Yay, another X Factor argument which will result in exactly the posts as last week, and the week before that.

Someone makes a negative comment about The X Factor
ADP comes along and is the forum equivalent of throwing petrol on a fire and ensures the negative comments gain traction and dominate the thread
One poster takes offence
Everyone gangs up on said poster and more and more over the top remarks get exchanged
Finally finishes sometime Tuesday

Why would the producers stage an invasion and then not have the cameras pick it up? It wasn't staged.
Aside from this conspiracy rubbish, I thought XF had a strong night. Much better when there aren't restrictive dated themes.

As expected no eviction on IAC tonight, viewers are instead reverting to pick a celeb to do a bush tucker trial. I think it's the first time they've started the vote offs then gone back to th BTT votes before going back to the vote offs.

Makes sense as its a shorter show tonight, although they will need a double eviction at some point next week to enable 4 to be in the show next Saturday

I actually think ITV are wasting The Lion King in that slot and should actually look to use Frozen as a lead-in for it. Schedule an alternative to attempt to grab the non-family audience in the afternoon and generally reduce the reliance on soaps.

Given the programmes that they have, I'd like to see them go with something like:

3.10 Emmerdale
3.40 The Chase Christmas Special
4.40 News
4.45 The Lion King
6.35 Blankety Blank
7.35 Coronation Street
8.05 Birds of a Feather
9.05 Maigret

Strictly good fun too, although they still haven't quite worked out how to make the 'a-thon's work for TV yet. The whole sequence is too short for viewers to get an accurate representation of how each couple is getting on, then there's a weird bit in the middle where they stop for someone to shout something fairly indistinguishable and then they carry on, then somehow the judges decide ranking points for them all ... it's a great concept but just needs to be both extended and better explained and edited. Could be a real highlight of the series for viewers if they get it right.

2.7m (14%) for Countrywise against EE isn't bad when itv only gets 2m v Holby or 3.5m v Watchdog.
900k for Tenable - almost even with the BBC opposition.
Looks like BBC News at Ten got around 3m and itv got 2.4m.
GMB around 900k and Breakfast Time around 1.8m. GMB topping 1m quite a lot. I thought it was more like 2.2m v 600k.

Breakfast is BBC.
Morning is itv.
Afternoon is BBC
PrEvening* is itv.
Primetime we already know varies day to day.

Much closer battles than I thought. IAC may be helping various itv hours besides the one after 9pm.

Fascinating list. 12.00 till 2.00 still very strong for BBC1 and early afternoon doing ok. The Tipping Point Chase combo really has wrestled itself a winning era for ITV now.

Must check whats on at 11am on BBC1 -that's Cash in the Attics old slot isn't it? Its the low point of the day.

Normally the bush tucker trial loser in this situation would be evicted but they've chosen not to do that this year.

Well I thought XF and SCD had strong nights overall, I really enjoyed XF tonight though, maybe its my love for Saara shining through but the production this year seems good, even if they are inexplicably trying to hype Honey G

Do the vote offs normally start tomorrow usually?

I think because no one has quit or walked out this year (must be first time that's happened in years) so they had to do an eviction last night to start getting the numbers down. I'm also pretty sure they've done an eviction before on a Saturday before even though it was an hour.

The point of my fantasy Christmas schedule was to demonstrate how it could be possible for BBC1 to place Frozen and Bake Off at the heart of the Christmas Day schedule if they were so inclined to. They might choose to do so with Bake Off as their number 1 programme of the year, but not with Frozen. Clearly Frozen is best suited to the 3.10 slot because so many people have seen it already at the cinema or on DVD or on Sky.

My schedule still has Dr Who and Strictly on Christmas Day. And there's no evidence that Midwife would do better on Boxing Day because it's never been on on Boxing Day, but what's wrong with being on on Boxing Day anyway? Seek out the BBC1 Christmas schedules from the 1970s (they're on the internet on various sites) and you will discover that the only one of the BBC's smash-hit sitcoms to get Christmas Day slots for its festive specials is Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. All the rest (Porridge, Dad's Army, The Likely Lads, The Good Life) were scheduled on either Christmas Eve or Boxing Day.

And Series 15 of Pointless took a break from 24 May - 26 August, which is even longer! And then also earlier in the year from 21 March - 19 April. And we're already having repeats during the new series.

Fact is, The Chase record 190 episodes per series, in the same time period Pointless do two series of 55, so that's 80 more for The Chase.

Disgraceful for the BBC's prime teatime quiz.

No, I'll answer that. This is the BBC conning people into watching repeats. See their daytime programmes. Bargain Hunt, Homes Under The Hammer, even Bill Turnbull's daytime quiz Think tank and see that they show 2 or 3 new episodes a week, mixed with 2 or 3 repeats. And the only reason they don't do the same with Pointless is because the serial element of the programme (the rising jackpot, "everyone has two chances to reach the Pointless final") makes such scheduling impossible.

The BBC keep Pointless in that slot all year because viewers get into a viewing habit and it wins viewer loyalty. But ITV have caught onto that with The Chase. And because The Chase sticks with new episodes for much longer, it has now started to move ahead and further ahead of Pointless in the ratings.

Here's hoping the BBC bosses pick up on that. They might become a bit more picky about fobbing us off with repeats.

Of course, mixing new episodes of Bargain Hunt with repeats has become a bit more awkward for the BBC since they sacked Tim Wonnacott. So they're not just dishonest, they're idiots as well.

We only get the full slot averages. I was only saying on here a week or so ago how that favours the BBC. Older viewers at home, watching longer.

Anyway, I don't believe that it was staged. The security must be very lacking because this seems to happen every year. It's not good enough.
