Dire was not tongue in cheek, It covers it fully, XF viewering figures are dire, I planned to leave it brief as some here have requested the XF debate to be curtailed. Then when then a poster came back and says we should "praise them to the high heaven", I choose to come back with evidence of past ratings to back that up.
I saw the " banter " re my post with ratings, and came back with banter.
I was not annoyed , I didn't come back with a strong post like a few recently, so your conclusion of can't take them back, is completely incorrect.
And this also is a measured response to explain.
It seems a few here see discussions and can't see banter and like to try to whip it up more then it actually is? ,
XF Ratings this year are " dire" anyone trying to spin that any other way, is not telling the truth.

Such interesting figures - it's a real one-off of a show in the sense that its series post-2010 have outperformed most of the previous 10 series.
Jonathan Ross doing better this year.
As for the IAC numbers, I think it's quite funny that the worst series IMO in the 15 year run (13th series in 2013) was the highest rated.

Friday's show was unusually less "Hollywood A list" than usual, so I was wondering if that meant ratings went up, down, or stayed the same.

I don't think Lulu brings much to the party. imho.
The strictly peaks says more, 2 million less peak, which says to me why the finals are rating lower. Clearly less interest in the show which disappoints me.

The news of ITV looking for returning story of the week shows (exactly what they once had aplenty and dropped) is interesting.
I recall on here when The Bill was on the way out suggesting that they broaden it out to something like 'Sun Hill Emergency' - where each week the story could focus on the police, or the London's Burning fire station (same area) or the hospital. This would allow a cast of recurring characters to swap over from one location to another, variety in the storytelling of different settings dependent on the emergency and also allow for a bit of a follow up of big stories across the different genres.
Pretty much what has happened in the US with the creation in effect of a Chicago Emergency franchise - via Chicago Fire, PD, Med and the fourth one about lawyers.
It helps the BBC to have Casualty and Holby loosely interacting. I think both shows get a boost to their ratings by that overlap, despite it not being overdone in practice.
CSI did the same - separate shows but the option for crossovers of cast and stories. Law and Order did. And NCIS still does (even having a link to Scorpion).
So ITV might well find it useful to find a way to create a story of the week franchise by coming up with a strong starting format but with options lined up for associated ones that can be launched and link in and will allow them to broaden the base of the story telling so the audience does not get bored by it all being police or medical stories.
Viewers like the familiarity of cast and setting without the repetition of a small focus on one location and group of people or types of story.

I'm not sure where IAC will land tonight in terms of ratings. There's definitely going to be a lot of viewers about, especially with Planet Earth II in the mix this year. Would be nice to see 10m+ for IAC but that late finish again might drag things down somewhat.
Also - I see IAC faces Children in Need this year. When was the last time this happened? Hasn't it managed to avoid it for the last few years?! It might take a substantial hit that night (although hasn't CIN been doing quite poorly for last few years?).

NCIS LA has also crossed over with Hawaii 50.
It'd be quite simple to set the show anchored around a family (see Blue Bloods) but where one is a senior copywriter, one a doctor in the hospital, one kid is a rookie cop and the daughter decides she wants to join the local fire brigade.
Toss in a high powered lawyer who daddy cop is having an affair with and another kid at university and away you go.
Your new Bill, London's Burning, Emergency Department and Scales of Justice dramas have a launching pad. Hell, you can throw an air ambulance angle in there too.

Harry Hill himself said he wants the show to come back but without him, and instead with guest presenters. I think that could work quite well if they got the right people on it!

I'm not sure how those two things are necessarily mutually exclusive but a quick trip to their help page would have told you ...

I pencilled in Lulu as one of the singers (Michael Ball was another as one of the singers in my song and dance show (SAD show).
Singer and choreographer (think the SCD lot) would each week have to do a routine for a song. So Lulu might sing Freedom whilst Brendan Cole puts on a matching dance routine. She picks and sings the song and he arranges the dance number. No public vote off.
Simple Saturday nonsense at 7pm. This idea predates LSAD and Dance Dance Dance. Funnily enough Barlow was another singer I thought of. Not really big enough for him though. Alexandra Burke and Orla are others.

It will be interesting to see how Danni Minogue comes across and viewer reaction to her. If its positive I wonder if Mr Cowell would take note. She is the only one of the golden 4 not to have returned.
Presumably it will be posted against The Voice. Even if they are not scheduled directly against each other though, their respective performance is going to be a story in the press and on here.
