Looks like the BBC has seen where ITV is putting Victoria and gone for the throat. They want Poldark to be the new DA.

Why would this otherwise be at 9pm? Its surely not rude like MBB?
From what I remember, didn't Are You Being Served? have a lot of innuendo? Where else could they put it? On another night?

In terms of the Sunday night in question, I assume Countryfile is at 7pm. They could put it at 8pm, but then Simon Cowell would probably complain the BBC is scheduling aggressively against The X Factor. I have no idea what BBC One is showing at 8pm - Antiques Roadshow?

Personally, I think having comedy against period drama is a good move - different genres and therefore a broader choice available in this time slot. It's a shame it'll be period drama vs. period drama afterwards, though.

ITV complaining about BBC scheduling will fall on deaf ears now Whittingdale has gone, the licence renewal is guaranteed in any case.

Has Digiguide stopped updating with provisional schedules on a Tuesday?

This must be at least the third week in a row I haven't had an update. Just a sea of TBAs everywhere still.

Big Fat Quiz was the ultimate in lazy scheduling, it's supposed to be an annual event, not a regular series.

I wouldn't expect any more from Channel 4 though, if it does well it'll come back for a new series every 3 months.
I'm sorry, and this is no slight on you personally, but I really do get annoyed by posts complaining that TV programmes are not what they're "supposed to be". The only people who can say what The Big Fat Quiz is "supposed to be" are the people making and commissioning the programme. If they say it's going to be on more than once a year, it is. Their show, their format, their scheduling.

It's not even as if it's the first time they've done more than once a year, as its ridiculously detailed Wikipedia page points out - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bi...iz_of_the_Year - they've done two series of decades-based shows in previous years. I don't think five shows a year is bleeding it that dry. I can take or leave it, I recorded it last night as I like a number of the personnel and will watch it when I have an idle hour, but I don't watch every one because I often can't bear a couple of the panellists.

Ugh, I hate that Channel 4 has commisioned a 3 part series of Big Fat Quiz in the middle of the year. Very happy to see it rated low. Cats Does Countdown is already airing a new series on Friday at the moment.
Catsdown has actually appeared quite sparingly this year by its own standards - last year they had a sixteen-part series running from May to September. I'm not expecting this one to last that long. I'm afraid as contrived and predictable as it is, I can't slag it off too much because I still find it hugely entertaining.

Anything for CBB?
Broadcast didn't refer to it in their article.
1.36 million, according to the app.

Salv* was after the total audience including those who watched on +1.

I think it was poor form of Broadcast not to mention it, it can't have done much worse than the Benidorm repeat they found time to write about.

Personally I'm not enjoying this series of CBB very much: every episode is basically the same as the previous. But it's holding up well against the Olympics and that ought to be recognised. After all, if it was struggling we would be hearing plenty about it I imagine.

I don't know how it will go.

ITV want Victoria to be the new Downton Abbey while BBC1 think they can establish a Sunday Autumn drama now Downton is over.

There will be some curiosity factor for Are You Being Served while Victoria had been plugged for months.

Not really much to complain about with a sitcom opposite a drama. BBC1 did this in the early 90s with Birds Of A Feather on Sundays facing London's Burning. Could bring more viewers to the slot rather than splitting a drama audience.

This is going to be a tough prediction in the ratings game thread!

Innuendo doesn't have to be post watershed due to the fact it's innuendo.

In the 90s they used to show repeats of Are you being served at 5:30 on a Saturday.

Are You Being Served was always a pre-watershed sitcom even with its very obvious pussy jokes. Soaps in primetime have limited slots for early evening sitcoms in my opinion.

Based on the graphic just shown it looks like the cycling is staying on BBC1 until its conclusion at 10:30.

Or the graphic could just have been wrong.

This is a match up where I can't guess what'll happen. Hopefully there will be two big audiences because they appeal to two different audiences. Don't write off either.

BBC News at Ten moved to around 10:30. Good to see they have learnt from the last couple of nights.

Looks like they've listened to the complaints and admitted they were wrong to flit about from one channel to another in the middle of gold medal events.

BBC1
Olympics 2016 (20:30-21:59): 7.37m (33.7%)
EastEnders: 5.46m (26.3%)
Olympics 2016 (18:59-19:59): 4.64m (25.6%)

BBC2
Olympics 2016 (22:00-22:31): 6.90m (35.1%)
Olympics 2016 (19:59-20:29): 5.06m (24.3%)
Only Connect: 1.66m (7.6%)
The Olympics have really hit their stride over the last few days. Some great numbers last night in particular that BBC2 rating at 10pm. 6.9m! Absolutely huge number & share. When was the last time any show, on any channel at 10pm hit that number?

The 8.30-10pm segment on BBC1 did really well too with a huge 7.4m and knocking Corrie down somewhat. Even BBC2 had 5.1m at 8pm against BBC1's 5.5m for EE. Every channel will be glad when the games are over, as they really are pulling everything down.

The Olympics hit their stride as Team GB. It needed those medals and especially those golds to get people talking and watching. Some of the Brit successes happening in primetime also helped.

It's somewhat backfired tonight. They've done the right thing but could have stayed with the Ten at ten!

Edit: but it got them one of the sporting moments of the year and hopefully something like 10m watching.

How on earth has it backfired. Ratings from 10-11 tonight will be of the charts

Really can't see a problem. It's two totally different progs and its giving viewers a choice.
It's not reality show against reality show......

In the sense that BBC1 could have shown the main news and regional news at 10pm and cut back to the kierin at 10.30. Instead the news hasn't even aired yet! Hardly seems any point airing it now. It has also rather screwed up BBC1 showing other live Olympics coverage when they finally cut to the news at 11.25...

If people didn't stick around for that then they missed excitement and history.
