Why Wimbledon continues to leave money on the table I will never know. I know Londoners struggle to cope with a sporting event going past 9:45pm but Wimbledon is missing out on not having a night game.

This especially applies when you reach the QFs and SFs and all of the tennis is finished before people get home from work. When Murray has been playing at 9pm due to rain it has led to 8m people watching. Tennis needs the eyeballs.

Or they could sell the night game to sky and gain 750k extra viewers plus have a very marketable game to sell to European and American tv.

I don't think it should be scheduled at 8pm. ITV do not need another singing/talent show swaming prmetime.

On Saturday it should launh at 7pm, or Sunday at 6.30pm. It needs to be used to buld up ITV's night schedule.

If it starts at 6:30 (not a bad idea in many ways) they've got a problem at 8pm. Take Me Out is better suited to 6:30 or 9:30. I don't think they trust any gameshow to go at 8pm even though the BBC happily does.

The Next Great Magician would have worked in that 8pm slot. That feels like a Paul Daniels sort of time.

If only there was a way of combining some variety TV with a quiz element. Maybe I'll think of something in oooh, three seconds...

I agree. The last series launched with 7.1m. I imagine it'll come in a bit below that, how far below depends on scheduling.

Regarding "Extra Camp", I also have just tuned into the Ant and Dec chats this year and agree even that has been cringeworthy.

The problem looks to be that there is nobody playing it straight, a professional presenter holding it together. In effect you've got 4 side kicks and no main host.

At one point Joe Swash seemed to be acting as lead presenter and nobody wants that.

I think the format seen in recent years has worked well, last year wasn't as good as the comedian who stood in for Rob Beckett was weak and seemed to just make jokes about his sexuality like a one track comedian.

Joe Swash is ok when he is like the joke character, doing the trials and getting verbally abused throughout the show but not as main host. And I hope this isn't offensive, but I like a regional accent on TV but you've got 4 of the strongest accents going against each other on here all at the same time, and its a bit too much.

Hopefully they will return to the previous format next year.


Good stuff, and quite a long contract, all the BBC need to do is also to not attempt to mess around with their coverage as well like the 2015 debacle.

I can think of an alternative forum about TV that this thread would sit well in and would also filter out some of the dross as well.

I doubt the All England Club is going to sell any matches to Sky plus it's not as simple as simply adding a night match, the matches have to scheduled and that's factoring in potential rain delays and there is a curfew in place so matches can't play beyond 11pm.

I will give it a try, I enjoyed the series up to the last, Boy George didn't work, nice Sir Tom is back. I have concerns they will " X Factor" it, if the format doesn't change a pure music show on the talent, not the judges crying, and have a good level of research and contestants I will watch. But I do worry it's going to be changed......

Strictly gets 9m+. That's a very high bar. The XF got 8m earlier this series but I don't believe a singing show is likely to hit 9m regularly anymore.

I'd be very surprised if there is a live FA Cup 3rd Round match on Sat 7th. No longer standard practice. Most likely to be Fri 6th and Sunday or Monday.

Clearly updating (or messing about with the main site) has backfired.

You simply have 7:30pm start matches like in other countries. It what the o2 is doing this week. It's easy to schedule a later match, tennis does it a lot. Yes there is a dew problem but there is a dew problem when matches go late now but they cope.

In a couple of year's time they'll have the new #1 Court and have even more opportunity to have later matches. Few men's matches go longer than 3 hours and many ladies' matches don't go past the hour!

I'm pretty sure ESPN and other channels would like it and pay a tad more for it. It certainly isn't going to mean less money. For the Beeb it'd be much needed live sport and some great ratings if we have a Brit involved.

Well yes that having a singing contest run from August to April on one channel can cause fatigue, I still think that TVUK could do very well. Bar the big gimmick of the chairs, it us all about the Voice.

If Strictly and BGT can get big figures so can TVUK, yes the other show makes you think the audience has gone.

Not sure how the August article ( I read at that time), relates to singing contests on ITV, bar Nick was a judge on one.

Issue is defending the indefensible, Cowell couldn't this week in The Metro, talking about cancellation of a 9.5 million viewer show. If it got those viewers cancellation wouldn't even be uttered, but at 6 million it is.
