Amazing for planet earth, doesn't that beat one episode of bake off?
Also great for I'm a celeb, is that it's second highest launch?

I assumed what PE2 made on the overnight uplift it would lose through lower time shift. But 13.14m is staggering.

Great to see The Missing 2 go back over 7m. I thought after the first episode that this would be a disappointingly duff second series but it is not.

Quite something to see the old warhorses EE and Corrie languishing 11th and 15th in the chart of the year so far.

Unthinkable a few short years ago.

Don't think it deserves that to be honest, though congrats to it nonetheless.

Congrats to Planet Earth 2. Now THAT is a show that deserves its numbers and more!

My Mother and Other Strangers hardly budged at all. That suggests to me the big lead in meant those who would have otherwise recorded it, watched it live.

Royal Variety Performance - Tuesday 13th @ 7.30pm”

Well lets hope this year is an improvement. It would nice to see something other than drama on Christmas Day after the soaps. Even a film premiere.

I would have liked to see Vicious on Boxing Day in a 10pm slot post BOAF.

I Sky+ it, heard the poor reviews on 5Live, read a few more and deleted it.

I've got so much well reviewed stuff stacked on my box, I have to be selective.

And last year EastEnders had its 30th anniversary and had 11.6m. It seems only soap anniversaries can pull in the double digit numbers now.

ITV have signed rights to the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups paying 25% more than they did for the last two

I did the same. It also shows that just because something is high in the iPlayer chart it doesn't always mean lots of viewers are being added.

They did a good job covering them and it can rate well with home interest.

Thanks Ray.

The Auction house programme did well on Saturday for BBC2. I think it's wasted there.

Is the season premiere normally the highest rated IAC episode or is it the final?
I imagine that'll be the highest rating for PE2. I'm not sure a nature programme will top it for quite some time (if ever).

Things look bleak for Strangers which is a shame because it's nice to see the BBC pushing a drama set in NI.

The 2019 Rugby World Cup will struggle for the same reason as the 2018, 2020 and 2022 Olympics events - poor timezones.

Good news. I wonder if the BBC made a bid. I did prefer their coverage of this years Six Nations to ITV's. Brave of ITV to bid for the 2023 WC when a host hasn't been selected yet. Although it will almost certainly be in Ireland (same time zone as the UK) or Italy (which is only one hour ahead).

So last Sunday's episode has already had a 15 million+ reach looking at the 16:45 number!
