Maybe if ITV didn't schedule Victoria against Poldark, the BBC may have waved a white flag. Or, if ITV stopped clashing ED with EE, the BBC may wave a white flag.
ITV are not waving a white flag anyway. They are trying new formats out. Now, if one of those formats took off and got 6m viewers, it would dent SCD's ratings a little. If ITV does get a success in the next year or two, do you think they'll refrain from scheduling against SCD? Of course not. So why should the BBC just roll over and give in. They've found another LE hit. I say hallelujah for that, because in this day and age, how often does that happen?
By your logic, should ITV not schedule The Voice against Let it Shine in case Let It Shine suffers?”
Great post!
Look EX Factor is weak, viewers avoiding it, XF is surrounded by top performing shows, Strictly, Planet Earth, IAC and Michael McIntyre, but the viewers are not engaged, in fact they avoid it! When XF was on its own in late August, and Mid September its ratings were still very bad.
We had all the excuses, August bank holiday, barbecues, etc, but XF only went up, when SCD returned.
There are ten million viewers who want to watch something good, and not watch XF.
So now the recommendation is put nothing against XF to help it, it won't, you could out the test card against XF and it will not force viewers to watch XF.
The BBC has been great, knowing how weak it is has scheduled quality programming such as Michael McIntyre and Planet Earth2.
It's about choice, it's about freedom, and " if" anyone wants to watch two shows there is recording and catch up and +1. But the viewers choose not to watch.
It is so annoying that a few still make excuses for this past its shelf life Show. A case of the emperors new clothes, a few do not " see it" the majority now do see XF for what it is and switched off.
