Delighted at that Michael McIntyre rating, it's something different for Saturday nights with one of Britain's best stand-up comedians and I've really enjoyed it.
IAC being down doesn't surprise me too much, it's just not been as good this year. The late start obviously didn't help either. I hope Christmas has something new out into it, this is why rstings are down, there is too much safe schedules and not enough risk taking. IAC has too few " celebrities " in it, and bland personalities like Wayne Bridge, and too much big brother style moaning on who will be undertaking a trial, and you need a straw test to choose. Overall it has been getting the viewers but suffers from being on after XF. Memo:- Would the last XF viewer switch the lights off next week when they leave? Judges pay must now be more than £1 a viewer! |

I was sceptical about the decision, but it seems BBC putting McIntyre after Strictly has paid off. Not my cup of tea, but clearly it's attracting a strong post-Strictly/XF alternative audience.
IAC did better than I expected given the late slot, naturally down but still to pull in 7m average at around 10:00 is not to be sniffed at. |

You must really have had low expectations! Dunno why IAC has such a protective bubble around it on this thread.
People get too worked up about overnights, XF, SCD, MM, IAC, PE, Cold Feet, the soaps, Missing, Apprentice.... They get back their lost viewers thanks to catch-up. |

I knew IAC would be down with no elimination and the ridiculously late slot for the longer X Factor which did poorly for a quarter final.
I imagine it will be up closer to 9m tonight with X Factor in the mid 6m |

Ive said this all along, people actually forget this.
People may catch up during Sunday with IAC but there seems a bit of disengagement coming in with IAC. There was no reason for XF to be extended last night, we see SCD get shorter each week as contestants go, and SCD had an extra group dance competition last night. ITV makes money from adverts and viewers, IAC typically gets the viewers through the turnstiles. You do not put the Christmas turkey on before IAC to damage it. This was posted on Thursday. Code:

Simon posted XF gets Ten Million recently in The Metro, and I was accused of going against BARB figures, this shows the truth. |

We watched Thursday's IAC last night. Amazingly, I don't know who has been evicted. Somehow this thread hasn't spoilt it. Lucky. Quote:

I imagine it will be up closer to 9m tonight with X Factor in the mid 6m XF will consolidate to 7.2m and the Sunday one to 6.6m. Apprentice will go to 7.3m. SCD will get to 11.5m. Or might top 12m. What is great about IAC being daily is that a whole bunch of episodes will be released tomorrow. Hopefully we will get that depth of info. |

Catch up is important, and say for Drana now the norm. The LE shows that have Live votes will have more Live viewing and in theory less catch up. IAC is a bit in a protective bubble but typically rates well. The late start and being after XF which had very low viewers dented it.
People may catch up during Sunday with IAC but there seems a bit of disengagement coming in with IAC. IAC is up YoY - it's doing very well and it has boosted News at 10 to being not far behind the BBC. It's also faced heavy hitters. Remember, demos sell. EastEnders is more valuable than Corrie despite being the #3 soap these days. |

Where I was there was freezing fog that never lifted all day, I'd say it was worse than average for the time of year. Back to the ratings and everything pretty much as expected. |

Yes I like the idea of something fresh and new on Saturday night, MM started this show on Saturdays earlier this year and has grown. It feels fresh and not stale like XF.
BIB This is said every year and yet, IAC is going to likely consolidate higher than SCD, and be the top Ent. show this year. Are you watching IAC, or just venturing into the IAC forum? You keep saying you are unfairly branded as its all about the BBC, but the fact is every post you make is always in the favour of the BBC. You say IAC has bland personalties, but are you actually watching it, or just making sweeping statements from a fw moaners on the IAC forum. You don't like criticism of SCD, but are quite happy to accept criticism of a show on ITV. This series of IAC is nothing like Big Brother. |

Figures for catch up on a TV after a repeat are added to the most recent showing, not the original (like SCD). Have you included catch up, not on a TV? Have you seen all the data Cowell has? |

Oh, the perils of Radio Times coming out early in the run-up to Christmas. Anyway, IAC's ratings is fine given its start time. Its share is well in line with what it's been getting all week. And how well do you think Strictly or Bake Off would have fared if BBC1 had been stupid enough to schedule then at 10pm. (Although that ITV schedule would have been fine if X Factor was still storming it.) OMG - BBC1 in new light entertainment hit shock. Big Show is the (near) perfect marriage of host and format and the series is well scheduled. (Although X Factor no longer storming it helps as well.)

ITV makes money from adverts and viewers, IAC typically gets the viewers through the turnstiles. You do not put the Christmas turkey on before IAC to damage it. And the problem with your relentless campaign against The X Factor is you merge good reasoned points with irrational remarks which makes it oh so easy for Dan R to hit back and turn this thread into a pathetic childish free-for-all. The X Factor is struggling slightly but to call it a Christmas turkey is ignoring the facts - demo wise it's still one of ITV's most profitable programmes and, excluding the soaps and soon-to-end I'm A Celebrity it's ITV's number one show of the season. |

Hmm... X Factor is struggling now, 5.6m for a Quarter Final isn't good, and despite some poor judges houses decisions, I'm enjoying this series a lot more than some of the othersTo put it perspective, it's virtually identical to the voices ratings at this stage which notoriously falls apart for its live shows (Although obviously XF fills more hours and has a higher series average due to a good auditions/6CC run.)
Maybe it's time they rejigged the format- Start it later in the year and then strip the live shows a la BGT the week before Xmas? I think ITV might be worried now though, they've bought three years of The Voice and XF when both are looking decidedly weak and they're not cheap formats imo and one will almost certainly devalue the other |

Like Manchester United claiming they were the best team in the Premier League last season if you don't include Leicester, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City. Or Citizen Khan claiming he's the number one programme on BBC1 this Autumn if you exclude Strictly, Bake Off, Planet Earth, EastEnders, Countryfile, The Missing, The Apprentice, The One Show, Antiques Roadshow, Have I Got News For You, Michael McIntyre's Big Show, National Lottery Five Star Family Reunion, Ordinary Lies, The News................................................................................ Well, you get the idea with that. ![]()

Not much sign of Linda Gray (Sue Ellen from Dallas) boosting Hollyoaks ratings a lot with this week's cameo as a cougar mother in law from hell.
But it does raise an interesting question. After Corrie had Napoleon Solo as a guest actor for a short stint to steal away Roy's mother, and Holby employed Hutch from Starsky and Hutch as a doctor. Which ageing US TV series icon should East Enders cast to join the trend? My money is on the business man sent into Walford to set up a new Enterprise Zone. Played by William Shatner (aka Captain Kirk). ![]() Any better ideas? |

I think the exact same will happen this year, whilst the live ratings are not the highest, people are still talking about TXF and know the contestants' names so are clearly watching it somehow. |
