Oh behave H. You are on a right old BBC rant today.
You seriously think these sketches are done to encourage viewers to watch the actual programme ?
Watch CIN now, couple of ITV presenters to make you more at home

No of course they are not, but it wouldn't hurt to pick a better clip that might make viewers (like me) look forward to the Xmas ep.

But on this occasion, as long as CIN raise lots of money for charity, its not that imprtant in the grand scheme of things.

I think there were maybe concerns from the I'm A Celebrity production team that it was all going swimmingly so they needed to inject something in there to spice it up. Danny and Martin alone may have been enough but the trial's certainly added an edge. Of course, those who were thinking it was dull are now enjoying the series and those who liked the relaxed atmosphere are disliking the edginess. It's not often that I feel sorry for producers but this might be one of those occasions.

Accidentally landed on CIN. Still garbage TV then. Go up digit one and hit TOTP 82 on BBC4 and it's like night and day.

Dave Kid Jenson!

It's weird seeing these charts acts. None of them seem to be Act A featuring Act B. These acts look like popstars with distinctive personalities who could even sell magazines. Who knew?

Glad to hear IAC has sprung in to life. I'm a day behind and was considering packing it in.

ps.. number 1 is Come on Eileen. Cue that joke by Homer Simpson.

So if it carried on, with them all getting along, all nicey, you would enjoy that for 3 weeks? I'm pretty sure ratings would start to go down as viewers declared it 'boring', which they have already.
Yes I probably would - but thanks for the patronising put down of my opinion
That seems to be your modus operandii as a poster on this forum.

I was only asking, I wasn't stating it as a bad choice. And it wasn't meant to be patronising. Apologies if you took it that way.

Lowest Children in Need rating in a long long time. Not surprising either.

I'm a Celebrity should be around 7m.

Just looked on BARB, the 2001 main show had 7.12m in the officials. So lowest in 15 years. I know it was up against the soaps and IAC but it has faced them before and has had figures of 9m.

I know it raises a lot of money, which is great, but there's I feel there is no excitement around the telethon anymore. Only saw bits of last night but they didn't have much to offer. I remember in 2009 with Peter Kay's animated band and the year after that with the East Street sketch. They need to put more of an effort in and have special sketches. The cupboard seemed very bare this year.

I have amended my post to take out the lowest ever part. Apologies there.

Yes it's not the best for Children in Need. I wonder if the IAC clash and the lack of Terry also contributed

The two presenters on after 10 were dire.

At least Children in Need did better than the usual ailing EastEnders on a Friday night.

And £46m raised - the highest raised on a Children in Need night. I'd say that's the ultimate aim as far as the BBC is concerned.

I don't think there has been a clash for a few years with IAC, but clash or not its a poor looking figure. Obviously a good cause and there were some heartbreaking stories, but it was noticeably bland and lightweight last night imo as an entertainment event. Probably the worst in the last decade. The lack of ITV stars (remember East Street?) the sad loss of Sir Terry and the fact they didn't seem to go to town on it (the star laden sketch wasn't that good for me) all added up to watching out of tradition rather than having an on the night draw factor.
A few years ago I think CIN pushed IAC down below 5 million, but it no way has the buzz about it to do that again. Also you have to wonder if its actually needed in current form given the astonishing figure raised. As a tv event-it needs more work next time imo.

The content on Children in Need was very thinly spread, tired and weak, and the presenting cupboard was obviously very bare as they had to get non BBC presenters to present the BBC's flagship event of the year.

When a clip of Christmas Doctor Who, which isn't even as big a thing as it once was, is one of the main promoted highlights, it's time to think of new ideas.

Yes it raises loads of money, but it's a secret how much of that was already banked by 7:30pm and how much is generated by the telethon itself.

The Good Old Days was the most entertaining show on tv last night,Bernard Cribbins,Patricia Hayes and John Inman, and 40 years old.

I don't agree in all honesty. I thought they had a decent chemistry (they are married I guess), and I thought the "head feeling" segment was probably the best bit of the night imo.
