The three bidders are Ireland, France and South Africa. All three have strong positives and negatives.

Agree it's lost the plot big time.

Countryfile, SCD, Planet Earth fantastic ratings, IAC slipping, a bit not engaging viewers,

Not bothering a comment on XF still Low no longer a big hitter. Should be rested.

Is it safe to assume that Outnumbered will be on Boxing Day now after reading the DS article? Thinking along the lines of an EastEnders/Outnumbered double header at 9pm

That's rubbish, if anything PE performed worse than IAC as it was actually down on last week, IAC is up on last year.

In no way is it slipping.

How is IAC slipping when it is virtually identical to last year's equivalent show, and a fraction higher too? And its the highest rating for it since Monday?

Not commenting on XF? Well colour me surprised.

Suspect this could do pretty well in that slot - it's a popular family film & actuallly pretty enjoyable! Has anyone got any idea what other film premiers Channel 4 & 5 have up their seeves??

I had no idea Italy had withdrawn from the bidding but a quick Google reveals you're right. In that case, Ireland will almost certainly be the hosts because France and South Africa have both hosted before, as recently as 2007 in France's case

Yeah, you really didn't bother putting that post together at all.

That should do really well. I can see another 4m+.

Ch4 and Ch5 schedule their premieres well, and seem to show more than the bigger commercial rival ITV.

What happened to your 5.9m drama at 9pm last night?

Oh get a grip ADP. Heavens above if you actually praise an ITV show.

I'm A Celeb has just consolidated over SCD and become Sunday's most watched entertainment show. And last night's rating will be over 9.5m excl adverts. Its so far up YOY.

Or is up YOY not good enough?

Yes, you'd assume so. The only things going against Ireland are

Their stadia will need quite some work (no big deal),
A lack of hotel rooms outside of Dublin,
Following Japan they might want a safe financial pick (France).

But since the 2027 RWC is likely to go to USA and Canada, I'd think they'd want to get Ireland taken care of.
All three are basically the same timezone for ITV.

A good final figure, but I wouldn't be surpised if a good chunk of the 2.5m are rpt viewers in that Sunday slot and boosted by those tuning into the news early.

But an excellent final figure nonetheless. Escapism TV at its best.

I'm not sure any of BBC Two's evening quizzes would be suitable for BBC One.

Remember the pre-6pm BBC Two quizzes are only repeats of quizzes which have already flopped on BBC One.

Honest question, why do you think things look bleak for Strangers? I know it dropped a 1 million but so did its lead in Planet Earth so not surprising. Isn't being 4m+ good for a drama? Competing against ITV's biggest show, it seems to be doing ok.

(Asking out of ignorance and curiosity here, not saying you're wrong)

It would be interesting to see where they'd be if they still had their main channel omnibus editions, and the figures were combined as they were pre-2002.

Great ratings for Leeds v Newcastle in the Championship, compared to the Premier League match. Bigger share too. Both of those teams need to be back in the Premier League (of course I would say that, being a Leeds fan )

Oh right, I didn't know that. I aassumed they were new formats.
It's almost like I don't watch much terrestrial TV!

I noticed it lost a few hundred thousand through the hour last week which was maybe a concern though not that unusual. Then it seems last week's didn't add many over the 7 days.

And of course it's lost a million week on week like you said. But, yes, Planet Earth lost over a million too.

They aren't good signs but it could still consolidate back to 5.5m. I hope it does but my instincts say this will struggle to hit 5m. More Paranoid than Poldark.

I think it's pretty much always the case they sell the rights to two tournaments at a time because they always alternate between the Northern and Southern hemisphere. Obviously one is more convenient for the international broadcasters than the other, so selling them together it all evens out. Buy one, get one free, basically.

I find the presenters irritating, especially Matt Baker and Adam Henson. The poor farmer who is Adam Henson who complains about money shortages and then forks out £6 million on a new combine harvester.

This really doesn't answer the question. Why must it hit 5m to be considered anything other than a failure? 4m is still one hell of a lot of people especially given that one of the plebs' favourites is running against it. Why isn't that good enough?
