Weird scheduling for the Pompeii documentary. Wonder what they've got on before it?

Great for Strictly, Planet Earth and IAC. X Factor is holding up well against PE2 but still looks weak.

X Factor failing to up its ratings that much for the result. IAC excxellent ratings more so for Strictly and Planet Earth. I'm going to guess that Strictly next week might take a slight dip as people will start going out more for Christmas. I'm not going to watching next week as I'm out Saturday night singing in the village choir then onto the pub for a few so will catch up on the Sunday.

Sports Personality of the Year will take place at 6pm on the 18th, probably airing at 8pm. Andy Murray won't be there.

EDIT: No its a new series starting. Good scheduling. ITV giving TA final a bit of competion and not just rolling over. Its states its 1/3, which means the 2nd ep will be probably on the Wednesday between Christmas and New Year.

No UCL match pulling in even 428k for BT Sport. The sponsors must be thrilled. ITV's excellent highlight show probably got 1m.

No, it's new. Marked as episode 1 of 3, but not sure where the other 2 will go. Perhaps the first 2 Wednesdays in January? That would be an odd transmission pattern though.

I have absolutely no idea why the didn't burn Off Their Rockers off in Summer. Its really gone 2 series too far. Now resorting to using attention-seeking celebs in it.

Magician I think is fine for 1 or 2 episodes, but after 3 its just much the same and pretty samey. Although its doing better than MTP, but less than The Chase in the slot.

BTW do you know if ITV have a Christmas Special of The Chase. For me its a no brainer.

Agree about Off Their Rockers, it's time to get rid. I'm not aware of any Chase specials but that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one. Would be a good move I agree, they used to do one for Text Santa so no reason to not do one and put it elsewhere.

Also you'll be thrilled to see that Piers Morgan's Life Stories is returning. 2 episodes are filming in December. Not sure if they're just doing the 2 or if more dates will go up. I think it's OK as occasional specials with big guests but doesn't really work as a series any more, they've churned through a lot of decent guests and it's been on a while. We'll see if the rest has helped it at all.

Yes, and I think The Chase Christmas Special would be good for the 7pm slot where ASM&M is, or Christmas Eve.

I'm not too bothered if its 2 episodes. Its when they do a series and the guests are weaker. As long as the guests have interesting back stories, and they do one-offs, I see not reason why it can't continue.

Question for the ratings thread - does anyone have numbers for the Junior Bake Off which has been running on CBBC at 5.30 for the last 3 weeks?

It's up against SCD. Cancelling it after one series v the most-watched show of the week would be nuts. Might as well cancel Tipping Point and the Chase which also only pull in 2.5-3m against Pointless/Countryfile/SCD.

I'm not really criticising the show but just the guests this year haven't been that appealing to me. Beyonce and Rihanna have both released albums this year so do have music to promote. There's still the final to come yet so there's still time for some more big guests.

Bringing it back would be nuts too. It started well against SCD with 3.4m, but has dropped 1m since then.

If it was any good, viewers would stick with it. I bet a second series would rate similar to series 1 against SCD.

Sports Personality is Live and is down for 6.40pm at moment before Apprentice Final at 9

It's averaged around 3m which is what the Chase gets. TP can't get that v Pointless. I watched the first two Magicians but the rest are stacking up. VOSDAL will take a hit thanks to IAC. Strictly was down 600k last night too.

Since the Chase, TP, Magician, MTP and Ross have struggled to get more than 3m, they should be binned. And XF needs resting as that's weak. TTNY has lost 600k too, that should be axed.

This will give itv an opportunity to start showing all their new hit LE shows that they've been holding back.

SCD and Planet Earth post excellent and well deserved ratings. IAC is doing by the business as well with solid numbers after the lower number on Saturday night in an out of slot position.

XF continues to fall Sunday Vs Sunday and is abysmal for this expensive show and continues to have a lack of interest in it.
