Disappointing for Children in Need (I find it a bit sad that a programme like I'm A Celebrity beat it) but I guess the record money raised is what really matters.
I think the telethon suffered from having a very weak lineup (in terms of the clips and acts performing) in comparison to previous years, and not having Terry Wogan as Lead Presenter. I watched about an hour of it and it certainly seemed to have lost it's sparkle. |

Will you be watching it tonight as usual?

I also want to see the exc. +1 figures. The best bet should hopefully be next week's Broadcast. I would ask rzt, but I think his access is limited unfortunately.
If you have anymore interesting ratings stats Roscoe please post Those live figures are fascinating! Last week's Planet Earth could well timeshift to 13m, already the rating of the year for me.Tonight I reckon: Strictly - 10.5m (Blackpool boost) X Factor - 6.2m (think it will be back up) I'm A Celebrity - 8.2m (last year's first Saturday show had 7.4m inc. +1 so should be up on that) Quote:
SCD, Bake Off, BGT, IAC, all these programmes defy the "general downward trend", so why can't CIN? If all these shows can do it, why isn't CIN holding people's interest?
Why can XF, a twice-weekly show not a one-off event, hold at 6.4m+ against 10m+ opposition, but CIN didn't manage that against a 7.2m show? The BBC need to have a long, hard think. CIN didn't clash last year with IAC if I recall correctly, and in the recent past CIN started st 7 pm rather than TOS, and starting head to head with Corrie doesn't help. Quote:
Final Score has been curtailed to allow coverage of tennis featuring Andy Murray to air on BBC One.
They should probably be back on track by news time but could edit down the Children in Need repeat if so required. |

GBBO wasn't down? SCD is level, or slightly up. We know Friday's is a hard night to get big viewing figures in. Why should the BBC have a hard think if it raised £46 million?
Raising £46 million is superb, what it's all about, but they are still going to care if not enough are watching this super-expensive telethon they put on. That's a fact. |

If you actually read what I said for a change...

As said one made millions for children with needs, one makes millions for SyCo. Though nice of Simon to be part of a CIN sketch. I must admit I tend not to read your pro XF posts, as you tend to be the only one still thinking they are great. Been at a University and asked about XF answers were. Quote:
Is it on?
Is it still on? What's that Honey G on drugs all about. Gave up on it years ago. |

But it got on a Friday night what XF gets on Saturdays and Sundays, you feel XF Ratings at 6.2 million should be " praised to high heaven" but CIN is poor?

Also, it's an annual event whereas XF airs 2 days a week from August to December. A bit of a difference! Again, great for it to make millions, but the expensive telethon losing viewers will be a concern. Why is the BBC using its money on this telethon, when the money could go direct to the charity (and spent on raising awareness to boost donations further)? Just a thought. |

Oh I forgot that McIntyre thing starts tonight. Reckon 4.5m for that. Quote:

I asked you this the other day but if you hate X Factor so much, why on earth do you constantly go on about it? I really, really don't understand. And did you really go to a Uni and ask people about it? Why? |

Low rating for CIN last night, though not surpising. Its great that they raise so much money, but the telathon remains poor, and insipid (bar the stories being shown to raise money).
IAC did well. 7.2m isn't too bad up against CIN. Should see a higher figure tonight I reckon, for the fallout. I'm going with 8.1m. McIntrye will likely keep viewers on BBC1 tonight even more than the Lottery shows, so I predict 5.4m for him, and 6.1m for TXF. |

The Children in Need highlights have now been axed and replaced by a repeat of Pointless Celebrities.

My early predictions for tonight (subject to change) SCD - 10.5 MM - 5.7 Casualty - 4.3 XF - 6.1 IAC - 8.2 MM is the only real interesting rating. The rest will fall within their recent range. SCD should be up from Blackpool. |

/QUOTE] The producers are stuck in the past where they think a clip of Christmas Doctor Who is one of the main highlights in the press release. |

I have to ask - if the ratings for X Factor and Strictly were reversed would we have lots of comments saying "Strictly is still doing okay" or would there be lots of gloating about its decline? I pretty sure Cowell and, especially, Walsh would be having a dig. I don't see Claudia and Tess boasting about the size of Strictly's lead.

That's a surprise. A highlights show of CiN would be seen by some new viewers and would generate some more charitable donations.

You do see Craig doing that, though. They are a fairly snide bunch over on SCD.

For Drama yes.
For Comedy, yes. But not for big hitters. SCD, BGT. GBBO. IAC Planet Earth. All big hitters, all over ten million, all with decent consolidation. X Factor, can no longer keep up in the marathon, it's 60% of the big hitters, it's downgraded from its former glory to an also ran adequate show. But it's budget and cost is higher than the big hitters. |

![]() I remember in 2009 when Louis Walsh used to put the boot in about Strictly's ratings. Or if not the ratings more the show. Mind, he's still doing that now. But back in 2009 it was justified, that was a dodgy year for Strictly. |

Wouldn't it be nice to see Planet Earth 2 type rating for Michael McIntyre tonight? A rating to take us all by surprise again. I realise its unlikely, but it would be nice to see a new massive rating variety show/ mainstream comedy.
