Alphabetical: 1.4m (11.9%)
I expected that to go the same way as this, especially when viewers were highly critical of the format. But I underestimated the Bradley Walsh factor there, offering at least a degree of familiarity for long time viewers of ITV at 5pm, which must have helped a lot judging by the very poor start Alphabetical has had. |

Anything for CBB?
I'd love to know what the significance of being "up on the slot average" is in this context, given that it's very rare for C4 to screen an hour-long programme at 10.30 on a Monday night. Normally that hour would contain maybe half an hour / 35 minutes of a new programme and the remainder a repeat. Does it really constitute a slot in that case? Or is Broadcast merely peddling pro-C4 spin? But yeah, mucky stuff does work well after 11pm. It's hardly news. See C5 in the early 00s! |

Broadcast didn't refer to it in their article. But I see they bought into the Naked Attraction line fed to them by C4.

So DCI Banks could be going on Wednesday at 9pm or Friday at 9pm, as Long Lost Family and Doc Martin finish next week.
ITV Press Centre currently has Victoria, DCI Banks, All Star Mr & Mrs, Go For It and Love of Dogs all down to launch in that week, alongside a one-off Ellie Simmonds: Swimming with Dolphins. So quite a busy week. Go For It is down for Saturday (presumably 7pm) and Ellie Simmonds for Sunday (again presumably at 7pm which is awful scheduling as it'll be against Countryfile). The others are currently unplaced but presumably M&M will get Wednesday at 8pm and Love of Dogs Thursday at 8.30pm. |

Correct. Mondays and Thursdays are also free (although I doubt it'll get Mondays) so it could land anywhere except Tuesday.

Perhaps ITV should give the UK version of Jeopardy another go. It's suitable for a rolling daily format and with the right host could do well.

Cash Trapped didn't launch against the Olympics.
It might have more of a chance of finding an audience next week, we shall have to wait and see. |

Some extremely low ratings being recorded elsewhere, notably on C4. I'm still confused as to why they continue to tweet about Naked Attraction every week, or indeed why they are tweeting about a rating of less than 1m regardless of the programme. ). "Look, it's 53% higher than the slot average. That justifies its sordid existence". 53% higher than the slot average? I was going to say what's normally on at that time, Internaional Bum Scratcing? But f the slot is normally occupied by a four day old repeat of something that didn't rate that highly in the first place, a "53% higher than the slot average" is hardly something to boast about. |

Goodness me! What a load of old tripe!
![]() All Star Mr & Mrs is ITV flogging a dead horse, Go For It I can only see beingseries 2 of Get Yor Act Together i.e. sub 2m, and the Ellie Symmonds thing should be after the news. In an exposed 7pm slot against Countryfile it'll be no more than 1.5m leading into TXF. That would be like ITV asking TXF to self start - AGAIN!! |

Are you implying I'm a troll there? Is that the level you descend to in order to defend yet another tatty programme from Five? Do let me know so I can decide whether to report you or not. The smilie doesn't negate the insult. If you apologise I'll consider letting it go.
The post wasn't even addressed to you and yet you can't resist leaping to their defence yet again can you? It's a Pavlovian response with you it seems, unable to let one go by without your usual knee-jerk reaction. BBC3 and C4 have done this subject more than once but it seems that's no barrier to Five re-heating it undeservedly. It's a brilliant commission, wouldn't look out of place on BBC Three or E4 or ITVBe so what's wrong with Channel 5 doing it.... Oh, don't worry, I've got your number on this subject..... |

Almost TV Festival time then! The lineup is here:
http://www.thetvfestival.com/festival-programme Plenty of interesting bits and pieces to look out for there. Obviously the Meet the Controller sessions are always worth a watch for us enthusiasts, but plenty of other decent sounding stuff this year. Patrick Holland (channel editor) will step in to do BBC Two's Meet the Controller session. The debate with various controllers is also back and Kay Burley has no involvement, which will make it infinitely more watchable. Good to see both Taskmasker (Dave) and Lip Sync Battle (C5) getting the TV Festival treatment as well. Could be entertaining ! |

How long before ITV commissions a celebrity velodrome show a la Splash, given the cycling ratings?
![]() (Unless they already did and I missed it! ) 7m for the omnium is crazy, a word millions never had in their vocabulary til last night, but from non cycling friends of mine on Facebook it seemed to have gone down a storm. Anyway, think it's the crazy "follow the motorbike" cycling finals tonight (though it's an electric bike in Rio) |

Some ITV commissioning news. Quote:
The Good Karma Hospital ITV's new six part medical drama, The Good Karma Hospital, produced by Tiger Aspect Drama, has commenced filming with Amanda Redman, Amrita Acharia, Neil Morrissey, Phyllis Logan, James Floyd, Darhsan Jariwalla and Sagar Radia taking leading roles. Set in a coastal town in tropical South India, the series tells the story of British-Asian junior doctor, Ruby Walker, played by Amrita Acharia (Game of Thrones), who arrives at the run-down Good Karma Hospital to join a dedicated team of over-worked medics. Run by a gloriously eccentric Englishwoman, Lydia Fonseca, played by acclaimed British actress Amanda Redman, this under-funded but creatively resourceful cottage hospital is the beating heart of the local community. It's much more than just a medical outpost - it's a home. With casting from both the UK and Mumbai, The Good Karma Hospital is life-affirming, contemporary drama full of extraordinary characters from all walks of life. Of her casting as Dr Lydia Fonseca, Amanda Redman said: "I leapt at the chance to play Dr Lydia Fonseca. She is a great character and the scripts are terrific. I have always loved India and Sri Lanka. The people and varied cultures are fascinating, so spending time filming here couldn't be better. I also love the food, but will have to try and restrain myself. Easier said than done!" Amrita Acharia said of Ruby: "It's great to be cast in a Brit-Asian lead role in what's an atypical coming-of-age story in many ways. The role of Ruby will be exciting to explore as she uproots the only home she knows, to be thrown into the deep end of a place with a different perspective on universal dilemmas of life, love, success and failure, and ultimately confronts herself with the past she was escaping from." Will Gould, Frith Tiplady and Iona Vrolyk will executive produce The Good Karma Hospital for Tiger Aspect Drama. “We’re really excited to be working with Dan on his first original series commission,” said Will. “His scripts are as evocative as they are entertaining, full of wonderfully flawed but fascinating characters that find their place in the world a long way from home. The scripts have attracted a brilliantly distinctive cast, and we can’t wait to start filming to bring their extraordinary stories to life.” The 6 x 60' drama is created and written by Dan Sefton (The Five, Mr Selfridge, Death in Paradise), with scripts also from Vinay Patel and Nancy Harris. The series is produced by Stephen Smallwood (Ripper Street), and the first episodes are directed by Bill Eagles (Gotham). The Good Karma Hospital has been commissioned for ITV by Controller of Drama, Victoria Fea, who will oversee the drama on behalf of the broadcaster. The production begins shooting on location in Sri Lanka this month (August 2016). Quote:
Fearless
Acclaimed actress Helen McCrory will play Emma Blunt in Fearless, ITV’s new 6 x 60’ exciting, visceral political thriller. Fearless is written by Homeland writer and executive producer Patrick Harbinson and produced by leading independent programme makers, Mammoth Screen. Mammoth’s portfolio includes the much-anticipated Victoria starring Jenna Coleman for ITV, popular drama Endeavour also for ITV, the critically-praised mini series And Then There Were None and internationally renowned hit Poldark. “Fearless is a legal thriller,” said Patrick Harbinson. “But one that’s written in the crash zone where law and politics collide.” Emma Blunt is a solicitor known for defending lost causes. She’s investigating the killing of a schoolgirl in East Anglia and trying to free the man she thinks was wrongly convicted of the girl’s murder. As she digs ever deeper into the case, she begins to sense powerful forces, in the police and the intelligence services at home and abroad, who want to stop her uncovering the truth. |

That's like saying someone died in a car today, so no one should make a joke about Skoda's. This mad thin skinned world we now live in.
Car crashes are sadly common everyday occurrences. Deaths by taser are very rare and this is the first ever to involve an Aston Villa player. It was the lead front page story on today's Sun and high on all major news broadcasts last night. Hardly up there with a Skoda crashing for coincidences. Moreover, I said it was just very bad luck for a new show on its first day as far as I know nobody has caused a fuss over this. Even if anyone else but me noticed it. But I don't think it is being 'thin skinned' to point out what was without doubt a tragic coincidence for a new show. As for the ratings, I like Jeff Stelling, too, and he did well with Countdown and is doing okay with this show. I also think he was picked as a Bradley-alike for the target audience. Though comments are mixed on those for whom he was not a familiar face - as those who do not watch Sky would likely not find him to be. The quiz itself is easier to dip in and out of than Cash Trapped - that will count in its favour. I suspect it will not drop constantly like Cash Trapped did but as it starts from a low point that is no sign they have a new returning show unfortunately. |
