Good review in The Guardian. However, the comments show what a sad, bitter and twisted bunch their readers are!!
Dad's Army film on Sky Cinema today. There'll be a few early downloads not picked up by BARB. It's a bit of a shame Dad's Army couldn't have premiered on the BBC but I guess it wasn't a BBC production. |

It's a shame to see EE rating poorly this week - last week it seemed to be on the up?

Yes, that is what I'd do. And competeing like this isn't going to stop viewers donating anyway.

I too wonder what ITV didn't schedule this way, either. They could argue they were scheduling like this so that the main news could stay at 10pm. But in a period when the schedule is heavy in soap, jungle and weekend LE, it's good that they can still find room for some factual programming. But, yes, it does open them up the issue in your last sentence, Fudd.

8pm tonight on itv should be a good watch. Searching for a blue shark off the coast of the UK is interesting factual unlike searching for traffic offences inside the UK.

How is The Apprentice holding up in the officials?
Its overnights aren't too bad for a show that's been going for over 10 years, but I am of the impression that it consolidates well still? Looking at the BARB website for that week, it just sinks in that Planet Earth was the Number 1 programme of the whole week, which is BRILLIANT!!! (even though I already knew that). Quote:
The Apprentice is a bit of a farce this year; none of them seem ready to be Lord Sugar's Apprentice - he must be close to losing his cool completely! Though it makes more interesting TV, the race to the bottom can become repetitive after a while. I'm not writing this to criticise The Apprentice for no reason but as a potential reason why it didn't hold up quite as well as previous years. Maybe being opposite an I'm A Celebrity episode being supported by Coronation Street didn't help - it hasn't had to face that recently.
DIY SOS was always going to struggle to get into the top three as it was against the soaps. It'll have a tough time of it next week too. |

Is anyone else on here really hoping series 10 of Doctor Who does well and ratings go up? I'm in fear the BBC might cancel it if it drops again in the next series.
I collect the figures, and there has been a marked decline in the production of these in the last few years. During DT run as the Doctor, we had almost 15+ new figures released every year And I'm disappointed there has been no new series this year. Moffatt is clearly got to much on his plate, what with Sherlock & Doctor Who. The story suggests that both the doctor and the companion might leave in the Christmas 2017 episode as the new companion only has a one year contract. Not sure how true any of that is, but if it is then the BBC appear to be both thinking ahead that far and to be looking at making major changes too as they must expect something radical to be required to try to revive ratings. A lot will depend on how good/bad the Christmas special is and how long the gap after that before the series starts to grab viewers based on any goodwill it generates. |

According to the DW forum on here the BBC are already planning the 2018 series without Moffatt and Capaldi. Chris Chibnall of Broadchurch is taking over. And the BBC want a new younger doctor to help sell dolls, apparently.

Assuming Top Gear has gone down the tubes in the last year, Doctor Who is the BBC's number one worldwide brand. They aren't going to cancel it, although I could believe the rumours they want a David Tennant clone in playing the part for the next but one series. |

Corrie is on next Thursday at 8.30 pm too - up against the second half of the first Who Do You Think You Are? episode - with Danny Dyer - which has got the cover story in this week's Radio Times and has featured in several press stories this week because of what he found out about his family.

So we can look forward to lots of Doctor Who should be played by a non-white or female or both talk to go with the new James Bond talk.
Perhaps Rebecca Root is already lined up. Just getting the idea in early!

I don't think Corrie is usually shown on Thursdays whereas Thurs at 19:30 is one of the 'classic' EE times.

Albeit Coronation Street could be doing slightly better than that considering Emmerdale practcially matched it at 8pm, albeit in it's usual slot. Quote:
The Apprentice was on a Wednesday last year when IAC wouldn't have had a soap lead-in. DIY SOS is not on next Thursday. It's Who Do You Think You Are?
