I notice they aren't doing a John Bishop special this year. They normally did quite well so surprised to see it not returning. With Michael McIntyre moving to Christmas Eve it could have gone in the late slot on Christmas Day. Better than a compilation.”

Why would they try to be promoting GBBO, effectively a Channel 4 show now, over DW, of which there is a 2017 & 2018 (and rumoured in the Mirror 2019 is greenlit) series already commissioned for BBC1 after this Christmas?

We have t seen the full Christmas Day schedule as yet, we know from advance trailers that Doctor Who is on Christmas Day. Now when we have had a year free of the Doctor, or a regeneration etc ratings go up.

Frozen will give a great lead in. I think as " fantasy " with a loyal audience DW will do well.

ITV going for Maigret - dead man- on Christmas Day is a gamble but new and may work, Maigret is likely to get a new year repeat outside the Christmas double listings period to get its money worth.

Personally I would take out call the midwife and have it on another day but I think it's set for the main day. Michael McIntyre on Christmas Eve should boost that night up.

Peter Pan goes wrong, pre Christmas Day say Christmas Eve pre McIntyre.

I would like to see part1 of Christmas bake off just before Christmas to hook viewers in, maybe the Wednesday at 8 pm, normal slot, and then the other one on Christmas Eve following McIntyre.

Witness for the prosecution on at 9 pm from Boxing Day stripped day by day.

I think the XF should have ended many years ago, true,

The ratings and things like this:-
https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbi...n-was-planned/ " X Factor viewers claim Honey G stage invasion was planned, is about manipulating people and that's what gets people annoyed as it is all about the worst style of very early 2000's show.

Funny that I was discussing the film " Frozen" yesterday, and Michael McIntyre and Strictky, and I understand you may not be able to read all my posts, but they were not about XF, however whilst some here see only the top of the iceberg of a variety of posts, they like to attach a label quickly.

Posters here either tirelessly defend XF or soaps, or go on about the quality of IAC celebrities, they could be seen as obsessed, we get fantasy Christmas schedules. I thought an open forum should be open, and discuss the ratings and shows.

But this thread isn't about "persons who post here" but a few are obsessed with that? ”

You haven't really answered. Look, I hate it too as I can't abide Cowell, but you do go on about it on here an awful lot which is the truth. If I hate something I don't really want to endlessly comment on it, I'd rather channel that amount of energy into something else.

There maybe a year until C4 GBBO and it's not going to be the same show with three of four people left.

People love the current GBBO it should be scheduled for maximum viewers for a good send off, and it's not promoting it in any way, there is a year gap.

Doctor Who is on Christmas Day they have already said it, I guess a slot around 5.15 to 6.15pm.

These are the figures from Wikipedia. It doesn't say if they are overnights or consolidated. I think it's consolidated.

5.34m
5.84m
5.43m
5.55m
4.21m
4.20m
5.19m
4.29m

so a bit borderline, but a few of these episodes clashed with rescheduled episodes of EastEnders IIRC which obviously had an averse effect on ratings.

Actually I am just answering the personal bashing going on since my mornings post, I try to have a quick post, in and out, then I am quoted and re quoted, which I have ignored it last weeks but has been getting personal and some like to make some things up, making 2+2 =6.

To be honest when I didn't respond on XF Others were posting the same pro and against arguments. XF is marmite people either love it or hate it.

I have answered, but seems the context is completely ignored so I have to re repeat when people join later but do not read prior posts!

Well I can't speak for 'we' but I certainly do. It needn't be in place of the standard series but could be run as an additional late Spring series. It might even shut up the 'should be about the dancing' crowd for a bit. And don't forget that there have been more than a few winners who would not themselves claim to have been the best dancers in the competition and only a few winners keep up their dancing post appearance so it wouldn't be entirely free of 'hiccups'. It was a huge success for DWTS when it ran its 'All Stars' series in 2012. It's surely got to be worth a try.

Actually DWTS's all stars season lost 19% of it's audience from the previous autumn.

Which is ironically what Dr Who is these days. Poor Peter Capaldi - A good Dr and a fine actor lumbered with a terrible in-a-rut producer. I'd say incoming Chibnall might shake things up but he's been responsible for some horrifically bad telly so I don't hold out much hope for the new regime.

But still one of the very few seasons in which more people have watched the final than the opening episode and very much in line with the general decline in TV audiences. The following autumn season was a further 15% down for the final. Okay, maybe not a 'huge' success but a success nonetheless. And for those of us that did watch an absolutely brilliant competition.

Fox TV in America has just run an advert for Taboo for its FX showing. The trailer looks good, it reminded me a lot of Penny Black.

I only saw the first season of Penny Black (must watch the rest because it was excellent) but whether it'll suit BBC1 I don't know.

Do you mean Penny Dreadful? If so, I agree. The first season was excellent but I haven't got around to watching seasons 2 and 3 either!

The irony of the anti-Moffat brigade accusing anyone of being stuck in a rut is almost too painfully funny to bear! Please take your views to the Who forum where an endless supply of miserable sods are bursting to welcome you to their doom and gloom club. There are people there make me look carefree and light-hearted and I suffer from clinical depression!

You have got to win the award for the rudest poster on this thread. How many more people are you going to insult and generally come across as aggressive towards?

Season two and three are in a different league to the first. Well worth a watch.

DS participant Jane-Lee3 has started a thread "Off Their Rockers: Season 4, Utter load of tripe."

Catching it when other members of the family watch it, I have to say, and did in the above thread, that it could do with a bit more quality control. I think it's getting the ratings it deserves. Sadly.

I wonder what figure it would get if it was on BBC1. (That would have to be a Saturday.)

It's a very repetitive show. I liked it at first but the novelty soon wore off. Roping in celebrities defeats the point of it too. There's probably a reason why this series has been left on the shelf (it was filmed last Autumn for its usual Spring slot). I suspect this will be the last one.

No! We must boycott the show until dear Edward is returned unto his rightful place as the centrepiece of Saturday night entertainment. It's the only way to save 2016.
