBO so not allowing it on air is costing the BBC and licence payers money.
It sounds like a non-issue since the Stand Up to Cancer charity series will happen next October so it's back next year anyway.

The Sun also reported that Paul claims that Mary told him to stay with GBBO and she would have done the same if she was younger. The whole story now seems rather like old news.

Very good for Jonathan Ross. Strictly finally hits the 10 million barrier (on a normal week).

Yes it's always nice to see mega shows on tv. I followed GBBO's ratings with interest even though I think GBBO is tedious viewing.
I've watched and missed whole seasons of IAC and I'll see how it goes tonight before deciding whether to stick with it.

”

This is interesting. I was just going to say it's dow 0.2m y-o-y but those peak figures are quite different indeed. I wonder why it was peaking higher last year?! My only theory is this was the point Strictly was really into gear at this point last series and was all the way till the end of it's series. It wouldn't surprise me now if each episode is marginally down on last year now until the final. Even though this series is still excellent, I think last year was probably a bit better.

XF increases 0.4m - which it really needed to do after a few poor weekends. I do think it might be squeezed out tonight with Planet Earth II dominating further and then IAC launch really reducing down same-day time-shifters. We'll see.

In other news ITV will be delighted by Jonathan Ross - up 1m on average I think!

Just a question on the SCD and XF peaks. Are they both coinciding with Ed and Honey G respectively?

So strictly is down yoy, i read that this series was a strong one but for me 10 is a little underwhelming, I mean obviously amazing but I want for for such an entertaining series.

I'm still amazed that the JRS is up nearly TWO MILLION on what it was getting just a few weeks ago!

Some overnights from the equivalent night 6 years ago (as initially posted by Barkers_ Nipple):

Strictly 10.7 (peak 12.3)
Merlin 6.3
Casualty 3.9
British Legion 4.8

Harry Hill 7.9
X Factor 13.5 (peak 13.9)
Take That 5.1

MPD 1.7

At some stage you would think ITV should attempt to bring Burp back, that's a huge rating. Clearly XF at its peak there but FoR not all that far off last nights rating and Merlin hasn't been matched by any attempt at fantasy on terrestrial since.

IAC launching with 10.3 million that year according to a post a few pages on.

Incidentally SCD is at Blackpool this coming weekend so may see a spike.

2010 was a freak year for both shows due to the weather. 2011 is a better gauge.

SCD is holding its share well though it clearly has peaked but is down a few hundred thousand. I keep expecting it to rise more thanks to Ed Balls. Maybe next week.

XF 2013 shows how to do consistency. Saturday down 1.5% and Sunday up 1.5%.
Sunday over 9m. Fantastic figure. To think some will have complained over those numbers!
