I really enjoyed Walliams and Friend, I found it really funny. I hope it held up ok against IAC. Would be nice to see it above 4m. It would be good for a mainstream terrestrial comedy to become a big hit, there doesn't seem to be many of them these days
Agree it was really funny.

I think it might be. I didn't see Walliams & Friend but I've never been a huge fan of his scripted comedy (Big School, Come Fly With Me, even Little Britain). I much prefer him when he's just being himself, in interviews, on BGT etc. He's far funnier in that sort of setting, which The Nightly Show is more likely to replicate.

He's barely going to be off the TV in the next few weeks though, with Walliams & Friend, Royal Variety, Blankety Blank, the Shirley Bassey tribute and then a week on The Nightly Show. He'll then start filming BGT in January. Busy, busy, busy.
How do you think Blankety Blank will do on Christmas Day (if it remains in that slot)? Personally I think for its best chance of success it needs to go opposite CTM.

I think it would work better on Christmas Eve rather than the big day.

Good share, and still retaining up YOY. Though I think tonight it'll be down to around 7-7-5m due to the late slot.

I'm still quite amazed at how well IAC can hold 8m+ for 3 weeks.

But do you nott think, it adds a bit more varity to ITV;s Christmas Day schedule, instead of film, factual, soap, soap, drama.

With BB in the schedule it'll be: film, factual, soap, entertainment, soap, drama.

I think it has the potential to go quite well, particularly as they've sandwiched it between Emmerdale and Corrie. I remember All Star Family Fortunes doing very well in that sandwich about 5 years ago.

It would be best to avoid Strictly though as its light entertainment against stronger light entertainment. I agree it could do very well against Call The Midwife. It could also do very well against Doctor Who, as you've got very different audiences there.

In the current schedule it has a 10 minute headstart on Strictly. BBC1's timings will change though as they need a news bulletin in there. I wouldn't be surprised to see the programmes stay the same (and in the same order) but the timings changed to:

15:10 - Frozen
16:45 - BBC News
17:00 - Bake Off
18:00 - Doctor Who
19:00 - Strictly Come Dancing
20:15 - Call The Midwife
21:30 - EastEnders
22:30 - Mrs Brown's Boys
23:05 - Tracey Ullman

Or

15:10 - Frozen
16:40 - BBC News
16:50 - Bake Off
17:50 - Doctor Who
18:50 - Strictly Come Dancing
20:00 - Call The Midwife
21:15 - EastEnders
22:20 - Mrs Brown's Boys
23:00 - Tracey Ullman

The second schedule would involve some overruns but avoid having to pad out the news. Either way, ITV would probably respond with:

15:10 - The Lion King
17:00 - ITV News
17:15 - Emmerdale
18:15 - Blankety Blank
19:15 - Coronation Street
20:15 - Maigret
22:15 - TBA

Or possibly:

15:10 - The Lion King
16:50 - ITV News
17:00 - Emmerdale
18:00 - Blankety Blank
19:00 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Maigret
22:00 - TBA

I'm not sure how long The Lion King will be with breaks. C4 ran it in a 1hr 45 slot in the Summer and. I don't think it filled that, so not sure where ITV have got 1 hr 50 from. Either way, The Lion King would start at the same time as Frozen, Blankety Blank would mainly face Doctor Who, Corrie against Strictly and Maigret would start at the same time as Midwife, rather than the latter having a headstart. ITV don't have a bad schedule although they feel a programme short. There's a TBA in the provisionals for 22:30 after Maigret, not sure what that will be though.

I'm not. It's the only LE format that is event TV, and it gets good numbers across all demos.

It doesn't rely on the old (SCD) or the young (XFactor) to get headline figures.

I expect Saturdays are dented by the younger demos going out.

It would add variety to the ITV schedule, but I want the show to be a success. I think that on Christmas Night it may just get swallowed up by everything else. It could face Strictly, CTM or EE, and whilst the latter isn't performing too well right now, viewers may just stick with BBC One.

Pairing it with the film Premiere might work well in its favour on Christmas Eve.

Brilliant for IAC again. It's the best show on TV for me personally.

I think it's nice they've done that this year (if It sticks)

Laughed at the "do you nott think"

I dreamt of opening a Christmas TV guide last night. I need to get a life.

You can't say a programme that gets 10m isn't event TV. Strictly, BGT and IAC are all event TV in that lots of viewers switch on for them.

Something new ? The BBC were doing those ''look back on the year'' programmes about 20 years ago and ITV did some as well. Library pictures plus a couple of new interviews if you're lucky.
Haha. New for Channel 5, not all of television broadcasting.

I can!! IAC, once a year, stripped over three weeks is an event and it performs across all demos without skewing young or old.

BGT is next.

Event TV gets bums on seats. You would make a rubbish TV controller. What was Bake Off this year then or Planet Earth 2? Is BGT only an event when its last week is stripped. That's nonsense. Just like 3D TV which is deader tan disco.

Ludicrous to say a show that gets 10-11 million viewers isn't event tv just because it skews older

Here's a rating for you.

The second edition of IAC on Monday 14th November has a final rating of 11.47m. That's up 2.12m from its overnight rating.

Oliver, Derek is still pushing 3D TV as a success, like a Richer Sounds employee trying to shift discontinued stock. So everybody has opinions now matter how outlandish they obviously are!

We were supposed to get a schedule update last night but Digiguide sadly hasn't updated (mine hasn't at least) so looks like we're waiting until Monday for some gaps to be filled.

What are your thoughts on what we've got so far James?

Shitting hell that's massive! Extraordinary that a show that is on air every night is adding over 2m on timeshift. You kind of think why bother when the next one is on the following night.

Thanks Cylon.

Hmmm, see I'm the opposite. Little Britain and (in particular) Come Fly With Me are among my favourite shows ever, whereas his 'act' on Britain's Got Talent was one of the things which drove me away from that show. Big School wasn't brilliant either though, albeit better than last night's snooze, so if Walliams could get Lucas back on board for his next project that'd be good news for all.

I think IAC will struggle to hit 7m tonight, but looking at that 14th November timeshift, I'm sure many will catch up tomorrow morning!
