Impressive for Michael McIntyre and solid for Strictly.

I still can't fathom why some felt Strictly was "poor" last night but I appreciate people are entitled to their opinions. In my mind, it's not as if there was any discernible collapse in quality from last week to this or a "jump the shark" moment. If anything, more effort went into the show given it was Blackpool week. Yes, I appreciate that the backing dancers were a distraction in the couples' dances but they were hardly intrusive, making one want to switch off. The judges' scoring will always be debated. It's nothing new. I didn't see any glaring errors with the camerawork. Unless I was watching a totally different show to everyone else, there was nothing in last night's Strictly to make one think, "This show has jumped the shark. I'm never watching again." It just feels like nit-picking for the sake of nit-picking.

In my humble opinion.

One wonders how close the XF numbers would be to last year were it not being assaulted in the schedules by our wonderful, untouchable PSB. Probably not matching, due to a line-up considered weak and natural decline, but perhaps within 200-300k of it.

Could I nominate this a "Most OTT Post of the Year 2016"

Thanks Score. 11m for Strictly that's a massive 4.9m above X Factor. The criticism of Strictly last night obviously didn't dent any figures! I felt it was a great show to me. Ore's over scoring annoyed me though.

Casualty remained very consistent despite IAC clash

Only stand out ratings for me last night was SCD, and a distant extent, IAC.

Regarding IACGMOH: Extra Camp, no wonder ratings have fallen going by it's trailer, especially when they feature Andi Peters giving his take - he's been irrelevant for years now.

Neither could I. I was with the entire family and we all enjoyed Strictly.

Peter Kay's appeared live on Strictly last night, and I was going to suggest an entertainment format for him. However his minute airtime has caused a stir:

It just shows how public culture has changed over time, no-one would have batted an eyelid in the seventies. Or if they did no-one would have taken any notice.

Thanks for these. Interesting to know what MOTD started with as that's a decent ITV News number actually making use of a good lead in. MOTD must be a bit down this year, there was talk that domestic football viewing on SKY had declined somewhat. Strange because the Premier League is just as fascinating as it ever was. Maybe its depressed Man U fans losing a bit of heart.

A decent night for ITV with IAC as well, but very solid and at times spectacular all the way through for BBC1.

So- not far off a 5 MILLION gap between Strictly and X Factor, when in previous weeks it's been 4 million.

Does it? Most of the 'outraged' in that article aren't even gay men, they're just presuming to be offended on our behalf. I think we can safely say their personal experience of homophobia is...zero. Rinder certainly wasn't offended.

On the flip side, maybe ITV should be making an effort outside of The X Factor and I'm Celebrity to give support to these shows, the former especially.

The BBC took a risk with both shows. People weren't expecting Michael McIntyre to claim over 5m or Planet Earth to pick up many more viewers than the Antiques Roadshow at most. But they had the right feel about them and it's a sign of complimentary scheduling they got it so right.

It's time that ITV fight back with programming rather than in press releases (not, I stress, that they have moaned about this to date).

As for the ratings - excellent for Strictly, great for McIntyre, decent for The X Factor and good for I'm A Celebrity. I enjoyed Strictly more last night than the mess that was the Halloween show but I wish they'd cut out the backing dancers.

It shows the sort of ratings available if they didn't just show a lottery quiz practically 52 weeks a year, and actually ran some new entertainment shows.

Who even cares? These comparisons are SO 2010. SCD's audience are more loyal and likely to be sat inside every evening watching TV.

On a few occasions, The Next Great Magician (brand new ITV LE show) hasn't been a million miles off matching SCD in 16-34 numbers...

XF started 3 minutes late and that's the difference between 5.9 and 6.1. Interesting to hear that the adverts kept it down to 6.1 but it's pretty clear now where XF is. There are 7.2m watching XF as that peak shows. It's the same number as the consolidated figure. They're loyal to it despite what is on the other channels.
The only difference between Saturday and Sunday is that more of them watch it all live on Sunday which makes sense for results shows.

XF ratings are climbing a little every week now but the key is that we know its core. More importantly, the actual show is much improved with the older songs, jovial feel and the audience dancing. It feels like a party now. That bodes well for next year. The extra authority of Dermot helps the show too. Dermot is such a good host, it's particularly noticeable when he comes on straight after Tess.

I really like MM so it's no surprise to me that he did well. This is a show similar to the Peter Kay and Friends show that I talked about. It's why I said 321 would work today. People like buffet TV which provides bits of everything.

Great ratings fof SCD - if people are getting annoyed by aspects of it then it'll show next year if the issues carry on. You don't tend to give up on a show this late on.

The rest of the ratings were very normal and hence predictable. All of these shows have a core audience. IAC will consolidate to 9m before tonight's show. It's clearly up on 2015.

Oh that's the same as XF is Fixed articles that the tabs produce based off a handful of tweets. Yesterday there was an Is IAC Fixed? one.
There were numerous ones claiming Wayne Bridge cheated on his eating challenge. I only watched Friday's IAC last night so could look out for it - he didn't and it was clear he didn't.
